Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed20 Poor customer service throughout starting at reception, dated interiors and carpeting which would benefit from shampooing, bedroom doors tired an required painting. Room was upgraded with good views across sea and clean though would benefit from refreshed decoration and dining more cafe style with no ambiance but good views over town. Beware hotel parking inside if you have a large vehicle as very cramped and tight turning. Claustrophobic. Sadly not value for money. Won't stay in this one again. 28 August 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not happy They put us on the ground floor family room it was dark and dull. The bed was very hard like sleeping on a piece of wood not suitable for someone who has back problems like me it was awful couldn't sleep properly. They told me that all the rooms have the same beds. The restaurants staff was rude didn't greet us and they showed us where to sit. They put us away from the window view not once they put us by the window also they were rude to my daughter. Also i found a short hair in the food not mine i have a long hair! Bad WiFi. Bad service. Wasted my money on that horrible hotel. 28 August 2014

Great location but on arrival looks like it needs a bit of tlc. Staff brilliant, very helpful. Hotel of such a size could also benefit with a decent size gym and pool. 26 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good service, poor facilities Went to Plymouth for the annual fire work competition, I have been a number of time previously; however this was the first time in Holiday Inn. The location was excellent between the City Centre and the Hoe. My friend is in a wheelchair and we booked a disabled twin room. The room was big enough to manoeuvre in the wheelchair; the bathroom did not have a disabled shower. We tried to use the disabled show in the gym, the lift up the three steps wasn't working. The air conditioning and one of the lamps in the room didn't work. Had to pay an extra £5 a day in addition to parking charge to reserve a disabled space! The staff were friendly and the restaurant was nice, with good breakfast and evening meal. The decor of the rooms looks as if it hadn't been updated for years, the facilities needs to be better to go back there again. 25 August 2014

Also I have stayed in this hotel a few times and never been given an upgraded room, as all the rooms are spacious this is not a problem except that this time the outlook was particularly bad. 24 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, well trained happy staff On arrival the staff were helpful and relaxed. We enjoyed great views across the Hoe from our room and the breakfast room. Our room was comfortable, well furnished and quiet, and we slept very well in our huge bed. The pool is of a high standard and not crowded. Breakfast was good but nothing special. If we return to Plymouth we would stay here again. We may well do, as the Barbican area was a revelation. 23 August 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 3 Tage in Plymouth Das Hotel liegt günstig am Hoe, Parkmöglichkeiten in der engen Tiefgarage und draussen stehen ausreichend und ggf. auch in der Umgebung zur Verfügung. Das Hotel ist nicht mehr ganz neu und besonders der Restaurantbereich und die Bäder sollten renoviert werden. Neu gestaltetes Hallenschwimmbad steht mit guten Öffnungszeiten zur Verfügung.Toller Blick aus dem Frühstücksbereich über die Stadt. 22 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A very tired looking hotel I have been staying in this hotel from the middle of June up to the present date 22.08.14. The hotel is past its best the rooms need decorating, there is no thought process given to allocation of rooms when people are staying long term for work purposes. The noise is incessant from either other guests or general resonance through the building. The windows dont operate correctly and the safety tags are not fixed correctly. The room carpets are grubby and where they have removed the hideous antiquated heating machines they haven't even made it up with new carpet. The furniture differs by room and pot look, you never know what you are going to get. The showers are poor in some rooms but consistantly too low. There is a common theme with the Holiday Inn, they all need revamping. 22 August 2014

This hotel holds special memories for me as I worked here as a chambermaid for 4 years whilst at Plymouth Uni so I wrote to the hotel asking for everyone to be in rooms on the same floor. Our request was granted and from the minute we checked in to the minute we left and all the partying inbetween, the staff and service was exceptional. We used the lovely pool and gym and enjoyed 2 great breakfasts overlooking the beautiful views. We enjoyed drinks in our Executive room and any request was no trouble at all. Smiling staff taking great care of us. The chambermaid on floor 7 on Saturday morning was really efficient and so friendly. Thankyou Plymouth Holiday Inn for making my hen weekend one to treasure! 19 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff Very enjoyable stay, great rooms, as we needed 4 rooms it was brilliant to all be on the same floor not spread all over the building. Found the restaurant staff to be fantastic especially with the extra care they showed to our two 80+ year old moms. Check in staff very helpful too. Only a few small niggles - old air conditioning unit had been removed from room so ugly patch of tatty carpet where it had gone from let the room down. No instructions as to how to use new air conditioning which seemed to be either full on or completely off. New windows restrict view in comparison to old style full length sliding windows.But we would definitely stay here again. 19 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Large bedroom overlooking the Hoe Stayed for two nights,all the staff were very pleasant and polite nothing to much trouble.We stayed in a room overlooking the Hoe which was very spacious.and clean could not fault anything.Bed was Comfortable and spotless with a choice of pillows soft or hard.Will return again next year. 18 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Whereas we found the hotel catered excellently to our needs (visit for 2 nights for the Fireworks,I feel I must mention that after our first night the way that the bed was made was very poor,the pillows looked as if they had been thrown in place,not smoothed out,the duvet was erratically tucked in some( places not) and the throw for the bottom of the bed wasn't replaced but left where I had put it overnight.Did not affect anything greatly but for a 4 star it did not look good,also perhaps should point out that one of the armchairs badly stained . The staff were all great,extremely friendly and willing and the food was really good. 18 August 2014

Dirty windows that do not open, stuffy room with inefficient air conditioning system which blows smelly air and makes me feel ill. Dirty surfaces, smeared with food chest door handles. Inefficient flush in the bathroom, toilet holder rail falling off. Shower is rusty. The bed mattress is horrible- every single movement reverberates. I could not sleep a wink and ended up sitting in the armchair 14 August 2014

Das Bad ist ausreichend groß, Beleuchtung könnte besser sein und ein Vergrößererungsspiegel wäre toll. kein deutsches TV. Internet kostenpflichtig. Service war gut. Im Restaurant zu wenig Platz, Speisen nicht gewürzt, Service gut. Frühstück gut. Kaffeautomat war prima:) 14 August 2014

Ours was the very first Wedding reception to be booked at the Inn after it opened in 1970, our reception was on August 14th 1971 and held in the Marriner Suite. We had super service then and during our latest short stay. I cannot fault the friendly welcome we received and the room was up to expectation. The breakfast was superb both in choice and quality. We would recommend this Inn unreservedly to anyone visiting Plymouth like ourselves. 13 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good central location Spacious room, no upgrade of room and I am a patinum member!! Basic old bathroom that appeared dirty!! Underground carpark locked, waited over five mins for reply to buzzer but no answer so had to park elsewhere. Bed was comfortable but duvet needed to be larger. Pillows lovely and comfortable. Only two towels for family of four so had to ask for more which we got ok. Restaurant was nice with great views!! Food at breakfast was plentiful early on but late mornig nothing was replaced. The location is brilliant for central plymouth!!!! Great indoor pool but shame about changing rooms they need a refurb. 13 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fab location Room for four was massive!!! Could do With updating tho especially the bathroom but the shower was hot and powerful. Car park was tight and came back one night to find the shutter down, we rang the buzzer and waited a good Few mins but no answer so had to park elsewhere!! How annoying. Had drink in bar, service ok and had breakfast a few times, views were amazing!!! Restaurant very busy and food not kept well Stocked!!! Service in restaurant was ok but nothing special gave me Tea but I had to ask for milk. Check was 2pm We checked in at 2.45pm but room not ready so waited in bar with free drink then got a call to Say it was ready. At check in they tried to charge us but we were using reward nights!!! We are platinum members but no Room upgrade or water in room etc. What I did love was the location of this hotel it was spot on and for this reason alone I would return, 2 mins into city centre and 2 mins to seafront and there is so much to see and do in Plymouth. On the whole it was a Good stay. Used the pool aswell which was nice apart from the showers, handle falling of door and masses of paint peeling of ceilings . 11 August 2014

I would normally stay at another Hotel just down the road but due to closure i chose Holiday Inn. Better than the other hotel all round it has a pool, children eat free and the staff are friendlier. Only down side to this hotel is the Multistory car park....OMG! i thought id got the car stuck in there the turning are so narrow. Best to park on overflow car park opposite unless you have a small car. I would certainly recommend this hotel. 11 August 2014

Very central and ideal to explore The Barbican, The Hoe, to do a spot of shopping in Drakes Circus and for a trip to the Theatre Royal. My wife tried out Ocean Beauty salon while she was there and there was a small pool with sauna and steam room. Would highly recommend for a city break. Rooms were very comfortable with everything that you need. 10 August 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, hotel needs updating From the moment we checked in we received excellent customer service. Nothing was to much trouble, for everyone. Unfortunately there were some things not working in the room, ac and fridge but they were dealt with promptly. Breakfast and dinner was great with good choices and the spa and pool were just what we needed. Note that the interior is slightly jaded and parts of the lift furniture are missing. Also, a tv magazine found on top of the wardrobe was dated 2012. I wonder if it's still there. Overall I would recommend this hotel and it's central location. 10 August 2014

Only one downside you can not open the patio doors due to Health and Safety regulations, this could be solved by extending the railings outside, although a costly exercise it would be great to be able to open the doors. However, still an enjoyable stay and will certainly return. Thank you. 10 August 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Conveniently positioned Ideal location between shops and waterfront areas. Good standard of rooms and quality of sleep. But, unfortunately outside noise may be an issue depending which side of the hotel you are on. Youths congregate nearby and the area is extremely messy with rubbish strewn everywhere. Once away from the hotel perimeter the Hoe and seafront is excellent. Car parking is available and charged which is a bit 'old hat' cant think of any other chain doing this. 10 August 2014
