Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel but overcharged and no help in resolving this We booked a room for 2 adults and a child with dinner and breakfast,and paid upfront with an additional 25 pounds to cover charges to the room. The hotel seemed good, nice room,helpful staff, we enjoyed the pool and gym, dinner was ok apart from a grumpy cook being rude, we had 6 drinks which would have been covered by the extra £25 payment. We would have recommended this hotel. However, a few days later we found an additional charge of over £85.00 had been made to our bank account, called the hotel on the premium rate number and someone promised to call us back, there was no callback. We emailed ihg customer relations who promised a response within 48 hours from the hotel, 49 hours later no response. Called the premium rate number again and the person at reception said they would call back in half an hour, 3 hours later and again no call back. We have not even had a courtesy call to say someone is looking in to it, just being ignored. If you want an experience like this then go ahead and book 23 August 2014

We were allocated an area of the dining room so that we could all eat breakfast together. Staff were very efficient and attentive. 23 August 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing stopover with kid friendly staff We stopped over en route back from holiday in France with 3 tired kids. Very friendly service from all staff, particularly with the kids who ate for free. Restaurant had a buffet on for dinner but reasonably priced bar meals were still available and good quality. Internet access was reliable in both rooms and common areas and service was good. We had booked on a good advance rate which made the stay good value. Having stopped at a number of different Holiday Inns across the UK this was everything I expected from a stay here. 22 August 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A wholly bad experience The main problem was the food. The bar meal we had on arrival was just plain bad. My salt beef hash consisted of a few pieces of "beef" and the rest was huge amount of boiled potatoes cut in half. My wife's fish was OK but the chips were soft greasy and too well done and not eaten. The cost of the 2 meals was refunded at departure but arriving after a long day we wanted decent meals not free inedible meals. The breakfasts (3 days) were the worst we have had in any IHG hotel. The bacon was the cheap type where the meat is injected with water and results in a white scum on the bacon when cooked. The eggs were very greasy and hard even when having waited for fresh ones to be cooked. The tomatoes were not fully cooked, the hash browns hard and all the food, even when freshly brought out cooled very quickly. The sausages though were reasonable. We never received our paper on the first morning and cancelled them thereafter. The accessible room had no roll in shower. None of reception staff, except the lady who checked us out, appeared to be on top of their jobs. The counter at Reception was so high that only the top of my head was above the surface as I was sitting in a wheelchair. At check in another customer ignored me and went straight in front of me to be served, it was only after I objected that the receptionist attended to me first, but this seemed to have annoyed her and I was treated very vaguely. 21 August 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Staff, clean hotel, just avoid the dinning! The hotel was clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The gym facilities were also good. Unfortunately the hotel was let down by a very poor quality of food, which was compounded by over 1 hour waiting time. TV free view channels were limited, and the WIFI was also poor. However, the front desk staff did their very best to make up for the poor food where they could. 18 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and cleanliness was good The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. The bed linen etc was good and the mattress was firm. I do have a disability and staff were most helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They asked if they could assist with breakfast and they served me at my table. The breakfast was all beautifully cooked and plenty to eat to set you up for the day ahead. I would definitely stay again. 17 August 2014
