Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not really downtown as name suggest Hotel is not really downtown Asheville as name suggests, about a mile and a half from real downtown area and not really a walkable mile due to the tunnel between hotel and downtown. Great facility with plenty of dining options nearby for the chain type places. Roadway leading to the hotel could use some street lighting as we arrived on a dark rainy night and not much signage or lighting leading to the hotel that led us to not knowing if we were on the right path or not but once there a great experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Bed Our stay was short but great. Location was close to downtown, but not walking distance. The room was attractive and well appointed, the bed was comfy and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely stay here again! January 14, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by You can find a better place than this. . . 1.As noted by other posters the signage to locate the hotel is poor and the hotel's entrance is hard to find. The professional photographs are deceptive in that the hotel's entrance is hidden behind multiple other buildings(hotels, dry cleaners, bars etc) Don't try and find this placed in the dark if you don't know the area. 2. Parking is terrible, poorly lit and if you end up in the basement parking you will need a room key to get into the elevator. I don't know how you are able to do that without checking in first, but the entrance parking is inconvenient and obscure and has way too few parking spots. 3.Overheard from patron to night desk clerk, " I have a plunger than you can come get. I'm tied up at the front desk right now." In all fairness to the desk clerk she was very busy. But don't they have anyone else on duty at 9 o'clock on a Friday night who could have helped out? Is plunging my own toilet part of the usual service? 4.Don't ever make reservations on your IHG account at this hotel unless you are the one doing the checking in. I had to come out of the basement parking garage so my wife could check in. Crazy, never seen this before in 40 years of staying in hotels. 5. The bed was very hard if you like that. The room and bathroom were clean. The carpet was stained. 6. Breakfast was lovely, well thought out, cooked perfectly and staff (Especially Audrey) was wonderful. I loved my breakfast skillet, nice and hot, the eggs cooked perfectly. My wife thought the selection was a bit slim. No buffet. 7.This is not a real great area of town. Exterior parking needs more lighting. Room Tip: 6th floor rooms seemed very quiet. -This is not a real great area of town. January 5, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Traveler's delight The customer service of the staff was outstanding. Their shuttle service conveniently picked me up and dropped me off when needed. The driver, I think his name was John, kindly drove me to the Grove Park Inn so I could view the seasonal exhibits there. He also told me about additional tourist options. Since many customers prefer to travel with home-baked from scratch, healthy snacks and select cosmetics/medications, a refrigerator is as essential as furniture in the room. A clean, working microwave just adds more value to Holiday Inn's package. This appealing, conveniently located hotel is highly recommended for additional business travelers or those traveling for leisure. January 2, 2015
