Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shopping weekend The hotel was in a great location with great views across the hoe also close to shops and restaurants, had no problem parking in the hotel carpark plenty of spaces to choose from, room was spacious and well equipped we ate in the hotel on our first night and found the food to be very good as was breakfast on both days, overall we had a great stay at this hotel and will return as soon as possible. 04 December 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by revamp very good. it was good to see new carpeting from car park stairs up to reception area. Also refurbishment after the fire . Much better than before. Good room with views. Comfortable bed. Maybe an extra pillow in the wardrobe would have been uesful. Breakfast is always top grade. An enjoyable stay. Used the pool/sauna facilities. Brilliant. Great rooms and plentiful car parking and a fantastic view from the restaurant on the 10th floor looking out over Plymouth and very close to all local amenities also. You wont be disappointed with a stay at this hotel. 29 November 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good location Did not like room it was rather tired looking, curtains ripped badly, furniture with cup marks all over it size of room good but not what I would class executive. I had rung twice to check we had sea view which we had looking through large machinery being dismantled the whole weekend. The breakfast was not brilliant eggs like rubber but the worst was when the people that Sat next to us were in pyjamas and fluffy slippers and had just got out of bed they were not kids but in their twenties where was a manager with a dress code Dreadful then on checkout charging for things I had not had it happens all the time I was told 26 November 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Our Stay at The Holiday Inn We have stayed here on a number of occasions - friendly staff, clean rooms, food is okay No problems. Its a nice hotel - Externally a bit dated but the inside is refurbished and clean and noise level is a minimum - have tried other hotels in the area but always go back here. Will be back again in the New Year..... What is good is that we have visited this hotel over a number of years and with regards to staff there are a few familiar faces which is lovely to see (Main reception and the restaurant), they are always friendly and professional. thank You 14 November 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and Convenient Just a short walk to the city centre and superb views over The Hoe and Drake's Island, this hotel is ideally situated with convenient (but tricky to negotiate) parking in the basement. The room was well laid out and the bed comfortable and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel is quite old and as we were on the tenth floor facing south we noticed we did experience a draught around the windows in the strong winds. Generally a very pleasant hotel with friendly staff. 07 November 2013

Staff very pleasant and helpful Stayed for one night, fantastic room,twin beds were both doubles. one of the best breakfasts we have ever had Would always recomend it to friends and family. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by an unforgetable stay The food is great and the views from the restaurant overlooking the sea and the town breaktaking . The staff at the restaurant is quite nice and helpful . However the receptionists should give the clients more information about the hotel and its amenities. Once upgraded , the superior room was quite comfortable . A place I would definitely recommend even if using the hotel car park can be quite a challenging experience with a big car 02 November 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and nice location Always use the Holiday Inn for my work visits to Plymouth. The staff are really friendly and always try to help. The location is excellent, and the rooms always clean and tidy. The room service food is some of the best you will find and very quick. The hotel is slightly older than some in Plymouth, but at least you get an indoor pool and sauna for those winter evenings. 25 October 2013

View from the restaurant was stunning, even in the rain, and food served at breakfast was fab and dinner likewise. All staff were courteous and helpful. Pool was larger than your usual hotel pool with steam room and sauna. Parking convenient but watch the pillars! Well be returning very soon. 24 October 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay. will stay again. as we are regular visitors to Plymouth we have seen this hotel but have never stayed here before. we had a last minute chance to get away for the weekend and we tried to book our usual hotel ( a well known brand with a comedian in their adds you all know the one) and found that the cost was bit more than we had paid in the past. so compared the cost to stay at the holiday inn and was surprised that it was about the same cost, including a breakfast and we could book an executive room for a couple of pounds etc. so we booked a room. we arrived early and parked in the under ground car which is a bit tight for large cars as people had mentioned in other reviews but there are drivers, and there are drivers if you know what I mean. we then proceeded to reception to make sure it was ok to leave the car and return later when we could book in and was surprised to find room was available and we could book in. the room was exceptionally clean and well presented. the bathroom was spotless the view from the window was fantastic. we dined in the restaurant that evening which is on the top floor with fantastic views over the hoe and city food excellent and great value ( two courses for two with a class of wine £29.99). breakfast Sunday morning great choices and varieties excellent all round. all staff very friendly helpful and welcoming. will be staying again and look forward to it. 23 October 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Single night stay - just what was needed Very reasonable rate with three of us staying in a room with two double beds. Very comfortable night's sleep. Shower hot and powerful. Excellent breakfast. Car parked for the full day only cost £3 - bargain. Only slight negative - a little grubby round the edges. Found a few examples of the room not having been well cleaned - hairs in bathroom (although bedding, etc. was absolutely fine# - and breakfast cups not all clean #one had an old coffee ring and another had lipstick on it). 23 October 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by small points Over all it was a good experience, our main problem was there was no instructions in the room or even in the lift, so we did not know much about the hotel, we could not find out how to operate the airconditioning, so we were too hot all night ( although better that than the other way) we did not know till it came time to leave there was a swimming pool, along with other things, and knowing which floors the various services were on was a matter of guess work.. Lovely evening meal and marvelous breakfast. Staff were very very helpful. Thanks for an overall pleasant stay Dave 18 October 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well situated, friendly and comfortable. What a view from the tenth! The hotel is a pretty ugly block but perfectly situated near the Hoe. The staff are friendly and welcoming and made every effort to ensure I was comfortable. The view from the restaurant on the top floor was fabulous- the sun coming up over the sea and the spectacular wheel glinting in the sun (its like the London Eye) were lovely. One thing that could be improved- the door closers are powerful and pull the doors closed with a slam. Thus when when the selfish drunks come in at 2 a.m. the whole floor shakes and your sleep is over. Some other hotels which shall be nameless have much better closers which pull the door to, then just click it closed. Much better. Apart from that- I enjoyed my stay! 11 October 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A little tired but great staff The bench covered in green slime and surrounded by smokers outside the reception door did not create a good first impression but the helpful, friendly staff soon helped to put us at our ease. Although we arrived early, we were still allowed to check in and found the room clean and adequate with comfortable bed and choice of pillows. The fittings looked a little tired and in need of a refit - especially the bathroom where the sealant was mouldy in places. Even with a refit, the bathroom would be very small and it would be very hard to make it any bigger. As we were only stopping one night it was fine for a quick shower but I wouldn't have used the bath. We slept very well as it was quiet and we were offered a deal for breakfast which was great. The dining room has a great view but didn't eat there in the evening. The situation for the the theatre, shops and pubs, restaurants was ideal and the price was reasonable so I would use this hotel again and recommend it for a short stay. 10 October 2013

It;s just a 5 min taxi ride from the train station and a minute walk into town. In the evening we walked the short 10 min stroll into the Barbican. Location was excellent. Staff were friendly and the room was really big. Overall, good value for money. 09 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, can't beat the service... We have been using the Holiday Inn, Plymouth for some years and without fail we always have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We would not consider staying anywhere else in the city. Since our last visit we had expected that Wi Fi would be available free to all paying guests and this was not the case. This has to change given that the local pubs and cafes and other establishments have this service freely available. We both use I pads and it would have been good to e-mail family and friends about the good time we were having.... Next time maybe?? 09 October 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Need a refurb The hotel feels like it's stuck in the 70's, the room was a good size, but the pillows were awful and cheap. We chose to eat out as the prices in the hotel were frankly ridiculous. The cheapest wine was 20gbp and the breakfast 15gbp, ouch! 09 October 2013
