Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My Great Visit to Washington From the day we arrived the girl at the front desk was go great to us. She told us how to get to everything as we had never been there. She told us about riding the sources in town and the best way to get to where we wanted to go. The beds were very comfortable an I they helped my back. All in all the stay there was fabulous. I would tell everybody how helpful your staff were to my daughter and I the whole week. October 26, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Very Enjoyable Stay Being a platinum member wherever I travel I always prefer to use a IHG brand hotel/ My second visit to USA, my partners first. On our arrival from UK (after a delayed connecting flight) we appreciated our warm welcome and upgrade to a suite for our 4-day stay. Our suite was clean and extremely comfortable, the fridge and microwave being welcome bonus UK IHG hotels should consider. The breakfast buffet was delicious with so many choices and set us up for our days exploring the lovely Alexandria and our trip to Washington, the girls on restaurant duty were always courteous and friendly. The shuttle bus to the metro was excellent and made the need for car hire unnecessary. We would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting to visit the fantastic Washington sites and museums. Alexandria is a lovely place and well worth a look, we especially loved the Torpedo museum. October 24, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overpriced The room was decently cleaned. The bathroom wasn't very clean. The shower didn't work properly. The tub didn't work for my daughter to take a bath. The shower head continuously sprayed water even when the water was only supposed to come out of the tub. The button to turn the shower to bath was broken and sprayed water out of the button. I called down to the service desk and told them but no one came and fixed it and it wasn't fixed while we were out on any day we were there. The breakfast was horrible and way overpriced. There wasn't anyone to greet us when we seated ourselves for breakfast to explain how it worked. We got the buffet and realized the it was $20 per person and the food was horrible and cold. The pool was very nice. It was kind of small, but my daughter and husband enjoyed our time in it and the lifequard was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very nice inside but the price of the room and the price of overnight parking was completely too expensive. October 23, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bed was good, service was terrible Positives: Bed was comfortable, the cooling system worked, and they gave us free toothpaste Negatives: We had numerous problems, which the staff didn't seem to really want to help us with: we were given the wrong rate, the wrong type of room (which smelled like a wet dog), and the billing was wrong. All these eventually got resolved, but it was not an easy process. The parking structure was fairly ridiculous. Every time we wanted to get in, the card didn't work. Most of the time, the button to call for help didn't work either. So, we had to go back around to the front of the hotel and either get a new card, or have a hotel employee come to the parking structure with us to let us in. Overall, I would not stay again. I've never been to Alexandria/DC before, but I have to believe there are better hotels out there. October 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Should have been better Having stayed at this location numerous times, this time having started on the wrong foot, I was disappointed in some of the services and staff. Added to this, it probably was based around the room provided - on the ground floor, it was not a pleasant stay. Hopefully things get better. October 22, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable accomodations , but poor customer service While the accommodations were clean and comfortable, there were several issues that made our stay less enjoyable than it should have been. We reserved a three night stay to attend an out of town wedding. At the time of reservation, we were not given the block rate, having been told that the room block was full, when it was not. Two phone calls later, that issue was resolved for me, and the block rate was charged as it should have been. The parking garage was an issue every day of our stay. The parking card did not work at least 80% of the time we attempted to enter or leave the garage. We were told on check in that , in the event we had trouble , to press the "assistance" button and the staff would raise the arm from the front desk. We were given a total of three different parking cards during our stay, due to card failure. During the last two days of our stay, neither the parking cards nor the "assistance" button worked at all, and twice required that we drive to the hotel entrance to inform the front desk staff to open the gate so we could park. Finally, at check out, our parking was incorrectly charged. We were told by the desk staff that she could remove the charge from the statement , but that she could not remove charges, which would need to be done by the operations manager. The desk staff was always polite and attentive, but no one seemed to know how to explain the confusion about the room block and room rate , parking problem, or incorrect charges. The room was clean and comfortable and the building is maintained and attractive. Unfortunately, the other issues we encountered were irksome and interfered with the ability to fully enjoy the stay as much as we could have. Its really too bad, because while I expect to visit Alexandria in the future, I won't choose this hotel. October 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by We Love Holiday Inn's Overall our room was very spacious and clean. We were on the 1'st floor due to having our family dog with us. We were very impressed with the room however it smelled very badly of a mildew type smell. We wondered if possibly the room had been flooded at one time or if there was potentially a water leak some where within the walls or under the flooring. We were in Room 105. When we checked in we were not told about how to utilize the parking ticket to gain entry in and out of the parking garage. No directions were offered to our room etc. The front desk basically did what they had to do. Not a very friendly welcome. We were really impressed however with a lady that was just getting off of work when we arrived. It was late evening and she was walking through the lobby and offered to show us the location of our room. She was overly friendly and kind. She was awesome but we did not see this type of treatment from anyone else during our stay. We love Holiday Inn's and would still recommend this hotel. We do feel this room needs to be checked for a water problem and perhaps the front desk needs to be a little more accommodating. Kudo's to the housekeeper (?) that made us feel welcome.
