a regular stopover for us , and still an ideal location , good sized rooms , excellent gym if you have time, and a good bar and restaurant , all you need when traveling.

We were allocated room 107. Outside the room was the bar patio where the smokers gather. The double glazing is not good enough to drown out the noise. The hotel were asked to deal with the problem at 2300 and nothing happened and then past midnight when the smokers were apparently asked to go inside.
The restaurant and bar area lack natural light making it not a particularly pleasant place to eat.
We offered a 15% refund on the bar meals and drinks, not over generous but made acceptable by the pleasant way it was dealt with the following morning.
The hotel is functional and quite a way from Winchester.

Of all the hotels I have stayed in Winchester is the top of my list, I think mainly due to the staff who are amazing.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BBA71 Comfortable hotel, but not great service this time
I have stayed at this hotel many times, as I come to the area for work. Occasionally I bring my bicycle and commute to and from the office/hotel on my bike just for a bit of exercise. Previously, I've been allowed to leave my bike in their store room as there is no other "covered and secure" bike storage. On this occasion I was told I couldn't because they are expecting another party of 10 cyclists.... The store room is quite big they couldn't explain why 1 more bike was going to be a problem for them.
Later on the same stay, I needed cash for a taxi. Its a service many hotels have offered - to allow me to get cash with a debit card. I'm very surprised this isn't available at a holiday inn....

We were 4 adults travelling from Yorkshire to Southampton to pick up a cruise ship. In order to have a more relaxing start to the holiday we chose to travel the day before, booking and paying for an overnight stay enroute some months beforehand.
My mistake, anyone considering the same should research a bit more than I did as you can obtain an equally as good accommodation in the same area at a third cheaper than I paid, any cancellation even within 24hrs of the initial booking leads to the loss of the payment made..
Having said that the Hotel was spacious and comfortable, only problem I found was the novelty of the washbasin in the rooms we were allocated. They were more or less at chest height and I stand at 5.10ft, !!!! whats going on there. I initially thought it was a gimmick and found myself checking to see if the sink lowered. .

I recently had my first stay at the Holiday Inn Winchester and can happily say that I would bok again should I need a room in the area.
The hotel appears to be relatively new and as such it is bright, light and airy. Everything appeared to be clean and in good condition as you'd expect with a new facility. The room was of a good size and was suitably appointed. I also had dinner in the bar and the food was fine, nothing to write home about but certainly no complaints either (I don't expect superb cuisine in Holiday Inns!).
It was only a brief stay so I didn't get a chance to make use of the other facilities. I would however, happily recommend it to those looking for fresh and clean nights stay.
