Getting to the hotel on your own is difficult due to construction all over Riyadh. But walled off access road (security reasons probably) caused me to circle around for additional 5 minutes. I guess driving on your own in Riyadh is not the best idea right now.
The hotel grounds are secured and there is additional; checkup at entrance. It is annoying but I guess it gives additional feeling of security.
The concierge was friendly and efficient, but concierge desk was awkward. I felt more like I was in a bank than in a hotel.
The room was right across elevators so there was some sound coming from there but I could hear my neighbors as well. The room door was difficult to open and it took some effort to squeeze in. I'm on the bigger side so squeezing in is common, but opening the door was surprisingly difficult. The room was on the smaller side. I was expecting something bigger for the money, but I was tired and the bed was comfortable. Whole feel of the room was a bit worn. The bathroom was clean and spacious, but there were no handy hooks for big towels. There was a complimentary fruit platter and the fruit was fresh.
The bed was really comfortable and I was really tired so I slept well.
TV channels were OK, but I haven't watched much of it anyway.
Breakfast was good, tasty with good selection of foods. The only issue was there was no espresso. There was espresso machine though, but it wasn't working. Drip coffee was good.
After morning meeting I got back to hotel to freshen up for my drive back to Dammam. I was getting ready and ordered water with room service. I waited for an hour and called again as I wanted to leave, but no water. I don't usually get upset if I don't get served immediately, but I am staying in a hotel so I am not living in Riyadh, this is arid climate and no matter winter is close it is still warm. I don't know my way around Riyadh and finding a store in current traffic was out of the question so I decided to rely on hotel as after all I am their guest.
The concierge did provide complimentary water, but I was in cheaper places in middle east that provided better room service.
