Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Usual good service & comfort. Once again, my husband and I had an enjoyable stay for 4 nights, whilst we visited the Henley Royal Regatta. All the staff were very helpful, as usual, and they even telephoned before we left for our stay to advise us that the electricity supply would be closing down at 10.00 am on the morning of our departure. Even so, with such a difficult prospect, the Reception staff dealt with all clients with humour & courtesy. 09 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic staff! This is the best Holiday Inn I have stayed in in a long while. The hotel is a little dated in places but the staff by far make up for a little paint being needed here and there. The room was lovely and spacious and the bed was very comfortable, I was even able to get feather pillows. The swimming pool was lovely and very warm, it is quite a small pool but was never overcrowded, I liked that they give you towels there so you don't have to use the ones in the room and have separate male and female changing rooms. Laura on reception was extremely helpfull and was able to print my boarding passes off for me and print me a map of the area and recommend places to go, and was my go to person for the rest of my stay. All the staff have made me feel really welcome and all seem to go that extra step to make your stay special. All in all a lovely stay would definitely recommend. 07 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great in general but noisy and disturbed sleep and disappointed with food The walls were very thin and so was woken up by screaming children running up and down the hallway. The steak was overcooked and our duck salad lacked enough duck. Other than that food was good. The service was fantastic. Breakfast staff absolutely lovely and go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Gym facilities are perfect and great atmosphere throughout Hotel. 04 July 2014

All public areas were clean and bright and the service in all areas was swift and obliging. Housekeeping in particular were right on the ball. Large hotel all on G Floor which was a bit of a pain until we discovered access to car-park can be accessed half way down corridor. No free wifi however I believe they are getting this organised for mid July 2014. 02 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Cannot find a single thing to criticise and I am fussy! From the moment we arrived the lovely receptionist made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious from the bar menu. All staff were polite and went out of their way to help. A great guy at breakfast helped us sort out a trip to Coral Reef. The room was in first class condition and the bed extremely comfortable. A really fab hotel thank you! 02 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Don't go anywhere near the western burbs in Ascot week Hotel fine; just two problems, really. Internet access for "gold" & "platinum" - you get the basic, which is barely fast enough to load the hotel's own log-in page, so has no chance with anything else. This is a bit of an issue really, as a business traveller, web access is up there on the requirements list. One of the reasons I use IHG is because they offer free "web access" for "gold" & "platinum" rewards card holders. This isn't really much of an offer if the web access offered is no use. Please sort this, it's a common "feature" with Holiday Inns. Then, in common with pretty much every hotel in the area, prices shot through the roof in Ascot week. Not sure this makes me feel good about using this or any other hotel chain doing this. 02 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service friendly staff. we stayed at the holiday inn june with grandchildren to visit legoland they had a fantastic time they loved the hotel it was a bonus having the swimming pool the staff were child friendly would stay there again.the children would go back as they had a such a good time. good location for legoland only took us 20min. 01 July 2014

The room service menu is standard Holiday Inn fare except for the "skinny fries" served with the fish and chips - how could you! The WiFi is slow to the point of being useless. I was seeing about 0.2 Mbps download speeds. That's barely enough to get email but too slow for any web surfing. It really needs to be a lot faster if you plan on working in your room. Unfortunately the place is also a bit of a black hole for mobile coverage. 22 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly, Welcoming and Relaxed I have been staying with Holiday Inn at Reading South regularly for over 6 years. There are other hotels in the area, but this one consistently has the most friendly staff and is where I feel most 'at home'. I use the hotel facilities including gym, swimming pool, restaurant and bar and get good service in each. I also walk on the sports fields right next door to the hotel and occasionally attend football and rugby matches at Madejski Stadium which is walking distance from this hotel. Staff are responsive and do not take my custom fore-granted. I recommend this hotel 20 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by improve hospitality Our Holiday Inn expectations are best for hospitality and services, specially the front desk reception must be extra inviting, gold membership is elite and deserve extra hospitality in welcoming and room welcome with fruits which was missing and there was no fresh bottles of water. I was with my big family including four grandchildren and I (as a gold member) had booked two family and one twin rooms and we did not experience that touch of warm welcome which we normally receive. 19 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Young family friendly Stayed as part of a two night package including two days at legoland. Would highly recommend with small children. From the moment we checked in the children were welcomed (given a colouring/sticker pack each), the nightly cookies and milk were a big hit! Lots of parking available. Kids ate free in the delicious restaurant. Lots of choice for breakfast that even our fussy eaters liked (was included in our deal so no idea how much it cost). Waiting staff went out of their way with, the very smiley Italian waiter was very welcoming. The room is a little dated but spotlessly clean, the house keeping is exceptional. Room is easily large enough to accommodate the double bed and two singles. Plenty of towels in bathroom for us all. You could hear people in the room above a little hence the loss of one star. Would stay here again. Took about 20mins to legoland. 11 June 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Some issues this week. 1) Bathroom not serviced on Wednesday. No apology from housekeeping 2) Bedside and standard lamp both not working 3) TV channels have much interference tonight. For the first time I feel that advantage has been taken and that I have been a little neglected. Perhaps it's because I am here constantly. Ah well, let's hope next week is better.......... 05 June 2014
