Upon arrival, the hotel staff was so helpful and friendly. They helped me out in many ways and were pleasant the entire stay. Great location, clean rooms and wonderful staff. Couldn't ask for a better place to work for three days!

Our family spent a week at this hotel in March 2013. We had a great experience. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the restaurant was good and a great value, and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly! Centrally located near great restaurants and close to the Metro, we would definitely stay here again!

Thank goodness we were only there for one night. Beds were the most uncomfortable that I have ever slept in in a hotel. Matresses were so old that you could only feel the lumps and springs of the mattress, Holiday Inn listen up you need to replace the matresses at this location! Requested a cot for the room, NEVER showed up. Had dinner in hotel restaurant, what a MISTAKE? Should have braved the cold and gone somewhere else. Minestrone soup (told it has homemade) tasted like Progresso soup out of a can. Salad was old and wilted. My husband and son had a rib combo, said it was like chewing leather. Dinner for 4 of us cost $125.00, I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but this was throwing my money away. Hotel staff were present, that is all I can say about them. They didn't do much else. I must say that we always stay at Holiday Inn's when we are travelling, but I will definitely look for another property in Washington D.C. because I will definitely not be returning to this one!

I stayed one month ago, and returned for a personal stay this time (brought my son). The lobby, bar and restaurant were all redone and improved. The staff immediately recognized my Platinum status & upgraded my room. It was clean and comfortable and roomy.
Breakfast was good in the hotel (not great, but perfectly fine). Still not extremely close to things, but a 10 minute walk to the White House or to Dupont Circle.
All in all, a good hotel for the $$$.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by PLW1969 Tired Hotel Needs an Update
This hotel is very "tired" and in desperate need of an update and cleaning. The hallway to my room smelled like a burned out vacuum cleaner motor--the stench gave me an instant headache. My room, which was "non-smoking" had obviously been a smoking room at one time because I could still smell cigarette smoke. I ended up opening the window for 1 1/2 hours to air it out, even though it was 20 degrees outside. My room service order was incorrect--not a huge deal but, when coupled with all of the other negatives, it was just one more thing to add to the list. The seats in the resturant were falling apart and the sconce lighting flickered for several seconds every 10 minutes or so. Again, instant headache. I had asked for a call from their accounting department prior to my stay, in order to switch the CC the room was billed to, but never received a call nor was the charge switched to the new card. Overall, this hotel is convenient to the association headquarters where I had meetings, but given the choice between paying more for a hotel or cost savings, I would opt for paying more. I will not stay at this property again.

Hotel is in a good spot, not too far a walk from the Metro station and a short walk to the local YMCA that I used for my workouts (their basic workout room didn't meet my requirements).
Only problem I had was with the internet connection. It was so slow as to be completely un-usable. I called to ask about it and the front desk person acknowledged the problem. She suggested I come down to the lobby for faster service or she could move me to a lower room. I appreciated her suggestion but think that since it is an ongoing issue then management/ownership should address it by adding more wireless service.

I had a problem with another Holiday Inn when I arrived in DC and called this Holiday Inn to see if I could go ahead and book a room with them for our 5 day stay. I was quoted one price and when I arrived I was charged a higher price. I stated to the girl who was helping us check in I was quoted a lower price and you are charging me a higher price. I explained that I had just lost my rewards night at the other hotel, which was fine, and I was just quoted a lower price. She stated I will give you a $100 dollar off for 2 nights which will come out to the price you were quoted. She was very professional and very accommodating to our situation. I really appreciated her for taking care of us. I would recommend this hotel to any person who is staying in DC.

On checkin I was not recognized as a priority club member.
Others in my party who are not priority club members received coupons on checkin, I did not.
The second day my key was deactivated with no explanation.
The room smelled stale.
Overall, poor foor the money.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by klen good business stay
I stayed January 17/18. Upon arrival the courteous staff immediately recognized my priority club status; I was put in a bigger room. It was clean and comfortable, as was the bed. It is not close to the metro (although not far), but I walk to/from the business location so all-in-all it was fine. The price for the room was great for the size of room and was cheaper than anywhere in the area.
Note: they were redoing the lobby and restaurant area when I was there. On previous stays, it was adequate, and they have free coffee/tea for guests. I will check out the lobby updates when I return this month.

We had the time of our lives... it was a dream. We loved the location, the hotel room was REALLY nice. Great view; big room, nice bathroom. We were able to go to museums, long walks, nice long breakfasts, we ate really well!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ZimZam poor management of construction process
I should have been informed when I made reservations that the property was scheduled for construction and painting during the time of my stay. When having breakfast it was hard to even talk over the noise of circular saws in the area right next to the where we were eating. This problem was NOT an intermittent condition, but rather constant during our whole stay.
This was an inconvenience that certainly was planned far in advance of my making a reservation and feel that the least you should have done was give me a "heads up".

I know that they are current redoing some of the facility, so maybe I hit a bad time. The restaurant was not very good. The decor was bad, since plastic hanging over one side and the sound of saws being heard during business hours. Workout room was really bad. Equipment was out of order or in disrepair. best to just shut it down. The room was decent though.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by StavroulaN Great Value
We chose this hotel for the great value and the proximity to the tourist attractions. The rooms were spotless, and I especially liked that the bathtub grout was sparkling white! Nothing like a grimy grout to ruin your vacation. I thought the carpets were dirty so I wore my shoes in the room (forgot to bring the flip flops). I did not like the fact that there was construction going on although it wasn't noisy, I would have liked to have known that in advance. We froze in the restaurant while we were eating because of the plastic sheets hanging around us while they were fixing things. But I will forgive that because there was no noise at all from the construction.

Nigel and Shannon took excellent care of us when we went down to complain about the door to the bathroom. They moved us to another room the same day and answered our questions and made recommendations. They were in the middle of remodeling the bar so the food was OK but I'm sure once the renovations are done the food quality will improve. Central to a lot of DC locates, near the restaurants on P street and not too far from the Metro.
Laundry closet needs more space so you can get in it easier.

Had to stay in DC for three days for business reasons. Relative to other hotels in the area, I think this might be the best value I've had anywhere inside the district. Staff was very knowledgeable about the area, restaurant is good with lots of variety. Highly recommend this place and I'll certainly be back next time I'm in DC.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by cbk63 really liked it except for wet carpet by sink :(
I would have no complaints about this Holiday Inn...people couldn't have been nicer, food good, everyone helpful but two days we were gone all day and when we would come back the carpet in front of the sink (outside the bathroom) was always soaked! We'd throw a towel on it and keep going...didn't complain about it 'cause otherwise room was fine and really, at the end of the day, didn't have the energy. Would like to know why it happened tho'?

I only had a few hours to spend at hotel but it was quite reasonable. It was walking distance from World Bank, UNEP, NRDC, GEF, and very close to the Metro. So I could get from Dulles to my hotel by shuttle and metro, even with suitcases, for under $15. Very convenient.

I think my title says it all, but there was nothing to complain about in our 2-night stay. A good location and not difficult to find - about 10 min walk to metro and 2 stops to the National Museum of Natural History. Lots of good eats and convenient shops in the immediate area. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic breakfast buffet, but always clean and good quality.

We think the staff was the best we have had at a hotel, the front desk was just great.
we were in town for a baby shower and everybody helped to get the gifts from the truck to lobby, and helped load them. staff always asked if we needed anything.
when we were ready to check out had great help with luggage and getting truck out of lot and loading it.
food and service when we went to eat was just great

I checked in early on Nov. 30 with Nigel's help. I was able to drop off my bags to my room at 10:30am, that was a huge help and Nigel was wonderful to speak with. He also helped me with a map to get to my first destination. Everyone working at the front desk and doorman were extremely helpful and kind.
The room was great until I was ready to settle down for the evening. The alarm clock/radio was creating an annoying low tone sound. I tried to turn it off and reset it but it still continued. I called maintenance, they came up and he didn't really have any idea. You cannot unplug it because it is not plugged in, it is behind the outlet. I wrapped up the alarm clock in a blanket and pillows and I could still hear it, so I kept the fan on in the room to drown it out.
The square pillows are not that comfortable. The longer pillows in the room are more comfortable but hard to get. I requested the longer pillows, a nice woman brought one to my room. The next day the longer pillows were removed after housecleaning. I requested them again but the pillows brought up on Sat night were the square pillows. I felt badly asking again so i just gave up.
Nigel was the nicest person a customer could meet after a long trip to the hotel. I must commend him. He helped with kindness and joked around with me and my sister.

I stayed on the 9th floor during my visit. Both nights of the visit, a customer in a nearby room was smoking, creating an unpleasant experience on what I expected to be a non-smoking floor. I did report the smoking to the front desk after the first night of my stay, but it did continue on for the next night as well

There were 2 mornings when there was no hot water for over an hour. This was an aberration as I never experienced this kind of problem with multiple stays here.
I used to get free breakfast with a platinum priority membership but did not on this stay. That was a very good value. Breakfast is great.
Prices can become quite high when Congress is in session

We come to Washington DC every year to take in a Redskins game. Until this trip, we've always stayed at different hotels through the years. This Holiday Inn is very comfortable. Great staff. Did not miss a beat. Clean. That staff runs the place like they own the place! Our experience was wonderful to say the least. And....the skins got a W!!! See you next year Holiday Inn!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PTiops64 The most friendly people I have met on my first visit to DC
As priority club member I usually stay at Holiday inn if they are available in the cities that I'm visiting. I chose this hotel because of its location to the city center. Though you pay a bit premium but what you get is the accessibility and convenience when you're around the famous landmarks and monuments of the national capital of USA. The only drawback is you have to walk many blocks down the road to get to the nearest Metro (subway) station. Also the neighborhood is not in the busy business area - such as you have to walk few blocks to see a McDonalds, convenience store or restaurant. But of you want to secluded quiet accommodation away from the busyness of the city, then this is YOUR HOTEL. I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting to see a newer facilities inside the hotel. But it was offset by the warmth and friendliness of the staff at the counter. No offense to New Yorkers staff of HI but I find Washingtonians staff of HI very friendly, accommodating and not rude. The gift shop inside the hotel needs some improvement. Restaurant serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is OK. I suggest selection of food on breakfast buffet needs to change once in a while. I have been eating the same breakfast for the past 3 days. Pleased to know that hotel has a bar, as well as free flowing of coffee and tea in the lobby. Generally speaking I'm happy to stay at this hotel.
