Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by When is a Holiday Inn not a Holiday Inn To me Holiday Inn signifies a level of comfort and luxury and having stayed in many IHG Hotels across the world I have come to expect the same in every hotel. Sadly this hotel falls well short of this. It looks like a leftover of the Motel boom of the 1960's and has steps making it a real pain to take your luggage up to the rooms. the hotel is close to a busy road road and has poor soundproofing- I would have expected triple glazing but it doesn't. Didn't need a wake-up call because the road noise did it for me. October 5, 2015

Staff levels are low with available staff (with one notable exception on reception) disorganized and lacking management direction. The hotel has a pleasant setting with a large free car park. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Bathroom was too small. Service in the restaurant was pathetic. We waited 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and it was not because of the coach party, as they did not come in until 7.30, and our table was booked for 7.0pm. We had to wait to check out, as the computer had run out of photocopying paper, and we waited about 10 minutes while they sent for some.. September 28, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Value for money This was my second choice hotel for business purposes and provided good VFM for it's location close to Chester-le-Street. However, it's proximity to the M1 does mean there is a constant hum in the background and you need to ensure you are allocated a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Dining is fairly restricted in the hotel, but pklenty of places nearby drive away. September 28, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel dissappointing service. Nice hotel, good location. Good amenities and comfortable. Speed of service in restaurant for Dinner was appalling - alledgedly attributable to staff shortages in kitchen. Apologies made by waitress, but no service recovery offered. Quality of food and variety fo menu was excellent. Undated Welcome Letter in room mentioned program of bathroom refurbishment underway, but no internal or external eveidence of work in progress. No sign of any contractors on site. September 27, 2015
