Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Dirty room
We where there over new year has a dirty toilet and milk spill down the wood under fridge pretty noticeable. Toilet was cleaned once we complained, sent an email re this no one has ever got back to me to apologise, we realise it was a busy time but no excuses for a dirty room, and we felt when the person came to clean like we should never had complained it was like they where not happy we asked it to be cleaned. I am pretty disappointed that such a big place once I sent an email and photos re this no one has ever acknowledged my email.
Apart from that I have to say the food was amazing I would eat there again. The cleanness of the room was so disappointing, we also had a friend with us in the other room that have said they would never stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WillandGraceR Holiday Inn Rotorua was a pleasurable experience
Holiday Inn Rotorua far exceeded our expectations. There was plenty of parking and our check in welcome was warm and professional. We love the green branding outside the hotel too -- it's really clean, inviting and fresh.
There's a really warm, family-friendly and relaxed feeling at this hotel -- which you notice from the moment you enter their lobby. Sure there were business people and lots of tourists there, but the overall feeling was relaxed and inviting. It's hard to explain...but it's so much warmer than a lot of hotels we have stayed in.
Our room was the quality you expect from an IHG Hotel (we've stayed in a few), which was well planned and used the space well. We had a meeting table, a coffee table with relaxing lounge style chairs, very comfy beds and good storage for all our gear. The bathroom and air conditioning were excellent too. The TV was a little small, but it was still an LCD...but we were in Rotorua to have an adventure outdoors, not watch TV! :)
ALL of the staff went out of their way to greet us in passing and ensure if we needed anything, we had it fast.
We enjoyed their swimming pool and spa pool. We read that they are green in their approach to their heating, taking advantage of this thermal energy region.
Their restaurant, Chapman's, has world-class food. I personally have never tasted salmon that amazing! We were spoilt for choice with the buffet selection. There was curried pork, roast chicken and roast pork and beef and all kinds of seafood and salads and vegetables, and the desserts were to die for! OMG! We could have lived in this part of the hotel :).
There was a good sized bar and lounge area too, although we didn't use these.
The Wi-Fi was great. You know how you go to some hotels and the Wi-Fi speed is appalling? Well, not here. I asked one of their team why it was so good and it's due to the way it has been set up. They wanted to ensure everyone enjoyed great speed all the time, unlike a lot of shared Wi-Fi networks and the way they are set up for public spaces. So this meant we were able to stream movies online to our laptop with ease. (There were a couple of short pauses during the movie, but nothing that affected its enjoyment.)
We previously stayed at the Crowne Plaza Auckland (another IHG hotel) and their room was, for lack of a better term, higher-specced than ours at Holiday Inn Rotorua. BUT, we feel this hotel is less corporate and more family and adventurer, and for the price, it's unbeatable. For not much more than the cost of an average motel in the region, you can step up to a far, far better experience at Holiday Inn Rotorua.
We will definitely be back as it was a great experience; one that we did not want to finish.
