Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent experience. We recently stayed at the Chicago North Shore Holiday Inn (Skokie), and had an excellent experience in every aspect of our stay. The room size was ample, the king bed was comfortable, the counter area around the sink in the bathroom was roomy enough to hold all our toiletries and then some, and the room was extremely clean and quiet. The front desk staff was pleasant and accommodating and our room rate was a great value. I know we'll be back! 23 October 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a GREAT experience! We were in for a conference hosted by Holiday Inn and opted to make our reservations there for ease. What a good choice! Our room was quite--I didn't hear neighboring showers or hallway voices or housekeeping banging. The bathroom was roomy enough that I didn't feel crammed into a closet. The bed was comfortable. The only suggestion I would make is that there are more vending areas than currently exist. 21 October 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A wonderful place to stay The staff was so accomodating. We were there with two over 90 year olds. They gave us two adjoining rooms (one handicapped for them). They always made sure everything was good. The breakfast there was delicious. Even though the breakfast is not included, they gave us coupons that covered the costs of 2 of the buffets. We will stay there again when we are in Chicago next time. Its also in a quieter part of Chicago but still near enough. 19 October 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK for 1 night stay I travel frequently for business so where I stay tends to be close to where I need to go that has parking. I opted not to leave for dinner because I was warned by the front desk that there was an event and parking would be limited following 6pm. Bar Louis was nice and the food was good. Breakfast at the Corner Bakery and Cafe was excellent, I wish I would have went for dinner the previous evening but was fearful I wouldn't have a spot to park. The beds in this hotel are very hard. When I opened a clean hand towel I found hair. There was also hair in the bathtub/shower. 18 October 2013

The Indoor pool and Spa was nice and relaxing. The hotel itself was very clean. The rooms were nice and cozy. The Staff were friendly. I will definitely stay here again. 18 October 2013

Everyone on the staff was friendly, and having lemonade and water with orange slices in the lobby was a nice touch. Getting some free breakfast coupons and a treat bag at check-in for being a rewards-club member was a pleasant, unexpected surprise. The indoor pool was beautiful, and the water temperature was great -- not too hot and not too cold. Having a refrigerator and a microwave, along with an easy-to-work coffee maker, in the room was great. The room was really comfortable. The hotel is close to a bus stop, so you can take a bus right to the Howard Street L station if you are relying on public transportation to get around. The bus comes about every 40 minutes. 14 October 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very Thin Walls The hotel has a nice overall appearance. The front desk clerk was very friendly. The parking lot was completely full in front. We had to walk quite a ways around the back after finding an open spot in the annex parking area. The good thing is that there is no additional fee for parking. The room was sort of outdated looking, but very clean. The toilet seemed very small. The beds were comfortable. But the walls...the walls seemed paper thin. I could hear everything said in the room next to us, from normal conversation to louder excitement. Needless to say, we did not get a good night of sleep, as the people in the next room were quite loud and were up very early. After finally falling back asleep, housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:50am. That was it for any chance of more sleep. Overall, the hotel is clean and the beds comfortable. But if you need a good night of sleep, you might not get it. 09 October 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent hotel @ Skokie Much better than the impression gathered from net search & surveys. Location is quite convenient, again - better than it appeared from the websites. A short walk from mall where you get everything that may be needed for a stay. Across the road from bus-stop. Convenient connection to Chicago through Chicago-swift / subway. If you've something to do in Skokie - this is probably the best place to stay. Linda at the reception was GREAT... genuinely warm and affectionate, genuinely efficient. 14 September 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Need serious renovation At least change the carpet, it stinks bad. Also, room doors and locks needs to be changed. Every now and then the room key would stop working and the Reception would give one excuse or another. Opening / closing room doors is also a mission.. 05 September 2013

The staff was very helpful and I especially appreciated that someone at the desk printed out my boarding pass as I was traveling without any devises. My only complaint is that the Bar/Restaurant was very loud. The first night there was a very noisy group but I felt that it wasn't all their fault. Perhaps it was the acoustics. The next evening a friend & I walked in planning to have dinner but there were a couple of very loud men & we just walked out & ate at the restaurant next door. Like I said all else was great & the bar was fine for breakfast & lunch, just too noisy in the evening. 04 September 2013

I want to give excellent credit to the front desk staff, restaurant servers, and housekeeping crew for their service. They accommodate to your needs are very friendly and welcoming. On the first night we noticed that AC was not working properly and tried to call front desk but came to know that room phone was also not working, made complain about it next day and lady told that she will check but when came back in evening AC was not working call front desk and reply was that they don't know any thing about it and can not do any thing at this time because maintenance man was not their. Come back to room in afternoon and found that room service was not done when asked they said it is not done because do not disturb sign was on door, but their was no such sign their. When checking out no receipt was issued when asked for it they said they only issue them on request. No apology was asked for the inconvenience we had from non working AC of the room. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service-Hairy Upkeep The only thing that saved this trip was the outstanding service that was provided from the front desk, security, and restaurant staff (Jodie). The room was not in the best shape with wall paper peeling back, nicks and scuffs on wall and the security latch was so loose the screws were falling out. The bathroom was large but the first thing my wife noticed was a "hair", if you get my drift, on the hand towel next to the sink. Seeing this made us think the room was unclean. Our view was of the roof of another room on the interior side of the building. They could dress this appearance up a bit with some fake plants or something. It wasn't very aesthetically pleasing. The vending machines were terrible: didn't work, or were out of product. $2.00 for a bottle of water? The Crowne Plaza was $1.25 and I was told I could go across the street if I needed something that was out. The pool opened at 9am on a Saturday, so we checked out and left. Had the pool been open we would have stayed and had lunch at the restaurant. As stated, the service was excellent, the property itself and attention to detail was poor. The hair event really summed up the whole experience. 27 August 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great staff! Excellent service! Kudo to all staffs! It was excellent service throughout our stay. They were prompt in taking care of things like replacing a hair dryer that did not work, providing us with extra towels as we had our children with us, directing us to the hotel's self-serve laundry room, and most importantly, keeping our room very tidy and clean. Checking in and out was a bliss. Of course, there are always some room for improvement. While it's kept clean and tidy, the room looks old and may need some sprucing up. The coffee maker is located in the bathroom area - perhaps not a good idea. The stopper in the washroom sink did not work. Overall, it was a pleasant stay! 21 August 2013

Room itself is not big, air conditioner was a little noisy. Refrigerator in the room is a plus. Staff was very professional and accommodating. 17 August 2013
