Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor cleanliness I was not impressed with my stay at Holiday Inn, Nottingham I thought the hotel was very tired in its decoration in the bedrooms. The cleanliness of my bathroom was disgusting. There were used tissues by the toilet, I could tell they had been there for a while as they were stained yellow. On my second day the cleaners so called cleaned my room. I thought it was the cleaners were not very good, they so called cleaned the toilet let the toilet seat up with used toilet paper not flushed away. I was dubious about the complete cleanliness of my room. I would not stay here again if I can help it. It has put me off that hotel. 08 February 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smaller hotel but not lower standards I am a commercial traveller (I live in hotels most weeks for 3 or 4 nights) I always say that you can never really judge a hotel until you've stayed there 6 months because you need to see how they treat you when they are stretched / at capacity. The staff here are excellent in a crisis and tremendously helpful. This is a smaller hotel with the attitudes of a much larger one. I stayed here from April to December 2013 during the week. If you need to watch your waist-line, the menu has a few things for the calorie conscious and a chef (or chefs) that never seem to mind going the extra mile and really "keep it real". Room service is pretty spot on, quick and hot. The mini gym is serviceable and a little compact but hot in the summer. Parking is free and seems really secure and well monitored by staff / cctv. Booking and check-in were excellent, bar snacks pretty normal holiday inn fare, restaurant smaller menu but good quality, breakfast service usually seems crowded round 8am but the chef is helpful whatever the time. The hot breakfast buffet is a bit of a mixed bag and quite often not very hot, cold buffet has a number of good quality items but fruit is sometimes (thankfully not too often) not very fresh. There is a definite shortage of upgrade rooms for the IHG rewards club member resulting in me paying for an upgraded room in order to get one (the month I stayed before paying for an upgrade I didn't get upgraded once). Climate control is poor (no air con) in the standard rooms and noisy in the executive rooms which do have air con. If you're thinking of staying in a standard room in the hotter summer months bring an electric fan unless you pay for an executive room. Mobile phone signal is pretty universally excellent throughout the hotel on O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone (the providers I use). The standard wifi is about 256K and doesn’t support BBC iPlayer but is very serviceable if you get it for free in the lounge but elsewhere it is chargeable and definitely not worth £10 a day. The hotel looks to be a long way away from town but there are local shops (a big Sainsbury’s) and barbers within 5 minutes walking distance. If you do choose to walk down the canal path into town you're walking distance (or a £6-10 taxi ride from the town centre) from many great places: * 20 mins leisurely walk from The World Service Restaurant and Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem (ancient pub) * 25 mins leisurely walk from three of Nottingham’s best Indian Restaurants: Cumin, 4550 Miles from Delhi and Chutney * 30 mins leisurely walk from three of Nottingham’s best French Restaurants: Le Petit Paris, French Living and Le Bistrot Pierre ...and a whole host of great pubs... of course there’s taxis for the way back and at around £6-10 for a Hackney Cab from the town centre back to the hotel you can afford to relax and have a great time. I love this hotel and its on my list of favourites, mainly because of the staff (especially the front of house manager). 16 January 2014

Second room with two double beds had very worn carpet, hairs in the bath plug hole and spiders web in the corner of the room...room in dire need of redecoration and staff need to keep everything cleaner.... We had a great meal in the restaurant the previous evening and the service was quick and excellent considering there were 2 very large groups in there, well done team!. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room On arriving at the hotel, I was asked for my card and told that no money was being taken it was just to swipe it for the cost of the room and mini bar (in case we did a runner, I suspect!) and on leaving I had to give them my card again to pay for the room only, as we hadn't used the mini bar. The next working day the cost of the room was debited from my account. However, I'm still waiting for my bank to return the money that was "reserved" on the day that I arrived. Apparently, it takes 7 WORKING days for the money to be returned to my account! I am not happy about this, if I had known I would have paid for the room on arrival and been quite happy for the them to reserve the money for the cost of the mini bar (even though we had no intention of using it). Luckily, I had enough money in my account to pay for the room twice, but it's not an ideal time of year to be waiting for that amount of money to be returned. Now to the room.. It was lovely (we were given an "executive" room) and we were very impressed by the cleanliness and comfort - the bed was an absolute dream! However, I didn't get to do much dreaming, as the room was far too hot with the heating on and I woke twice in the night because of this. Also, the following morning, you can hear all the doors on the corridor banging constantly. The lifts were terribly slow and held a maximum of only 4 people! It's location is probably the best thing, but there is another hotel literally right next door (I'd have used that one, if they had rooms available). Overall, it was a nice place to stay but not nice enough to go again, unfortunately. 14 December 2013

My wife and I have just stayed at the Nottingham Holiday Inn for about the 7th or 8th time - and once again we were made to feel so welcome - it felt so relaxing and comfortable that I feel we must thank Jason and all his staff for their efforts. We will be back again in March and I have no doubt it will again be just as good as every other time we have stayed. 09 December 2013

My wife and I had a reasonable room but my son was given "the only room available" which appeared to be a converted meeting room with a store cupboard. This was next to the bar and the lobby and did not offer the standard of accommodation I have come to expect at the Holiday Inn. 07 December 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average Two adults and one child in a family room, two double beds. The beds are small for two adults. Room 110, bath drain wasn't right and you could smell it when you walked in. I didn't mention it immediately and was too busy on check out. We had to leave by 8am but this was too early for a hot breakfast. The food in the evening was good, not just good for a Holiday a inn but good for anywhere. 27 November 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, cosy room and friendly staff I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn, Nottingham. We were only there for one night. The room was immaculate and the bed was comfortable. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - I had to ask their advice on directions through the city a few times and they were enthusiastic in helping me. One thing would have made my stay better - a kettle and coffee/tea in the room! Most hotels of this standard and budget offer these facilities. I like to go to bed with a cup of tea and wake up with one before doing anything else. Also, we had to check out at 8am because we had an event to attend - it was Sunday and the buffet breakfast did not begin until 8am, hence we didn't have time for it. Had I actually paid in advance, I would have had to ask for a refund. But anyway, the lovely lady in the restaurant helped us out with some food. I would definitely stay again, but I would like a kettle! The location was very convenient. 27 November 2013

The rooms are large in conparison with other hotels in Nottingham. The opening windows are also a plus. However, the operation of the hotel could be better. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by My stay at holiday inn The room was lovely, in the middle of the night some other drunken guests were very loud and tried their key in my room door. I am a young woman and as you can imagine i was very frightened! They then continued to swear at each other and finally found their room. I went back to sleep and after the small incident had a lovely sleep. I told reception in the morning and didn't get the response i was hoping for. Despite this the hotel and the grounds were lovely and i would definitely return! 21 November 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Heating pipes started clanking loudly at 5.50am! Staff were good and room comfortable although the kettle did not work do staff bought a pot of tea to the room. However sleep was rudely interrupted at 5.50am when what seems to be the central heating pipes starting making really loud clanging noises do I couldn't get back to sleep. Not good when I had a full days work ahead. I complained to staff and was offered an apology but no other incentive to return. I have to stay one night a week in Nottingham. This week I am staying at premier inn where you get a refund if sleep interrupted. It really is important if staying away from home for work, 18 November 2013

All in all good hotel, do need to improve or invest in new lifts - incredibly irritating when you are in a rush in the morning and the lift is painfully slow. 15 November 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average hotel our room was near the lift which was fine except one of the lifts kept grinding every time it was used! we asked reception to order a taxi for 7 pm to go to a show but reception then let somebody else take it so we then had to wait a further 15mins for another one. they had to ring taxi firm several times to get one to arrive. breakfast was barely warm. all in all a disappointing stay at the hotel. 14 November 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely short stay, quiet location but still central This was our first stay at a Holiday Inn and it was a lovely experience. The hotel is in a quiet location but not too far out of City Centre. The free parking is definitely a bonus. Staff were friendly, polite and pleasant. Breakfast was a treat and very good value. As our daughter is studying at Nottingham University it will be likely we will come back again as it is just 5 -10 min by car depending on traffic. 03 November 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by restaurant service lets it down Although the food was great, 1 evening took 2 hours to get our food due to being unable to cope with a big group that were in. Staff were apologetic but could of done more. Manager was supposed to call me the following day but didn't. Rooms are ok but there was a mechanical unit outside that came on and off during the night. 20 October 2013

We have stayed in this hotel before as a family of 3 and would recommend it the only negative is that you can hear people talking and laughing in the rooms near by and in the corridors which can be disturbing at 1am! 16 October 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms big enough for 4 Stayed with 2 children, 2 double beds were more than adequate and there was still enough space to walk around the room comfortably. Only problem with the room was the temperature at night. We all slept on top of the duvet due to the heat. The previously mentioned problems with the scrambled egg hadn't been resolved. Grey clumps aren't very appetising, but that is the only complaint about breakfast. The website could be clearer about the child age and breakfast policy. We had a comfortable stay only a leg stretch from the city centre and a bonus of free parking. 09 October 2013
