Hotel situated about 30 mins walk from York city centre, good bus service into York, less than £8 in a taxi.
Hotel a bit dated outside, but nice enough inside.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Buffet breakfast very poor - save your money and eat in York or even Tescos which is less than a mile away.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Always pleasant stay
We like staying at the York Holiday Inn. It is well placed on a main road into York. Car parking very good and free. We use the local bus into town as York inner city parking is very expensive.
Staff always friendly.

Stayed here twice now, usual Holiday Inn standards, not quite 4 star but for the price we have paid each stay you would be pushed to find better. Breakfast and Dinner cuisine is of a good standard and all the staff we encountered were pleasant and courteous. Room remade each day with fresh towels. Downsides - the hotel is a few miles from York centre so you need to drive / bus / walk to get there (unless you are a horse race fan, in which case you are right on top of York race course). If it were nearer York centre this hotel would be extremely hard to beat.
