Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great overnight stop I travel a lot and stay in many different hotels, including Holiday Inns. This was my first stay at this hotel, and I will certainly return. The room was excellent, quiet and comfortable. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was well above expectations. I find that the staff at hotels can make the difference to the stay. All the staff I had dealings with here were very friendly, courteous and professional. May 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointed The AC in my room did not work; front desk staff said nobody could service it until Monday (in 2 days). I had reserved a room with AC because I suffer from seasonal allergies. With the windows closed the room was very hot. With the windows open I had to deal with road noise and allergies. I had a terrible night. The Internet was so slow during the evening that I could not even send an e-mail. When I asked the front desk about this they said it was because the hotel was full. This is like saying, `We don`t have enough hot water because the hotel is full.`` When at checkout I told them I had not enjoyed my stay and why, the lady simply said, `Sorry about that.`` I have stayed in many Holiday Inns and am usually completely satisfied. Not this time. If you are in the Ashford area, stay at some other hotel. May 23, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bargain stay bed/breakfast/evening meal For the price it was acceptable, but I don't think we would want to stay there again. It was a brief stop over before travel on the Eurostar. Very large quiet room, but it was very dark and the mattress was very uncomfortable, no extra pillows available in the room, but the air conditioning was working at least. The room was rather grubby but the sheets were clean. Evening meal was over cooked and mostly inedible and from start to finish took over 95 mins, with a 4 year old this was not acceptable (we were not the only guests to complain). Breakfast was okay, a decent choice of hot and cold foods but not up to the standard that we have experienced at other Holiday Inns. Not child friendly, no colouring/pens/paper available etc either. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great comfortable and modern hotel with terific staff The Ashford Holiday Inn was very comfortable, extremely clean, and the in house bar/meals were great. But the underlining reason for recommending this hotel is the staff. At all times they were friendly, helpful, courteous and nothing was too much for them. In particular the two fellows who worked the reception/bookings desk while I was there, George and ?(I can't remember his name). These two guys were so very helpful, and really nice people. We have stayed here before and would do so again so it has not put us off. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff are so polite and helpful. We took advantage of the bed breakfast and evening meal package which was great value for money. April 20, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall pleasant stay Overall we enjoyed our stay, upon booking we opted for the dinner, bed and breakfast option. The room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed other than a hotel information folder which would normally be found as this contains information on what the hotel has to offer, meal times etc. We took dinner in the restaurant, here is where things went down slightly, I have to say the service and the way we were greeted was possibly the most cold and unfriendly I have ever come across in any restaurant for a number of years, my starter was vegetable soup, just exactly what vegetable(s) I have no idea, it was tasteless and green, suggesting, peas, beans, broccoli, asparagus, even sprouts but no, at best the taste resembled parsley. My wife had melon, cut so thin you could see the plate through it. Our mains were fine; desserts were chocolate fudge cake, dusted with chocolate powder no cream or ice cream making it very dry, my wife ordered the Eton mess, yes as the title suggests mess but there had been no attempt to garnish it, it was simply ladled into a glass dish. When our desserts were cleared an apology was offered for our wait, what wait we had not mentioned this or were we aware we had waited a long time. Our experience at breakfast was the complete opposite, friendly service with a smile. Our experience at dinner would not deter us from stopping here again however we would think twice about taking dinner in the restaurant. March 31, 2014

On check in - receptionist was hiding in the side office and didn't want to come out, no doubt scared I'd ask why the reception floor was covered in muddy footprints and rubbish. Meal in plastic pub - food OK, no ale on offer. Receipt machine had a year date of 2000, I wouldn't be able to submit that on expenses, my auditors would crucify me! Fortunately able to put on room. Room - bed sheets were too short, they stopped 6 inches short of the bed head, so if/when my head rolled off the pillow it'd be resting on the mattress, yuk! Wifi - would connect then drop out, so I couldn't do any work at all. Breakfast - entered via a still dirty lobby, most dishes were almost empty and not enough serving spoons for each dish. No glasses for fruit juice either (though these were supplied on request). Only good feature was crispy hash browns, something Premier Inn can't seem to do! March 31, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good overnight stay Very pleased with our overnight stay for onward car journey to Dover which took about 20 minutes at 7.30am on a Monday morning. Our room was front facing and traffic was a little noisy but did not affect a good nights sleep. My only complaint (if at all) was that the bar lacked a choice of real ales, either tap or bottled.
