Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable hotel and close to public transport We spent three nights at the hotel as part of a coach holiday package and were very pleasantly surprised with the level of comfort of the hotel rooms. The rooms were of a good size and had two large beds, with comfortable mattresses but the pillows were rather small and hard. The bathroom was fresh and clean. Breakfast was tasty with lots of choice but the restaurant was exceptionally busy. Dinner, however, was a much more pleasant experience as we had been allocated an early dining time. Wifi was €22 for 24 hours, which I thought was very expensive. However, on day three I was told by a fellow traveller that it was free for IHG members. It would have been much more helpful had I been invited to join when we checked in, especially as I enquired if free wifi was available. As we were part of a group of 30 our driver phoned ahead to inform reception of the time of our arrival, 22.00. We expected that reception would have been prepared for our arrival but were very disappointed to be told to wait in the lobby until our driver had off loaded all of the luggage from the coach and that he would then allocate the room keys. This was definitely not the level of service expected. The receptionist was most dismissive and, indeed, quite unfriendly. We found this particular receptionist was also particularly unhelpful on the second evening. This, however, was not indicative of the level of service experienced from other staff, who were both friendly and welcoming. The tram station is close to the hotel enabling easy access to the centre of Amsterdam. In summary, I enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending the Holiday Inn, Amsterdam. It was extremely comfortable and was in an excellent position for ease of travel to the city. The train to the airport is a short walk away and the tram to the city is even closer. The breakfast service and the variety of food was excellent. I have to give credit where credit is due and this is the time. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay in Amsterdam ! April 22, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RAI Hotel Needed to attend a convention at the RAI Convention Center and this is one of the closest hotels. The fastest and least expensive way (2.70 euro) to get there from Shiphol is by train, very easy and only a few hundred meters to the hotel. It is only a 10 minute walk to the RAI. There is a tram about 100 m from the front door to downtown Amsterdam, which is good because there is nothing near the hotel to speak of in the way of dining or sightseeing. The Vermont restaurant is OK, about what you would expect from a Holiday Inn. Certainly a good business hotel. March 27, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful friendly staff but old overvalued hotel I stayed at the hotel one night, but it was enough for me to realize it is wasn't much value for the money. I didn't get an upgrade as a RA member. The furniture was old. Parking was 25 euros per day (without other options for parking). Other than the very bad and unrealizable wireless internet, I can't say I had any real issues. The breakfast was ok with a good variety. February 22, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Business Hotel with friendly staff Stayed in the top floor in the Executive Room. Room was nice, there was an iron, mini bar, TV and a nice bathroom. Nevertheless I was surprised that there was no hair conditioner and that the wireless internet connection cost 20 Euro. That's a way too expensive. Breakfast was nothing special, pretty disappointing to be honest for the asked price. The best thing is location if you need to be close to the Convention Centre in Bijmer Arena. January 26, 2014

Both the metro and tram are near from the hotel. We were lucky to chosse it. Modern hotel and very quiet. The service and outstanding care. I was very pleasantly surprised by this little place before I first set eyes on it - as the reservations staff seamlessly accommodated a number of last-minute changes that befell our travel arrangements. The place itself is pleasant and cosy, much more 'hotel-like' than we'd expected for a Holiday Inn, with a nice little bistro and a rather good location - a little out of the way, but maybe that's a good thing to beat the crowds - a stone's throw from Amsterdam RAI station and at the end of the no4 tram loop from the city centre. It's in what looks to us English like a business park near the convention centre - but again don't let that mislead you. The two things that really shone for my family were the cleanliness throughout and for the outstandingly cheerful and professional staff. The place was gleaming from top to bottom, from young staff at breakfast to seasoned old hands at the bar they could not have been more courteous. Certain high-end hotels can learn how to serve food and drink from them! I was slightly sceptical in the beginning as Holiday Inn has its place in the market - I never thought of it as a 'warm and welcoming family hotel with the personal touch'- but that's exactly what it was. As a result I recommend it here and will return.. January 2, 2014

Our family enjoyed the location with easy access to public transportation. The breakfast was good, with a few caveats. The hotel was overcrowded for the holiday weekend and had a hard time keeping up with the demands of the sizable crowd for the included breakfast buffet. I think they tried their best, but it could have been improved with a little more preparation. January 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ok, nothing else The hotel is adequately situated - 5 minute walk to the train station to get to the center. Room was nothing special, and doesn't compare with other IHG hotels I've stayed at (around 60 stays during 2013). Smallest tv-screen I've seen in a long time in a hotel room, and you could hear some noise from the corridor. Angry birds game in the elevator was a nice touch but is not enough to warrant me staying here again. January 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice stay , very helpful staff Enjoyed a weekend at this hotel. Arrived very early on Saturday and the receptionist very kindly let us check in as the room was available. Nice room on priority floor, large clean bathroom. Extensive and very fresh breakfast on the Sunday morning available until a very pleasant 11.30. Pleasant breakfast room. No noise at all, very large comfy bed. A bit of a way from centre of town, but the tram stop is right by the hotel ,also train to airport. It's the end of the line for tram 4 so never a problem getting in and out of town if you buy day or two day ticket it is much easier than taxis. Quite fun. Only negatives - thought the reception alittle dated and there is a large pool at front of hotel which had a lot of rubbish in and really should be cleaned it doesn't give a very positive first impression and wouldn't take a lot of doing. Also the cigarette ends outside. Had a good time . Thanks December 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very disappointed in room NO toiletries in bathroom. Had to phone Reception at 06:00 to ask for basic supply of soap, shampoo, tissues. Bath tub would not empty of water, drainage problem. Second and third days of stay again no supplies in bathroom: empty soap and shampoo containers, tissue box left completely empty. Surely these are 'basic' hotel supplies to guests? Central heating did not work so room cold. Flickering bulb in small table lamp and standard lamp bulb not working. Room not very clean. Could hear lift doors opening as room opposite lifts. However, reception and dining room staff helpful and friendly. November 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saturday Night in Amsterdam The room was fine, however, some smell in the bathroom comming from one of the drains. It dissapeared when after I used the shower. The staff were nice and friendly, however, I got the feeling that whatever I did it would cost extra money abd the bill showed me they have really good control of all the consumption. Hotel is OK for business, but I will not go ther for relax again, because of the experience with extra costs, which is common for all Holiday Inn hotels. November 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Room Room 310, Room size and comfort is good and well. The television is quit old and it not easy to read the informations on the screen. For shower the max. water was not enough, a little bit more water would be nice. The heating system was not working well, the room was a little bit to cold but I could not find a controller to change the temperature in this room. A second blanked would be nice. But overall it was nice to stay in your hotel. There are only very small points to make a stay more comfertable. November 19, 2013

Room seemed to be a little cold at times and we couldn't adjust the settings but it wasn't enough to complain about. Unfortunately we didnt try the food in the evening because we had eaten out during the day. Wish we had known where the small shopping mall was. Hotel is a bit far out but it was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle with easy access via the trams which were close by. November 17, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy and with very poor price-value ratio To be honest at first I was looking forward to a very comfortable stay in Holiday Inn. The price per night was an indication for a very comfortable and even luxurious stay. But what happened in fact was that there was no free wifi/internet in the rooms. Also the air conditioning was very noisy and I had to turn it off if I wanted to sleep. This of course resulted in a cold room and uncomfortable sleep. Also the fan in the bathroom was constantly on producing noise as well. Overall I want stay in Holiday Inn next time. November 13, 2013

Lots of steps just to watch something. 2) Overcharged: while trying to navigate the TV menus to select channels by language, I somehow hit the internet function. I didn't even realize it until checkout. Cost me 5 euros and they would not even discuss removing that charge. October 14, 2013

Aside from that convenience, restaurants and other businesses are not really close by, making a tram or cab ride a necessity. Wifi and hard wired internet would drop periodically. Facilities are just fine, staff is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for those of you needing to be south of the canals... October 13, 2013

Upgrade to executive room is very welcome. As is the quality of the extra wine we receive! Staff very friendly. Professionals! But please change the quality of the televisions. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Americans in Amsterdam This hotel lived up to our expectations of Holiday Inn. The room was well appointed and comfortable and the staff was quite pleasant and helpful. The breakfast bar was excellent and started each of our 2 days in Amsterdam well. Public transportation is very near the hotel (about 3 minute walk to nearest tram station and 5 minutes to the train). It is also located near the highway for easy access. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff very friendly and helpful The Holiday Inn Amsterdam is a modern hotel with all the normal facilities. I particularly liked the bar which had a friendly and relaxing air about it. The reception staff were very helpful and most friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable. I did not appreciate having to pay Euro 29 just to watch normal TV and chose not to. The bed was enormous but I didn't like the four small pillows as my head get falling off of them. I would have preferred normal size pillows. The extractor fan in the bathroom remained on all night which I found irritating especially as I suffer with Tinnitus and any constant noise is very disturbing. I realised that to stop everything from working I should have removed the key card from the mains slot. Fortunately with the bathroom door shut the extractor fan noise was minimal. I cannot comment on the restaurant as it was fully booked. All in all I liked the Holiday Inn and would stay again on my next visit to Amsterdam. September 27, 2013
