I use this hotel a lot when I travel down from Scotland to do business and its always good to see it as its like coming home. The staff are always very friendly and helpful
I had to stay on an extra night and did not tell reception till the last minute but they were helpful and managed to keep me in the same room.

As usual, the cleanliness and quality of the food was second to none, but having reserved a Superior Room, we found we were in a family room, with connecting door, and found it far noisier than on any other Holiday Inn stay

As the title of this comment indicates, I am a Platinum Ambassador member of the IHG Hotels group of which Holiday Inn is a part. I use them regularly because I know that I can usually expect a reasonably comfortable room, good service and facilities.
I booked two rooms for two nights from Friday 13th November 2015 to Sunday 15th November.
The 'accessible' room I booked for my disabled daughter was fine, however, the Executive King room I booked for myself was not.
I thought it odd as I went into the room that the usual 'extras' that I find in such rooms were absent (welcome letter, dressing gown, water, chocolates etc.) but put this down to an oversight as the hotel being very busy. The room was otherwise good.
The problems began when we went for dinner, having booked a table at 6:30pm, and were directed to what can only be described as a hastily set up temporary dining area in a small meeting room. We were then presented with the lounge and bar menu and told there was a limited dining service because the main dining room was hosting a Christmas Party.
I was not happy because I had just driven for 5 hours to get to the hotel and wanted a proper meal, not a burger or a bar snack. But since it was now after 7pm, there was no other option in the hotel.
Being tired after my long drive and not very happy at the food on offer at dinner, I went back to my room to get an early night and was sitting in bed watching the news when I realised I could not hear the TV because there was very loud music playing somewhere.
It was not difficult to find out where ... the restaurant which was directly opposite my room, all of 50 yards across a very small garden, where the Christmas Party was in full swing.
I called reception, but nobody answered, so I got dressed and went to find the manager. I was told that the music would stop at 12pm ... but no apology was forthcoming.
After I patiently explained that I could not even hear the TV over the music and that I was expecting a quiet room so I could sleep, I was told that the hotel was full and the only other room available was a basic room which happenned to be closer to the music.
The hotel night manager knocked on my door to apologise at about 11:15pm and told me I would not be charged for my stay. I told him I would have preferred to pay and get the service I should have had. A refund of the room rate was a pathetic attempt at concilliation, especially since he had to shout to be heard above the music!
I had no choice but to put up with the noise, unitl about 01:45 when the party broke up and the drunken revellers had finished saying goodbye to their party leader who seemed to have the room next to mine.
The next day (Saturday) was fine until dinner, apart from the very slow internet (not the free one, the super-fast paid for one) .
In the proper restaurant this time, I ordered a steak and fries (because there were no other potatoes on the menu). The steak arrived with fries, mushrooms and peas ... all stone cold.
By now I was seeing a pattern .. a rubbish hotel I will not return to in a hurry, there are many others available for my future trips to Aylesbury.
At checkout, they tried to have me sign the full bill, and when I told them what the night manager from the Friday had said, they said there was no record of that and asked if it was the noisy room that was the problem.
They did discount the room rate, but by then I had had enough, paid the bill and left in disgust.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. They accepted the booking (at full price) and clearly thought nothing of putting one of their preferred customers in a room where they would not be happy and seemed to be irritated when I complained. I could not believe they did not see fit to mention the party or the loss of amenities when I booked (or even when I arrived at the hotel).
