Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by AliNatt14 Great food, efficient staff and clean rooms.
Having had a little dispute over being able to claim some Zoo tickets which were supposed to be included in the accommodation price, our stay was really quite comfortable.
The Food was outstanding and as one vegetarian and one vegan, we were able to order from the menu and the chef was sympathetic to our needs, adjusting them accordingly.
Clean room and bathroom although the lighting in bathroom could be better. Quiet location, comfortable bed and pillows. We did a 6.30am swim which set us up for the day and the staff were efficient with all our needs when asked. Was great to have the option of not getting kicked out till 12 noon instead of 10am as we were able to relax a little before our Zoo trip and 5 hour journey home. Would stay again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by julio7044 Comfortable Hotel but Charge for WiFi
I don't usually complain, but I am getting tired of UK hotels charging extras. This is a really nice Hotel very conveniently placed beside the M56. The room was good and the choice of pillows great - a good night sleep had.
But why should we have to pay for WiFi? It has become standard across most countries for WiFi to be free of charge for guests.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mazers Clean and comfortable bed and great service.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly from the staff at reception on arrival to departure and also the bar staff. Small but very clean and comfortable room with an adequate bathroom/shower. The meals are good with a good selection. The only downside was the cost of drinks which I found expensive. Had they been cheaper I would have enjoyed the night more. But overall a good relaxed night with a quiet and comfortable room.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Sheffvisitor Poor value - anonymous hotel
The hotel is a big anonymous hotel with a strange layout where some of the bedrooms are downstairs!
The rooms feel divorced from the main hotel, big lounge and bar area but did not feel comfortable. Food generally over priced and no alternatives nearby.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by olaf B a one night stay
This was just a quick stay, on the way to the Open Championship. Hence we didn't use any of the facilities. The room was rather old, and in desperate need of refurbishment. Most of the furniture was unusable, as drawers / cupboard doors screwed shut.
Lighting was limited. Electricity outlets also limited.
The wifi also did not work for most of the time.

As ever quality hotel with attentive staff
Only disappointment was that the exec rooms now seem to have had their fridges replaced by trouser presses - absolutely no use for keeping the wine chilled!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by disappointed in Runcorn Beware of tiny rooms
Bedroom was small and cramped. the bathroom was even worse - you had to slide between the toilet and wash basin to be able to close the door!
We paid extra for an executive room, and could hardly move as it was crammed with furniture - there was just enough room to move around the bed - two people couldn't walk round at the same time.
There was only one bedside table.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nanagill good service
enjoyable short stay, picked this hotel as it was in the area we needed to be in with a swimming pool. All staff very attentive especially the staff in the dining room. The food was good and good choice for breakfastt but if you had tea you received a tea pot, coffee was poured for you out of heated flasks, which was only just hot enough, an improvement would be to have coffee pots on the table.

Felt very lucky to have found a last-minute room for my daughter and I en route for North Wales and wishing to visit Chester. The swim was refreshing in the middle of a busy weekend with lots of driving. The stay was very comfortable and peaceful.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisN69 Tired room, but good staff.
I stayed here for one night on business. I had travelled for 4 hours, then worked a further 10 hours, so was pretty tired when I got to the hotel.
I was given room 229. It was REALLY tired (more so than me!).
The staff were friendly, but failed to expalin how the keycard worked, so I had to return to reception when it failed to open my door.
I would stay again, but I would call to make the booking, as I would request a decent standard of room this time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tracie44 Good base to visit Cheshire
My husband and I booked this hotel due to its central location for our weekend away and the fact that it had a leisure club. We needed a base for a wedding in Warrington, a night out in Liverpool and a shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks.
The hotel was close enough to Warrington and Cheshire Oaks but quite a long drive out of Liverpool.
On arrival at the hotel, the staff were friendly and welcoming and quickly provided us with our room cards and information about breakfast and the leisure club.
Our room was compact, but plenty big enough for us and all our belongings. The bed was comfy and their was a choice of pillows, though they werent very easy to sleep on. The room was clean but the furniture was old and had seen better days. The room also smelt musty and the air conditioning didn't allow control of the room temperature, it was very warm in the room.
The bathroom was small but perfectly formed:- a small bath with shower over and a lovely big mirror over a sink with lots of work surface for make-up etc. The toiletries supplied were a little disapointing (soap and small bottle of shampoo), though there was a note that said that extra toiletries could be asked for at reception (such as comb, nail file, toothpaste). There was no indication to say if these items would be complimentary or chargable.
Breakfast was good. A cold cereal, fruit and yoghurt buffet with a choice of fruit juices, bread/toast and pastries and a selection of hot cooked breakfast. I requested poached eggs, I think they may have forgotton about my order as they eventually arrived after 20 mins when I had nearly finished my hot breakfast (after a reminder) -they were excellent when they arrived.
I was really looking forward to trying their advertised pancakes, but the machine was broken. The main problem with breakfast was the hap-hazard production of 'hot' drinks. On arrival at breakfast we were asked what we would like to drink. When the coffee eventually arrived it was luke warm and stewed, poured from thermos flasks. It would have been more efficient if the guests could help themselves to tea and coffee and the flasks could be replaced with fresh drinks regularly.
The leisure club was well used by local families but was spotlessly clean with pleasant and helpful staff. The pool was a good temperature and the jacuzzi was great. The steam room was just off the poolside and shared between males and females, it was spotlessly clean and very hot. I didnt try the sauna as they were in each changing room and I didn't want to go in on my own. I didn't use the fitness suite but it looked reasonably well stocked with a small selection of up-to-date equipment.
Over all I would be happy to stay again and bring my children and their grandparents as a base for local adventures.

I stayed 2 times in this hotel, the first time they put me in the 3rd floor, the room was very good and new but NO fridge. The second time they put me in the first floor, clean but outdated, vey old furniture, the toilet is smelly specially the bath curtain.

Although clean rooms they are a little dated with the old mahogany furniture. The lamp on the desk didn't work whilst I was trying to do some work. Despite being a club member(basic) I was charged for Internet access which I got free of charge in a Holiday Express the previous week. The staff were friendly on reception and in the restaurant.

We were having a short break in the Cheshire region, planning to visit North Wales, Chester etc and this hotel had a great offer on and was in a convenient location, near to the M-way.
Hotel was great, staff were attentive, the pool was great for my 2yr old daught to play in. The room was quiet and the breakfast selection was huge and tasty.
The room was a bit snug with three of us in there but it was comfortable. The A/C was great as the weather was very warm.
All in all, a great stay.

What a surprise... I have chosen not to stay at a Holiday Inn brand hotel for many years as my perception was you had sad facilities that needed more than TLC to improve them and Premier Inn were able to offer new facilities and deals that made it appropriate to stay there at the weekend but with a few niggles our stay was excellent and I will certainly be looking to visit your chain again

Our daughter held her wedding at this hotel and from the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The staff on reception where really friendly and helpful as were all other members of staff we encountered. The food catered for our wedding party was excellent and everybody in the party agreed. The cost of the room was fantastic value and I would recommend anyone to stay for this reason.
