i had a little trouble confirming my booking as this was a block booking made by someone else, kept being transferred on the phone to different departments and having to repeat myself each time,
the hotel was clean with friendly staff and very relaxing apart from a squeaky bed and small pillows otherwise very good.

Excellent mattress, choice of pillows and room dark enough to sleep well.
Could do with a full length mirror in room.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by elixieer22 Quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in by IHG
- Please excuse my spelling I am Autistic -
The Holiday Inn Aylesbury - Quite possibly the worst IHG branded hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in.
We checked into our hotel around 8pm we were greeted by a lovely women very polite. I was surprised I was asked to pre authorize as a gold member with more than 90,000 points Never the less I just paid for the whole room up front. Easier no mistakes.
We were allocated room a king size room (upgraded for free from a double) room 259. It was above the air conditioning units and was noisy. The gate to the units didn't seem shut at all and there were locks and nothing to stop the wind from slamming the gates open and shut all night which kept us awake when the window was open. Even when it was shut we could still hear it and it was VERY annoying. We did try putting a towel underneath the door so it would ham shut but that didn't work. There was no one in reception to talk to and when we finally did they just said they would get maintenance to sort it, they never did.
We were woken up at 10am by reception ringing asking what time we will be checking out. How odd as we had a late checkout between 1330 and 1400 and checkout was mid day anyway for standard customers. We got another call a mid day asking us to leave the room. We still had another 2 hours left. Ridiculous. We just unplugged the phone couldn't be bothered to keep answering calls when all we wanted to do was sleep.
If that wasn't annoying enough we had room service try to enter our room twice to clean it. The hotel claim the sign on the door said "clean our room" however we put it as "too comfortable leave us alone" or whatever it said. It was obvious we didnt need our room cleaning as we were only there one night. They tried to get in a second time after we had told them we didnt want it cleaned. Whats the problem? There is no organization at all we lost a lot of sleep time beingb woken up by gates slamming, reception calling and house keeping tring to break into our room. The hotel admitted it but tried to blame it on us. It isn't rocket science to see that someone staying a single night doesnt need their room cleaning I mean what do they want, for us to get out of bed clean our room then us to get back in for an hour? How silly? Still....
The hotel was clean, the bathroom was a very size reasonable size the bath was massive is comparison to other Holiday Inn hotels. We had all the things you usually get but there was an acute lack of plug sockets NONE by the bed at all. We had one by the desk and one by the window. Another by the door. Only one could really be used to charge laptops phone etc..
The room was lovely the bed felt like 2 double beds put together, the manager made excuses "Jone" but it clearly was not a whole unit it was VERY uncomfortable in the middle. We had to sleep apart the 2 sides on both ends of the bed were very comfortable though. The bed was the largest bed I have ever seen..
We requested extra pillows which will got already placed into our rooms. We were missing a towel but that doesn't matter. The lighting was really nice and you could pull the lights out towards you on the bed they were dim and not too bright as to blind you with the black out curtains.
We got 2 sofa soda beds free and we also had ample cupboard. The hotel is air conditioned as you may have guessed. The pool was lovely parking was ample free and fine we parked right outside our room being a motorcycle. We didn't eat at the hotel but the food looked good from what we could see.
The room was hard to find and the corridors looked more like a prison than a hotel with the sheer number of rooms and corridors it was become confusing. I have a disability I was unable to book an accessibility room and had I had a physical condition this hotel has no lifts.
checkout was quick took seconds check in the same. The duty manager "Jone" needs a lesson is customer service training I think a course on manners and how to speak and address people would be great since she was one of the rudest exployers on any hotel I have EVER been to. I will for this reason NEVER come back to this hotel and NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone if anything should go wrong they are not going to compensate or offer you anything as a gesture of goodwill. She just made up excuses which made me very angry. The hotel refused to give me the general managers email address however I called IHG directly and I am now taking this matter further with them.
I would have liked to have seen some compensation offered, IHG did give me some points however the hotel didn't offer anything directly. "sorry" does not justify the price we paid to stay for a single night to be woken so many times.
Reception don't answer the phone when you call them so no room service.. No wifi codes at check in.. Wont let me write anymore.
