Having arrived after a long drive, we found the room we booked was not as per the description. We spoke to the duty manager who was very polite and accommodating, given that there was a wedding reception taking place and he was understandably under pressure.
The outcome was we had an enjoyable stay because of the great staff and management attention.

On our arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly lady and gentleman. They were super, offered us complimentary tea or coffee and couldn't have done anymore. The room is excellent, clean, tidy, fresh and spacious. There was an issue with the TV working which was sorted asap. There is a pool, which is small, but enables relaxation. Rooms are not topped up with water/tea/coffee each day which was the only, if, negative I would have. A great experience for a great price! Highly recommended.

I have stayed here multiple times and can honestly say it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Upon check in the service was absolutely excellent (once we were upgraded free of charge to an executive suite due to a internet booking error!) and staff are friendly, helpful and sincere. Too often with large hotel chains the service seems forced and false, but that is not the case with this hotel. Last time I was checked in by Alex (I think!) who was very polite and charming. The attitude of the staff really does make a difference, especially to a young woman travelling alone, I instantly felt comfortable and at ease.
Every room I have stayed in has been immaculately clean, modern and comfortable. I have stayed in 5 star hotels for triple the cost that do not even come close to this hotel.
Highly recommended, excellent staff and the best nights sleep I've had in ages.

Maybe my understanding is wrong, but I thought Holiday Inn was suposed to be slightly better than Holiday inn express. Having stayed in an "express" the night before, I can tell you it was not on this ocasion.
Mould on bathroom ceiling is never a good sign, although rest of room was fine. Problem was location, room on ground floor got lots of passing traffic, doors slamming and a wafer thin door on my room resullted in lots of noise and a poor nights sleep, and Iam a heavy sleeper.
Restaurant was set up as a temporary affair due to event at hotel, staff whilst pleasant appeared poorly trained and could offer only one type of red wine??
I would drive past this hotel to get to an " Express".

difficult to locate initially,poor signage ,location within earshot of busy M6 motorway.have to drive into Walsall for amenities.Saturday night extremely busy with weddings and other receptions so had to go out of hotel for dinner.Staff very friendly and helpful,would recommend for short stay only

Arrived late and asked for a late check out as I had a full days work ahead of me driving and setting up a show. Was allocated room on the ground floor and found urine on the toilet seat so had to clean myself. Didn't want to make a fuss.
Woke around 8.30am to the sound of maids in the hallway laughing and chattering followed by young kids running up and down the corridor but managed to get back to sleep to be woken about 1 hour later by a conference occupying 3 rooms opposite my room and they were all taking a coffee break outside my room .
I was very annoyed at this point so went to the front desk to complain and was greeted by a very ignorant receptionist who while painfully listening to my grievances replied with "Why are you blaming me" I was not passing blame I merely wanted an apology and some kind of explanation why they would have conference rooms right next to bedrooms and why they would put me there if we were late arrivals and needed to sleep in late.
Would not book there again.

I was so pleased with the quality of this hotel, especially in the light of what I paid. Hotel lobby was welcoming and clean and room was of a very high standard. I noticed around 8.30pm that the heating wasn't working in the room and it felt a bit chilly, but the duty manager sorted this out in no time. I would definitely stay there again. Just three things that would have made it better:
1. More staff on check in desk. The staff were superb, but could have done with 2 people on the desk in busy periods. I checked in at 5.30pm and out at 10.15am and it took around 10 minutes each time.
2. You have to get a keycard each time you want to use the leisure facilities. Why not issue one on arrival for the duration of your stay? This led to more time queuing at the already busy check in desk.
3. Affordable breakfast. The room value was great, but the add on value for breakfast was £19 just for me. This may have been a glitch, but if not, this is a ridiculous price which is why I sorted breakfast elsewhere.
Did you also know that the website is contradictory regarding the internet. It says:
Standard Internet service is free for all guests
Then a few lines down says:
Standard Room Wireless Fee for Non-Elite IHG® Rewards Club
This implies there is some kind of internet access (non wifi, so Ethernet?) that is free for all which there isn't.

Great lounge and bedroom really nice.
Queued at reception for 15 mins as one man checking in on a busy Friday night.
Breakfast I was told I had not paid for breakfast and was stung £12.95 for a very average breakfast.
Conf room facilities were a bit disorganised for a weekend and it seemed evening events prep were more important than us. Shame really.

perfect room except for one tiny detail, the black mould on the ceiling above the bath. Maybe i am just being picky.
Only one shower in the mens changing for the pool has a soap dispenser.
All in all great with just these minor details.

Arrived at the hotel in the evening after a long day working and driving. Called to order room service at 9:43pm and was told they had shut the kitchen. When I pointed out that the menu says you can order food up until 10pm I was told that on fridays they shut early. To which I said so when do you shut and was told 9:45pm. Eventually they agreed to take the order, but I was told it may take up to 45mins. I find this confusing considering they said they were shutting early, but nevermind. So dead on 45 mins later room service arrived. The food was cold and the burger did not taste right. There was no point me complaining at this point as the kitchen was shut and I hadn't eaten all day so cold chips was all I got.
In the morning I then took some bits to my car (did not check out) and then went to the morning session of a course I was on. When I returned the room was already being cleaned despite me not having checked out. Why staff don't check before going into rooms I don't know.
After my day course I then stupidly decided to order some chips before I started my 3 hour drive home. An hour later no chips! So I went and got it refunded and was told some rubbish about the printer not working.
2 days after my stay I checked my credit card statement to see that yes the refund had been made, but the day after I left they decided to take the payment for the food I did not get and had refunded again. I call the hotel to get it refunded again and concern that without my permission a payment is taken. They obviously needed a different department to look into it and they will of course call me back and yes of course it will be today. Yes you guessed it no call back.

I read the poor remarks about this Hotel and often wonder if I am staying at the same place!
Once again, I had another excellent stay. Staff were friendly and attentive. I was recognised as a Priority Club Member on arrival and was allocated a room at the back of the Hotel, which was very quiet and added to two great nights sleep! I left the Hotel refreshed and ready for my final day on business.
Breakfast both days was hearty and well cooked and the staff were excellent.
I really can't fault this Hotel. If I did, they would know about it, as I would mention it to them at the time.

It was for my son s wedding they made sure everything was perfect the bedrooms the reception the food was all top notch my only snipe is every time i fetched my grandson a orange cordial and water the price ranged from £1 50 to £2 10 depending on who served you other than that all good

Hotel and room were both excellent and comfortable with excellent amenities. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful at all times. We had a fantastic stay. The only criticism I would have was that the service in the restaurant was slow.

Hotel was OK it was the staff that were the problem, the only thing they were interested in was ensuring everything was paid for at the moment you ordered - customer care was not an issue, making you feel comfotable and welcome was not in the equation. You had to ensure you had signed before you had ordered at the bar or in the restaurant. It was so evident it made you feel very uncomfortable! Obviously they get a lot of customers leave without paying???? As a business traveller and club member I will not be staying there again.

After the usual struggle with the M6 it was pleasing to actually arrive. The staff were the friendliest I have seen in a hotel for a long while, very chatty and pleasant. A good bar area, and a large room. Walking down the corridor you could sense the age and era the hotel was built... but it ticked the key boxes for me, quiet, clean, could relax and great staff.

Regret to report that Walsall Holiday Inn falls very short of standards experienced at other Holiday Inns.
We had to wait an hour to be served a Dinner that was only warm and almost inedible. We were offered a replacement meal but declined as we had waited an hour and were now too tired to wait any longer.
Whilst the waiting staff appeared concerned, they did not display any urgency in rectifying this failure and we considered their overall service to be poor. The sweet was served without the means to eat it, and when this was offered it was handled by staff member in offhand manner
The lights illuminating the bathroom mirrors in our bedroom did not function, the quilt was sub standard compared to others we have stayed in. As we use Holiday Inns on a regular basis - up to 2-3 times monthly for business meetings we feel able to say that Walsall is not the regular standard we have come to expect.

tv wasnt working, couldnt open safe, bed was full of broken lumps tried to get more duvets twice but to be told wait untill 11.30pm/ midnight, got some duvets but the next day the cleaner took them all away so have to ask again, run out of toilet rolls and staff told that one left awaiting for delivery, jacuzzi was broken.
complained but the company did not get back to us.
Worst ever hotel we ever stayed in. holiday for new year was ruined

Although I only stayed for one night recently the staff treated me like a regular. They were very helpful and friendly and based on this and the fact that the hotel is well located and reasonably priced, I would definitely recommend.

In general, a good hotel with lovely staff.
But, unfortunately, we have had a couple of bad experiences recently.
On both occasions, our poor daughter had to endure a night on the sofa bed which was so uncomfortable that she had back ache the next day. The mattress was so thin and bent that it dipped in the middle. The staff were very apologetic and offered her another quilt to use as a mattress, but this did not stop the bed dipping in the middle.
Also, a few other niggles in the the room.....no shower soap, tv not working, no 3rd mug, filthy brown drip mark on wall, and, most disgusting clumps of mould growing on the window handle. Obviously, housekeeping have not been paying much attention recently.
Other than that, generally this is a nice place, with lovely friendly staff. Will have to reconsider If I book there again or go across the motor way to the newer Holiday Inn Express.

Lovely spacious room, comfortable bed although could of done with a couple more pillows (think available from reception). Would definitely stay here again. The only negatives were when you check in the staff could give guests more information on where and how to use the leisure facilities and when you book a room for two adults I would expect a dressing gown and slippers for each adult not just 1 set and the complimentary chocolate was nice but again only one!! Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and will be back again.
