Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice HOtel Not in the greatest part of Austin due to the mall being pretty much closed down. But in all hotel was VERY NICE, would stay their again! Very clean, very updated! Had a nice bar and restaurant all right there, so you didn't have to leave for anything! I was a little disappointed it didn't have a complimentary breakfast included, but restaurant was available for breakfast. July 23, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Never again! I had the unfortunate experience of checking in during an Anime convention. The entire hotel, including each floor elevator lobbies and hallways were taken over by youth in freaky costumes. As a business traveler I should have been told and given the option of staying elsewhere. The staff's only response was that it would be over in two days. Shame on you Holiday Inn. I am rethinking the priority of my hotel loyalty programs. There was also no welcome or recognition of my gold status. July 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great staff Front desk staff were always quick, friendly and helpful. Need a few copies of some paperwork; no problem. Reservation change was easy and efficient. Breakfast servers were incredible. I stay there for a week at a time about 4 times a year. One young lady remembers that I like a juice combination of orange juice and cranberry juice in the same glass despite the time between stays. Superior service. July 5, 2013

I have two problems with my stay (1) it was hot in the hallways while waiting foe the elevators, and the elevators were not working properly. I have stay at this hotel for the last 4 year and the company should just spend the money to replace the elevators June 28, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stange location This hotel is located right next to a defunct mall and across the street from some shady looking apartments. From my patio I could see cars parking next to each other and then leaving quickly so not sure what was going on there. I came for a conference that was in the same hotel so I never had to leave the hotel, which was a bonus. I was concerned because I had to park at the back of the hotel but there were a lot of DPS troopers there (the DPS training site is nearby) so I felt a little better. I would not recommend this hotel to a woman traveling alone if you were going to be coming and going a lot - especially at night. June 25, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good location, dark rooms, unreliable housekeeping personnel In all, not a very nice experience. The location is not nice if you do not rent a car. The mall right across the hotel is closing, and there is nothing to do nearby, unless you want to take the Greyhound bus which is right in front of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is alright, but the evening service is dreadful. If you do not like the buffet you can just leave because there is not even the possibility of asking for a sandwich. The rooms are quite dark and not really inviting. The cleaning staff is not nice. I had a bad experience with housekeeping the day of my departure, and worst of all the day following my departure. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by hard to find This hotel is located in a really weird place. You can see it from the road but it's VERY hard to actually get to. The directions on the website are wrong/misleading/incomplete/vague. Call the hotel for more accurate help. Also, the big mall next to the hotel (also mentioned on the website) is now closed and empty. Nothing within walking distance to eat or do. Ghost town area. We asked for a rollaway bed for our room. We were told "yes" on the phone. But the front desk told us we couldn't have one. My kids took turns sleeping on the VERY uncomfortable sectional chair. And, there were no extra blankets in the closet. Bring your own tea bags. At least the hotel gym had free weights and enough space to use them. No weight bench though. We were at the hotel for an event. I hope we don't have to go back next year. I would NOT recommend this hotel! June 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overall fair stay but few issues The location of this property is good based on convenience to Austin, but difficult to navigate. We seemed to only be able to access it from behind, through the adjacent mall's parking lot. It was not a great area of town, experienced by finding a homeless man sleeping on bench in front of hotel. Property is undergoing a remodeling effort, with sections of the downstairs closed due to construction. Final result will be lovely, it appears, although the cost of an overnight stay or dining may increase, lessening the value of a night's stay. The room was comfortable, although the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned (dust in tub, etc.). I recommend this hotel for its current value and general cleanliness. June 14, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing evening poolside My husband and I were looking forward to an nice evening away from the house (we live in Austin) just to spend some uninterrupted time together. We checked in, hung out by the pool which was the perfect temperature, not crowded at all and very relaxing. Then we went and had a nice dinner in the room and watched the basketball playoffs on TNT in the room and just enjoyed our time together. The restaurant was being remodeled but they still offered room service and the next morning the staff invited us to a free buffet breakfast with breakfast tacos, sausage muffins, pastries and more just due to the inconvenience of the restaurant not being open. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location I stayed here recently for the Paul Mccartney concert. I really enjoy staying at Holiday Inns and Express'. This one was no different. The staff was very nice, I did not utilze the bar, or any other facility in the hotel. I just used the room. I had only only issue and it was a major one. The pillows are way too small. Postage stamps are bigger than these pillows. It affected our sleep. We could not get comfortable and had a very poor night sleeping because of that. May 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Weekend My husband and I had a great (business) weekend at Holiday Inn Midtown. Rooms were great, the bed was very comfortable, and it's so nice to have 4 HBO channels to choose from. We were able to have buffet breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and a BBQ supper on Saturday evening, and it was really good. Service was excellent throughout the entire weekend. We have stayed here before and I'm sure we'll stay here again. May 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Minor set backs... I always stay at this hotel, this one is my favorite! But I suppose you have your good and bad stays (even at your favorite). There was a "hot water" issue when we arrived to check in. There was absolutely no hot water! I could tell the staff was beginning to get overwhelmed by the guest complaints but, I knew it wasn't their fault. The water was back on by around 10 or 11 pm #had left and returned#. Then everything was back to normal. So for having a huge set back, everything was still fine. May 23, 2013

Although the Austin Midtown did not offer the amenties usually associated with a major convention hotel, the venue was clean and comfortable, and the staff more than met the needs for our 3-day meeting. But the comfort of the room, the friendliness of the staff, and the full-service restaurant and bar quickly won me over. Great meeting rooms for functions, modern renovated rooms, and food. Close to some shopping options and not far from tourist activity downtown with 6th street or the state buildings. If you want a refrig in the room, request it early. May 15, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by What's up with the pillows ? I've stayed here twice and enjoyed both times. This time, the bed had the small pillows which was unusual and a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great. The breakfast buffet was very good, nothing fancy like crepes or champagne but if you want some good breakfast food, this is the place. May 7, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel in questionable area The hotel seems updated, though there are some ceiling tiles that need to be replaced in the hallways. Overall, the hotel and room seemed great, but we missed the turn around at our exit and discovered the neighborhood around the hotel is questionable at best. The hotel has multiple police cars patrol the grounds throughout the evening for the safety of their guests. While that might reassure some, it was a bigger testament of why we would book at a different location during our next trip to Austin. May 7, 2013
