Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Plymouth This hotel was perfectly situated for visiting Plymouth. With the Plymouth hoe directly on the one side of the hotel and the busy town centre with a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants on the other side. Easily accessed and free parking facilities for cars. Hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Decoration and Furniture was a bit dated but the overall position of the hotel and friendliness of all staff compensated for this. The bar and restaurant are in the penthouse giving a magnificent view of Plymouth Hoe. Bar and restaurant choices and prices are excellent. Would definitely recommend visiting this hotel. 13 June 2014

Stunning views while having a meal, food outstanding, helpful, polite and smartly dressed staff. It was lovely for my family and myself to be located in one Hotel. Will certainly stay with you again. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed stay This hotel is 'very tired'. The rooms are of the Travel Lodge standard (that is why I don't stay at Travel lodges). I expect more from Holiday Inn than this it is not good for their reputation. I will not be staying there again 11 June 2014

It is the kind of hotel you can tolerate for one night but if you plan to stay longer i would choose a hotel were customer needs and service comes first. 09 June 2014

One instance was that the underground car park was full but a member of the front desk came down to the garage and helped me find a parking space. 05 June 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by lovely veiw and slept good The room was dusty the bed has a rip in the base the staff wasn't friendly the waitress in the breakfast room was rude because we went in the wrong door witch was not clear what door to use the reception windows were dity with finger prints all over them for a 4 star hotel it is pretty disappointing 05 June 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Tired The tired looking holiday inn looking over the Hoe, If you get a room with a view(I didn't). The room itself was a let down the decor could do with a spruce up and the hallway out side my room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. Cannot comment on the evening meals as we ate out but the breakfast was nothing to write home about. All in all i could not recomend this hotel. ps dont expect any platinum recognition either. 03 June 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing I have stayed in this hotel several times with my family over the years as we have family in the area. We have always chosen this hotel because of the exceptional location and it's the only hotel with a pool. However, on this occasion we felt the hotel has gone down hill. Are they selling up? Our room was an executive with 2 double beds on the 10th floor. The room was thick with dust (every surface including the lamp bases) so we couldn't put anything down. There were sticky drink rings on the bedside table. The carpet hadn't been hoovered. I tried to phone reception on several occasions but it just rang until the line was cut off. I therefore had to go down to reception (from the 10th floor!) to lodge my complaints. There was no apology, just a call to the housekeeping manager to send someone to my room. It also advertises that you can have a choice of pillows. I therefore asked for some feather pillows. The housekeeping manager arrived at my door and advised that he had checked their cupboard and there were no feather pillows left. We had a very sleepless night on very firm mattresses and firm pillows. I know some people would be ok with that but it wasn't to our liking. The room had a wall mounted air conditioning unit in it. The window was locked for safety so you couldn't breath in the room. On turning the air conditioning unit on it sounded like a tank had rolled into the room. This noise went on and off all night. The bath was stained yellow and there was a water/sewage leek coming from the back of the toilet. I complained to reception about the leak. There was no comment card in the room (funny that) and no folder providing information on the local area and hotel amenities. That evening, while we went out for dinner, the room was dusted and hoovered but still not to the standard I would have expected. My dad had a standard room which had no wall paper, no pictures and no biscuits were provided with the tea making facilities.It was like a hospital room. By that time we'd lost the will!! I'm now a very disappointed customer who will be finding somewhere else to stay in future. 03 June 2014

They are friendly and welcoming and go out of their to help. I enjoy eating in the restaurant and using the gym. I look forward to my next visit. 02 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Helpful staff; excellent breakfast. comfortable, clean, airy room Hotel staff were helpful and welcoming, polite and professional, even on Sunday morning when the dining room was very busy at breakfast time. Our room was light and airy, lashings of hot water and we were not disturbed by sounds outside of the room, (so many hotels seem to have very thin walls where all you hear are doors opening and closing, people passing, and the other general sounds of a busy hotel). Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and variety, I loved the sausages. The car park on site was very handy, albeit a little tight to get into. The view from the breakfast room was spectacular. On arrival, around 19:30, I asked for an extension lead, needed for a piece of medical equipment - it was brought to the room in less than fifteen minutes. I have stayed in worse hotels, but not many better. A comfortable and pleasant base of operations for our weekend in Plymouth. Well done to all the staff. 29 May 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed After many happy and comfortable stays in this hotel, we found ourselves in an executive room which although clean, had a window which didn't close properly. This resulted in a loud whistling noise the whole night. Coupled with a very noisy bathroom fan and a basin tap that had to run for 5 minutes before cold enough to brush teeth! What a shame as we will now think twice before visiting this hotel again. The staff were as usual most friendly and helpful. 28 May 2014

My Wife and I have stayed in many Hotels around the country, yet, I can confidently say without any hesitation,that the Holday Inn , Plymouth is outstanding in everything. Very tired and in need of maintenance especially in the bathroom, hand rail falling off, shower damaged. Breakfast chaotic, should have been good as has lovely views, Staff appeared harassed and stressed. On the plus side great location, which is why a lot of people use it including my family. 28 May 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great family stay I visited with 3 children aged 5, and 10. This is a great family hotel - our room had a double bed and a bunk bed with a double underneath a single - plus a sofabed, could have slept loads of us in there!! We enjoyed all the facilities - complimentary drink in the bar (great views), swimming pool etc. The location is great, right next to Plymouth Hoe and a short walk from shops and the marina Barbican area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We'll be back! 22 May 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Overall Experience From the first reception, through room service, bar and mealtimes, to check out, the service here was exceptional. The room was large with all comforts and a superb view. The restaurant on the top floor had wonderful panoramic views over the Hoe and city and the food was of a good quality (not always the case for chain hotels). Inevitably the underground car park was somewhat dark and unwelcoming, but the charge was reasonable and access to the hotel by lift. Would highly recommend the hotel with present management and staff. Will certainly stay again. 10 May 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel, great location, fantastic service This was a good experience overall, the hotel itself was perhaps slightly lacking in character and felt a little bit dated, but the excellent service more than made up for that. The staff were always polite, helpful and very accommodating and overall I felt our weekend break offered really excellent value for money. Rooms were clean, breakfast offered a fantastic choice, and the location was superb. Parking, although a bit snug for our people carrier, was again extremely reasonably priced at only £3 a day. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again soon. 08 May 2014
