reception staff friendly and efficient. however the hotel is dated and in need of an overhaul and upgrade. room was cold upon arrival. left heating on full whilst tried a drink at he bar, not a good idea. Carlsberg and John Smiths on draught do not make an inspiring selection. limited space in bar and reception area meant retiring to room as soon as it was warmed up

Heating in room was either too hot or too cold. Noise from A1 has very bad and did not stop through the night.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Euge 22 Should not be part of the Holiday Inn range
The hotel is not up to standard, the rooms are tired and old fashioned. The bar is not a area you can sit and relax with a drink, and don't expect to be able to purchase a bottle of wine!
The breakfast is very poor, coffee tasted cheap, sausages were not fresh and were obviously frozen.
Stay well away!!

Booked this online as Holiday Inn have a good reputation. The outside and the inside of the hotel are not just tired - they're knackered! Shower dribbled out rather than flowed. Shower rail was rusty. Room was cold and even though there was a heater it didn't throw out much heat.
Really disappointing :-(

I stayed for one night only and found the staff very helpful and friendly. Dinner was nice enough, nothing special but seeing that this hotel is based next to the A1 eating in was my only option. My room was clean and comfortable and check out was painless.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Haggis08 Handy stopover going north on A1
We chose this hotel as it is so easily accessed from the A1. There was a problem on check in when our reservation could not be found but this was resolved by a very helpful front of desk staff. In fact, all of the staff members we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel needs to be updated and the rooms are quite basic but adequate for overnight stops. the bar area is not the most inviting and does not encourage one to spend any time there. Fortunately, the staff make up for any shortfalls, unless you are a person who is hard to please.
