Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 3 rooms in 3 nights Probably the worst experience at a Holiday Inn. First night someone had taken a nap in the bed and didn't re-make the bed. So off to room two - 3 hangers and no TV off to room 3. So far so good except when I tried to turn on lights didn't work. Plug in out of wall had to move bed to fix. Tried to call down for room service. Telephone didn't work. Decided to stay there that night. Next night the phone wasn't fixed so off to room 4 - TV didn't work but got fixed. They put me in an accessibility room which I hate since the shower head never aims correctly. Staff was friendly and apologetic by housekeeping team and maintenance team are making their life more difficult for them and chasing away travelling consultants like myself. December 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great downtown ATL location with prompt, friendly staff This was my first stay at this hotel. I was there during the week of was certainly less crowded than staying with a houseful of my relatives! And having a TV and bathroom to myself? Priceless! Anyway... The staff & hotel were great! This was a GREAT value, and I will seek to stay here again, in the future. I was greeted warmly by TRACEY (daytime mgr?), GIGI (evening mgr), and ZANE each day. **TRACEY** was especially proactive and helpful in answering questions about the area. The room and bathroom were clean. The room had a very large flat screen TV. Even though it was Thanksgiving week, the hotel itself "busy" but not "noisy" or loud. The surrounding area was well-traveled, well-lit, and very safe. Matter of fact, I think the Atlanta Police Dept's downtown hq is just a block East from the hotel! I felt completely safe. A big plus was that the room had a fridge and microwave! That is becoming rare in hotels these days. A couple of times, I'd walk a couple blocks (East, I guess) to the CVS off of Peachtree Street, just to get snacks and bottled water...I liked that I could keep stuff cold in the fridge. The valets were very professional, polite, and friendly. It was valet-only parking, but the lot / garage wasn't busy so I was able to retrieve my car easily. I think the parking cost was about $20/night. Given the location (smack dab in the middle of downtown, right next to Centennial Olympic Park), it was well worth that cost just for the in / out privileges. Even at garages or surface lots in that area, you'd pay at least $10 or more, with no in / out privs. I tipped the valets a couple bucks each time I picked up & dropped off the maybe amounted to an extra $4-$8 dollars per day... their being nice and courteous made the hotel experience feel a little more "special." One more thing: there's an on-site restaurant that offers room service. I didn't eat there (actually didn't spend too much time "in" the room, except for evenings / sleeping). There are also several different restaurants (different cuisine) nearby. The big surprise for me was the fairly new Waffle House right next door...a 2 minute walk from the hotel's front door, and right across the street from Centennial Olympic Park. That's my review. I'll stay here again, whenever possible. And thank you, "Tracey," at the front desk for the tips about the area. December 6, 2014
