This is a great hotel in an excellent location, the staff and very helpful and the breakfast as well cooked and had a great deal of choice.
I have 2 down points, the first is, we visited during December and on both nights we decided to go out for our evening meal because there was a function on in the restaurant and the only options were to eat in the bar or pay extra for room service, that’s a shame because, if the breakfast was anything to go by, the evening meals would have been excellent.
The second down point was about the internet connection, as a Priority Club member you receive free internet connection, the problem was that in the room it’s via an Ethernet cable and not wi-fi, not a lot of good if you are using an I-pad or tablet or one of the handheld devices that only connect via wi-fi.
Having said that it’s a great hotel, well kept and well appointed rooms (although the heating system is a bit strange). There is plenty of parking and the access to and from the A303 is easy.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn was hampered by a bed that was uncomfortable, a shower that barely worked and hot drink facilities that were not working.
Sleep is unique to everyone, so it could be that others have slept brilliantly. Not us. The bed was too soft and offered very little support.
The shower was just a trickle, allowing you to get wet, but little good for anything else. The pressure was so low that it could be used to water the most delicate of plants. The plus side is that the temperature gauge worked well.
As an avid tea drinker, finding the kettle broke, as you had to keep your finger on the switch to allow it to boil, took the biscuit.
The only positive is the initial price, but I would have happily paid more if the bed was more comfortable, the shower worked better and the kettle could be left to boil on its own.
These issues were raised with the staff, who didn't do a thing to help.
