Have stayed at this property many times over many years and sadly both service and quality have got worse recently
Was given a very rare "upgrade" this visit to an executive room, no robe in the room and no toiletries in the bathroom, when I asked, I was informed they had run out and could only offer me a bar of soap and shampoo, same the second night. Bar very poorly stocked, 2 drinks requested were out of stock and the barmen seemed to have very little idea what he was doing or offering.
Breakfast also poor, some of the bread was rock hard, hot food only lukewarm, asked for poached eggs on toast was told to get my own toast. Second morning left early, it seemed there was no staff around only 2 gentlemen trying to cope with a coach party and guests
All in all I got the impression that cost cutting is taking preference over customer service and this is not what you expect from IHG, it is sad as over my many stays this was a very nice place to stay, but if things continue as at this visit I will have to look elsewhere in the future.
Staff are the only saving grace.

Great for working nights, was met by a night porter and organised breakfast in bed.
Was a bit noisy when trying to sleep in the day.

I always have a good stay at this hotel friendly staff, only draw back is no pool or gym.
