Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and friendly staff but over priced The hotel is really nice, very modern, comfortable and clean. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming and the ladies on the front desk were really helpful. I would highly recommend breakfast which offered good variety and excellent quality (Tip: pay for breakfast upfront). As we stayed during the Sonisphere festival, the prices were quite inflated and for this reason I felt that I had overpaid for a room which would have been 50% cheaper if not for the festival. Regarding the bed, in my personal opinion, I found the mattress too hard and this for me was the only let down for this hotel, otherwise it was an excellent experience. 08 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice but expensive. Although the room itself was very nice. The restaurant was very over priced. That said I opted for the burger that was incredibly tasty, so can't fault how good the food was. Just the price was a bit over the top sadly. 08 July 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A Modern Hotel The hotel is centrally situated in the new town of Stevenage. Inside the lobby is of fresh, modern appearance, as are the rooms, with wide corridors that help to ameliorate the usual hotel functionalism. Unfortunately, check-in & general service was poorly organised, slow & mildly careless. By contrast, the waiting staff at dinner were attentive & efficient & the menu & quality of cooking was excellent. At breakfast the rather lax attitude was emerged again. Beyond taking a room number & bringing rather cool coffee, the staff seemed more interested in their own concerns than the guests & it took some time to attract attention to get more (slightly hotter) coffee. Although no upgrade was available, I was given a family room which was comfortable contemporary & well-designed. The strangest hotel offer I have encountered took the form of a card headed, "Why drink water?" which offered a free glass of wine with a meal in the restaurant. Anyone who does not drink alcohol would be disappointed if they asked for water as a substitute on the grounds that the answer to "Why drink water?" is "Because it's better for you!" Oh, well, so much for the Sevenage Temperance Union! 07 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but disappointed. I generally stay with the Holiday Inn Express and find them excellent for a buisiness user. The Holiday inn was good and of a similar standard but with the express brand, you get free wifi, free parking and free breakfast which was not the case with the holiday inn. I did not dine in the restaurant as it looked over priced, I chose to dine elsewhere instead, even the drinks were more expensive than elsewhere. The reveiw may sound negative which would be unfair because everything else was to the usual IHG great standard . The Express is literally just around the corner so I think that would be a better option value for money wise. 21 June 2014

Probably the previous occupant made a prank: remote control of TV did not work (no batteries?) and at 6:30 there was an alarm. For me it didn't work since I was too tired to watch TV and due to jet lag, I woke up before 6:30 anyway. 16 June 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Better than average but not great Since I constantly get requested to leave my feedback, here it is: I spend a high number of night in this hotel recently which does already give an indication that for myself it is acceptable to stay. Other hotels are not that lucky. Overall I must admit that I feel good to be sour rounded with capable personal, some of them simply blessed with great sense of hospitality. Having said that, there is a minor disadvantage. Being not only platinum member myself, the ambassador level comes on top of that. The distinction is simple as per regulation a room must be available if requested 72 hours in advance as well as it must be upgraded (Ambassador). Due to popularity it seems both are not a given and most of the time not granted. Furthermore I even got walked out one night, which got handled very well by the staff in charge. 19 May 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stay here all the time, home from hem but a few niggles I stay all the time but recently the wifi signal is really poor, it's great you have it as a bonus but it's no use if it's so poor you can't do anything more than send an email. After 10pm it's better but too late. Also, you advertise to have bits you might forget, I have forgotten a razor several times and you never have any. Finally, please can you get shower gel ? You provide bath foam only as shower gel in rooms with no baths ! As I said niggles ! Staff are lovely, rooms are clean, comfortable and usually quiet ( unless you get a con joining room and then you can hear someone snoring next door ) food is nice too, once you've stayed a couple of times you get over the parking over the road ! 03 May 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by modified room reservation according to my e-mail an executive room is reserved for me, but when i arrived at the hotel i was informed by the receptionist that i book a standard room & if i want to be upgraded i have to pay £20.00. i was totally disappointed when i look at my e-mail that my room was modified. the receptionist cannot explain to me clearly why i was upgraded them downgraded. she then gave us a standard room with a bath because the first room she gave us is shower only. this is the first time this happened to me in my 7 years of membership in the ihg club. i was so embarrassed by this experience. i hope that this modification will not happen again. 28 April 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stop over Ok, so this hotel isn't in the best position (next to 4 lanes of traffic and a fire station) however, it is an excellent stop over prior to traveling into London and it isn't noisy!. The town is just through a subway and there is a big leisure park nearby with a good range of eateries. Nice staff. 24 April 2014

On the night in question there was a function on & cars were palked in every available place. Previously I have had issues with the cleanliness of my room but everything was fine this time. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy party - cold breakfast items Stayed here on 29th march 2014 - arrived to find a queue at reception - took 15 minutes to check in. Receptionist was "polite" without giving the impression she was being or meant to be ! Maybe unhappy that we booked through - as she kept saying that room may not be what we booked because of this. Lighting in room was not very bright - some would say it is ideal for relaxing - certainly could not read except under corner lamp. No bin liners in bins - not a problem for the gusets but unhygeinic and more work for the cleaning staff. Duvets on double bed are only just big enough for the bed - so when there are people in the bed there is a nice air gap around the edges ! Being Saturday night there was a party going on on the 1st floor - we were on the 3rd so thought no problem - what a mistake ! - constant boom boom music kept us awake until 1am (on the night where you already lose an hour because the clocks go forward) - so got up not well rested. Breakfast - scrambled egg, bacon and black pudding were all cold - sausages were warm - When checking out we mentioned the noise to the receptionist who asked if we would like to speak to duty manager - said we would if available - but what a waste of time - the man, unlike most of the other staff we had dealt with, just didn't care - and when I commented that he obviously did not care about the guests comfort he just grinned. Guess what - we won't be going back again ! 31 March 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by One night weekend stay Arrived at the Hotel at 15:20 to be abruptly told no rooms are ready 'as we cannot get people to leave, we had a party last night. I wasn't aware of the time when I walked in so glanced at my watch - didn't say a word, to be picked up on by the receptionist stating ' Yes we are all aware you should have a room by two?? advised receptionist of car registration as didn't pick up on exec room status parking, was told' Will let you park there for a little while until you get your room but you will then have to move across the road'? Looking at me as if I should be eternally grateful? Two things 1, considering you couldn't even give me a room as a small gesture of your error you could have waited until later or delivered the message in a better way and 2. I would perhaps suggest parking on a first come first served basis and prove/demonstrate the differential of 'status' in your rooms and service. Anyway, biting my tongue and as a frequent traveler, appreciating these things happen went to bar where thankfully the service was far more friendly and the guy was efficient, nothing was too much trouble and most importantly he had basic courtesy and manners - Good guy a credit to your property Gerard. Went back to reception at 16:20 and was delayed longer whilst new receptionist was looking for a room, at least this one was pleasant - was finally allocated room 500 which seemed ok bit grubby but considering we were now late for a pre wedding day party couldn't be bothered for the reception experience again. Bedroom was fine, but bathroom and especially the door and curtain were dirty Got back at about 23:00 tried to set up a wakeup call for the wedding day discovered the button function did not work? Attempted to call downstairs to find all the buttons didn't work. So went downstairs to be advised whilst acknowledging the problem no manual call could be placed... All in all the property is actually good, big rooms, some staff ok, food good, location was good for us BUT, staff retraining especially client facing and ensuring product quality need to be improved. 31 March 2014

Although the parking is limited, there's an easily accessed car park directly opposite. The service is good, the staff friendly and the food/drink perfectly acceptable, I would definitely recommend this hotel. 28 March 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall good impression Friendly attentive staff, clean guest room, comfortable bed and good food in the restaurant. Luckily due to a room upgrade, I was able to park in the hotel car-park next to the entrance, otherwise I would have had to park in the multi-story across the main road which would have been difficult since my car is left-hand drive (I live abroad), and of course the need to transport luggage over a distance. Two minor negative points : room was dark, even with all lights on. the promised morning newspaper did not materialise as none had been delivered. this was - not the hotel's fault. 14 February 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious, comfortable and very pleasant hotel This is currently my favourite Holiday Inn hotel. Having spent 12 years in a mobile job I've stayed in a few, both in the UK and abroad. The décor is excellent and gone are the usual long narrow corridors of typical hotels. Instead they are wide, spacious, well lit and well decorated. The rooms are non-standard too with coloured lighting, classy bathrooms (which aren't typically stuck in the corner of the room# and quality facilities. The only negative is the heating is provided by air conditioning units which take time to warm a room in winter and turn off when you leave the room #key activated). Parking isn't great being over the other side of a dual carriageway but its not too bad. 16 January 2014
