Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and old building The rooms are old and stained. The parking lot or garage is scary. The elevators are unkept. The shower did not work. We did not had a refund because it was intelligently charged for a so called "best deal". I suggest to remodel the hotel. January 4, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The water smells We stayed in rm 1214 and then moved to 1201 because the heat was not working properly. In both rooms both the hot and cold water smells like muddy river or stagnant water. I dont know if this is just the 12 floor or whole hotel or whole of austin. The receptionist did not ask how my stay was when i checked out , or i would have asked/mentioned it .. January 2, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs updating and cleaning Hotel is in desperate need of cleaning and updates. Dirty, out of date and not in great condition. Attempted to get water from vending machine, but machine was out of service on our floor. When I asked staff, they gave me 2 bottles only if I gave an email address to register for holiday inn rewards. They told me to use vending machine on other floors or buy from bar. Did not want to go to bar, noisy crowd. Attempted vending machine on 2 more floors. All out of service. No one ever came to fix. Would not recommend this hotel. December 31, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good accomodation and great location The Hotel staff took great care of us and the room was fine. The bed was excellent. We were able to get a top floor room on the river side (Gold Card status) which made the stay excellent. Having included breakfast and parking is excellent. The restaurant staff were excellent, very polite, and took great care of us. The hotel is well placed such that we could walk to 6th Street and Congress Avenue etc. plus we were real close to Rainey Street. December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by room and bed very nice This is one of my favorite places to stay in Austin . December 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room service The hotel is showing some wear but still very nice. Room service and staff were very sweet and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. December 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by stuck here On busy trip and caught by a Ice storm! The staff was a very good to work with us while we were there! Saying that; The hotel is a little worn out. December 9, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I wouldnt call it a 5 star This hotel shows its age well, I liked the décor I the lobby. Be it out dated, a deep cleaning would do wonders. The rooms are in need of updating as well. Carpets are really needing replaced. The usual dust bunnies in most corners. And yes one elevator was out of order but we didn't have any congestion, so ?? Hotel restaurant was overpriced and the kitchen must have been on the next block as the food, while tasting fine, was not very warm. December 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast? Stayed for work. Not happy about the "non-qualifying" status of my stay points-wise. Should be a way around that. Surprised to find that the usual Holiday Inn Breakfast was NOT complimentary...but that's okay, I didn't ask. $12 for a waffle and coffee kind of steep. Counter Host were very accommodating, Free Parking and Internet a plus. Lunch buffet was quite good, though I wish I had asked about the pasta sauce that I enjoyed, it was quite delicious. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel- business trip To save on cost I did not rent a rental car. The hotel provided airport shuttle and service for a 2 mile radius. It worked for my trip and all the hotel staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is right off of lake which makes a for a great running spot. Will be staying again. November 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Resort - Did not meet our expectation My parents-in-low arrange wine & strawberries to be delivered to the room but it never arrived till nearly our last day when I requested it. Lack of choices of food specially if you vegetarian like myself. Staff were friendly and I do not blame them for the poor experience we had. Needless to mention how overpriced everything was in our view. It was a work/honeymoon trip that we will never forget but sadly the hotel overall did not make it extra especial. My appreciation goes to April, the reception girl who was very kind to us in arranging a complementary wine & strawberries. November 25, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A very tired hotel I stayed here for 4 nights over the period of the formula one race weekend. On arrival at 3pm I was told that my room wasn't ready yet and that it would be another 45mins or so. This was after a 6hr drive. Not a good start. I elected to have a different room that was ready and would save some money on the ridiculously inflated prices for this weekend. The room was old and not particularly clean. Of the 4 days that I stayed out of the two elevators that they had one was always broken. On two occasions that I needed it both elevators were broken and I has to walk down the stairs from floor 7. This included the morning when I had to check out with some pretty heavy bags. Overall for the money I would never stay there again. The only pro that I can say is its location near to Rainey Street. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love this hotel The staff and the service is awesome. I travel to Austin for business on a regular basis and this is always my first choice for hotel stays. Even though I could stay closer to the Capitol, I prefer this hotel due to staff, services and location. November 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff Goes the Extra Mile Our family has been coming to this hotel annually for over 30 years and have never been disappointed in the service, customer relations, and quality of the property. The staff really goes the extra mile to make our stay wonderful! November 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, old hotel. The staff was wonderful and the hotel was clean, but it is really showing its age. Unfortunately the entire hotel probably need to be refurbished. November 5, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Would not stay here again Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Shower was broke and had to be fixed. AC was working on and off. The best was water was leaking from the room above and flooded my bathroom. November 2, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, but... The hotel is located on Town Lake, so it's fairly convenient to downtown. Room smelled musty; carpets were dingy, vents were oozing dust and dirt; they obviously had not been vacuumed in ages. We also felt the maids must have cleaned quickly rather than thoroughly! On the positive side, when we complained about the cooling unit banging all night, a repairman did arrive promptly and fixed the problem the next morning. We had one meal in the hotel restaurant -- would not eat there again. October 31, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Please remodel, it has potential with the location. The whole hotel is old and it looks worn down. No matter how much spray you use the place stinks. The room smelled terribly. Under any other circumstance I would have left and found another hotel. October 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Banquet room was exceptional Great stay at The Holiday Inn at Town Lake. We hosted a dinner that night at the Lantana room and had amazing service and the food was fantastic! We will plan to do the same thing again in the future! Our room in the South tower was so nice and a great view! October 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful view of lake We chose this hotel because it was supposed be within walking distance of 6th street. It felt like we walked 10 blocks to get there, and it was some scary areas. The rooms were very small, and the bathroom was tiny, barely enough room to shut the door. The view of the lake was awesome, and you could rent canoes, and boats to go out on it. The parking garage was free, but was not monitored by hotel staff. My biggest complaint was the food prices, for the price of the hotel, breakfast should have been included. They did have a shuttle service to 6th street, so he took us there and gave a card to call when we were ready to return. I called the hotel when we were ready, but they said the shuttles were at the airport, so we walked back, When we got back both shuttles were there. I would probably stay here again, but now I will be better prepared for walking. October 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, friendly, helpfull staff We had our. Korean War reunion there in October. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff could not have been more helpful. We especially loved the hotel van that would take us to our destinations. The employee Fred made all of our excursions enjoyable. We had older people that needed help and he was always there to help. The restaurant staff was great and food good. I would recommend this place and if you have to plan a reunion work with Bridgette she was a great help in organizing our reunion October 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful View My room was comfortable and had a great view. The bar was also enjoyable. The restaurant personal were more than accommodating and friendly. October 14, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Staff but Overall Poor Quality I live in Austin and have had the opportunity to stay at many hotels in the downtown area. This is the first hotel that I will not come back too. The front desk was very friendly and I enjoy the free parking garage as well as the state of the downstairs but once you head up to your room it goes all down hill from there. The moment we got off the elevator it felt very dingy, there was a foul odor, and a room service tray ended up sitting in the hallway for 24 hours. It was disgusting. Our door was very hard to open at times. The room was comfortable but when I went to wash my hands the water came out brown and we both refused to shower after that (luckily we were only there one night!) I understand not all rooms have a great view (as ours faced the parking garage) so I hope not all the rooms are priced the same because for our overall experience here I was very unhappy for what I paid and I will never come stay at this hotel again. October 14, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Old and Reliable Given the age of this hotel I was very pleased with my overall experience. I was in Austin at the time this site was built and have not stayed there in over 20 years. October 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by tired decor but nice folks We like staying at the Holiday Inn Town Lake because it is close to Rainey Street, the hiking trails and downtown. The rooms could use a serious decor overhaul but they are functional. We always stay in a Tower room although they seem to be a bit pricey for what they are- but they have nice views, and they are quiet. We stayed here for the ACL weekend, and what I really appreciated was the free shuttle to Republic square. We also thought the breakfast in the hotel restaurant was good and reasonably priced. And I have to say that every single person who works there is super friendly and cheerful October 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Stay Stayed at your hotel for 4 days along with 13 of our friends all of whom agree with me that it was one of the better hotels that we have stayed at. October 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not anymore. Second time in the facility, elevators to old. They put me in a room facing behind build boards. They haven't even input my rewards for visit in August. For the value I will visit other facility next time I visit my son and daughter at Austin. October 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service The hotel staff was wonderful and took care of all my needs. We were there for a convention and they made sure that I had transportation to the convention center and to 6th Street. Room was nice and parking was easy. September 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Small room. Bad cleaning Good location. Friendly staff at reception and restaurant/bar. Food ok. Worst room cleaning service ever. Just changed towels and made bed. No wc paper. Never cleaned floor or carpet in 7 days. Some one came into my room with his room key!!??...at 12 am. One Elevator didn't work 2 days. Ice machine didn't work. Hall ways dirty. Nobody cleans nowhere. September 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location I went to Austin for a long weekend to celebrate my best friends wedding. She and her husband-to-be chose this hotel for their out-of-town guests. The hotel may be old, but it has been well maintained, clean, and the room sizes (South Tower) were great. I especially loved how close it was to all the "hot spots" in Austin (South Congress, 6th Street, and Town Lake). Great place, great price, and great location! September 20, 2013
