Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Poor Restaurant Service
Hotel is nice overall, but it looks like they forgot the business traveler. Tried eating breakfast three times in two weeks. Each time, I sat at a table for over 10 minutes without restaurant staff even acknowledging my existence. I spoke with other co-workers who have stayed here in the past and they all indicated the same level of poor service in the restaurant.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gary4570 Morning pool time viewing the lake-NOT! Renovations needed!!
We moved to this location in Austin, TX on Saturday afternoon and were very excited to be staying overlooking Town Lake. We had our day all planned: sign retirement papers, ride a boat around Lake Travis, eat at the Oasis, and relax Sunday morning at the pool overlooking Town Lake. We were aware that the hotel was in the process of being renovated but were told that they were doing it floor by floor and that as "spire members," we would be given a newly renovated room. This used to be a very nice property and hopefully it will be again. It has many attractive features that will draw the tourists if it is renovated and cleaned very soon. While at this hotel, you must pay for breakfast, it was a great room and the food was good. After breakfast, we put on our bathing suits and were ready to relax before having to drive home for work the next day. Alas, when we got to the pool, it was padlocked. I went into the exercise room and called the front desk. The person that answered acted surprised when I told her it was locked. I told her that there was a group up at the pool waiting to get in. After waiting another 15 minutes, no one came. I went down to the front desk and was told that the pool would be back open around 1:30 or 2:00 pm that afternoon. This was extremely bad planning on their part. It also would have been nice if someone from the front desk or maintenance had come to tell us instead of me having to go and ask again. They were overstaffed for the morning and could easily have done this. Spire members are supposed to be able to check out at 2:00 pm and we were excited about this feature so that we could relax. We ended up going to Barton Springs and paying to play in them for an hour so that we would not be late checking out.
I would think that it would be a good idea for someone to make sure that everyone is aware of the features of each hotel if only IHG staff can make reservations for reward nights. Since the pool played a large feature in our trip, it would have been nice to be able to use it.
My husband was appalled by this hotel and its state of disrepair. He stays many nights in hotels for business as well as pleasure and was not at all pleased with this stay. My son and I thought it was "ok" but not what we have seen of other properties. My husband said it's a good thing that I lost my sense of smell in March because I would have been very disturbed by it...
