Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good base to visit Cheshire My husband and I booked this hotel due to its central location for our weekend away and the fact that it had a leisure club. We needed a base for a wedding in Warrington, a night out in Liverpool and a shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks. The hotel was close enough to Warrington and Cheshire Oaks but quite a long drive out of Liverpool. On arrival at the hotel, the staff were friendly and welcoming and quickly provided us with our room cards and information about breakfast and the leisure club. Our room was compact, but plenty big enough for us and all our belongings. The bed was comfy and their was a choice of pillows, though they werent very easy to sleep on. The room was clean but the furniture was old and had seen better days. The room also smelt musty and the air conditioning didn't allow control of the room temperature, it was very warm in the room. The bathroom was small but perfectly formed:- a small bath with shower over and a lovely big mirror over a sink with lots of work surface for make-up etc. The toiletries supplied were a little disapointing (soap and small bottle of shampoo), though there was a note that said that extra toiletries could be asked for at reception (such as comb, nail file, toothpaste). There was no indication to say if these items would be complimentary or chargable. Breakfast was good. A cold cereal, fruit and yoghurt buffet with a choice of fruit juices, bread/toast and pastries and a selection of hot cooked breakfast. I requested poached eggs, I think they may have forgotton about my order as they eventually arrived after 20 mins when I had nearly finished my hot breakfast (after a reminder) -they were excellent when they arrived. I was really looking forward to trying their advertised pancakes, but the machine was broken. The main problem with breakfast was the hap-hazard production of 'hot' drinks. On arrival at breakfast we were asked what we would like to drink. When the coffee eventually arrived it was luke warm and stewed, poured from thermos flasks. It would have been more efficient if the guests could help themselves to tea and coffee and the flasks could be replaced with fresh drinks regularly. The leisure club was well used by local families but was spotlessly clean with pleasant and helpful staff. The pool was a good temperature and the jacuzzi was great. The steam room was just off the poolside and shared between males and females, it was spotlessly clean and very hot. I didnt try the sauna as they were in each changing room and I didn't want to go in on my own. I didn't use the fitness suite but it looked reasonably well stocked with a small selection of up-to-date equipment. Over all I would be happy to stay again and bring my children and their grandparents as a base for local adventures. 03 July 2014

The second time they put me in the first floor, clean but outdated, vey old furniture, the toilet is smelly specially the bath curtain. also the doors are vey noisy when it closed. 01 July 2014

Despite being a club member(basic) I was charged for Internet access which I got free of charge in a Holiday Express the previous week. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good location and facilities We were having a short break in the Cheshire region, planning to visit North Wales, Chester etc and this hotel had a great offer on and was in a convenient location, near to the M-way. Hotel was great, staff were attentive, the pool was great for my 2yr old daught to play in. The room was quiet and the breakfast selection was huge and tasty. The room was a bit snug with three of us in there but it was comfortable. The A/C was great as the weather was very warm. All in all, a great stay. 25 June 2014

I have chosen not to stay at a Holiday Inn brand hotel for many years as my perception was you had sad facilities that needed more than TLC to improve them and Premier Inn were able to offer new facilities and deals that made it appropriate to stay there at the weekend but with a few niggles our stay was excellent and I will certainly be looking to visit your chain again 19 June 2014

The staff on reception where really friendly and helpful as were all other members of staff we encountered. The food catered for our wedding party was excellent and everybody in the party agreed. The cost of the room was fantastic value and I would recommend anyone to stay for this reason. 19 June 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service and a good nights kip We were doing a 14 day charity cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats and stayed through a recommendation in our guide book. We covered 80 (up and down)! miles that day, so arrived exhausted. The staff were very helpful, the room clean and comfortable and we had a good meal and breakfast. We were able to store the bikes safely and on our departure the following morning the receptionist Sally donated to our charity, The East Anglia Children's Hospice. Thank you Sally for this kind and generous act and for making a good overnight stay a real delight! Andy and Nik 12 June 2014

Sally and all the staff that attended to us were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The functions rooms were beautifully prepared, the waiting on staff were excellent during our 'surprise' waiters, the food was very good, the bar staff were very professional too! Breakfast was spot on too. Oh! And not to forget the porter who had tidied our wedding things up all ready for us to take away - fabulous!. Thank you again - I would highly recommend this venue to any prospective brides! 15 May 2014

This was done for us despite the hotel being full the evening before. The front desk staff were polite and always smiling. The hotel areas were clean and tidy as was our bedroom. We have no complaints about our stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it to others. 15 May 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by rooms need updating shabby furniture We arrived and were given a key to a room that was already occupied so that could have been embarrassing to the occupants and we backed out of the room rapidly. We were then given a key to a small room from the dark ages with shabby old furniture out of the ark on floor 1. I went back for the 3rd time to ask to be moved again but was told the hotel was full and we couldn't be moved. This is the worst holiday inn we have stayed in for room comfort and the price for internet was extortionate at £16. Needless to say we wont be returning. 08 May 2014

On one occasion we couldn't get back into our room as neither of our cards would work but that very quickly resolved by the reception staff so not an issue. Modern technology I suppose! 26 April 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed emotions Our stay started particularly well, as we arrived early and were able to get a slightly early check in. The hotel was very busy due to a Wedding Party being held on the same night as our stay. In general most of the hotel was good, and what I expect from a Holiday Inn Hotel. Good look to the hotel, stylish bar and reception area, although the bar was a bit on the small side. The rooms were clean, and everything was fully functioning, however the one criticism of the rooms were that in one of the rooms the wall must've been paper thin, as it sounded like the adjacent room was drying their hair in our room. The restaurant area was also very well designed and laid out, however once again (possibly due to the wedding party) was exceptionally loud, and myself and the family felt we couldn't enjoy our meal as much as we normally do when staying at a Holiday Inn. Aside from the 2 noise issues, we did have a pleasant stay, just wish we had been able to relax more. Overall I would recommend the property, however not if you are looking for a peaceful break. 17 April 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just about OK I thought this hotel was just OK. The communal areas were well maintained. The reception, bar, restaurant were all very nice. The rooms were pretty poor though. They looked tired. What was more disappointing is that the room I stayed in wasn't particularly clean - especially the bathroom. On a positive note, the gym and pool were good and there was lots of car parking. 14 April 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff But Poor Room I stay in IHG Hotels on a regular basis for work and always find them very good but I have to say that on this occasion I felt more than a little disappointed as I had my wife with me. The hotel itself is impressive appearance wise and I booked an executive room in order to make things extra comfortable for my wife and myself. The staff were very helpful and friendly but I couldn't help but think when we got to our room that they had made a mistake, it was so small,very hot and in generally poor repair. Thinking they had got my booking wrong I went straight back to reception to question the apparent mistake. Sadly it wasn't a mistake and that was one of the larger rooms,the lady on reception was very helpful and looked for an alternative but the rooms were all booked. Overall I am happy with IHG products and will probably continue to use them, however I think that this hotel should not be advertising executive rooms of this size and condition. 04 April 2014
