Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Another fantastic stay The 'curb appeal' is always great. The grounds are clean and welcoming. When I walk into the lobby I feel right at home. Front desk staff is always welcoming and has the room ready. The housekeeping staff is also wonderful. They're so friendly. Once again the food and wait staff was the best. The entire hotel staff makes my stays easy and comfortable. I'm able to get so much work done in a short period of time. I'm thankful I decided to give this hotel a try many years ago. I've never had second thoughts. In fact the staff at this hotel is like my family! I love them dearly. July 1, 2014

Staff and management really show that they want to have their guests a pleasant stay. We really got surprised by their efforts for my sisters birthday. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Faulty Central air conditioning Since a 1 nite stay, I did not inform or ask to move to another suite or floor with a hopefully better Central air conditioning. Although I followed the air conditioning directions, my room's temperature via the digital thermostat ranged between 80 and 82'F. 1st trip to Bakersfield and if I choose a future stay at this Holiday Inn & Suites, I'll be sure to request a 1st floor room or suite. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great for families We stayed in a two bed/two room suite on a high floor. We had two kids on the pull out couch and another in one of the beds. All three cuddled up on the pull out to watch TV. We had some trouble hooking up our dvd player to the TV - we could never get the picture in color, but sound was fine - spent a lot of time on this frustration. Its really helpful to have the fridge and microwave - we were able to make simple snacks in the evening. Johns Incredible Pizza is just around the corner which the kid's loved. Also had pizza delivered from Rustys (good). Rusty's makes a decent tourist map of Bakersfield you can ask for at front desk. The hotel is also convenient to the 99 and the new west-side expressway. Its one of the newer ones on this "hotel row" and is therefore one of the nicest. The pool is indoors (yay!) and decent size. The restaurant is convenient but understaffed and slow, with only average food. Drive west down Rosedale Hwy to the shopping area for restaurants. For breakfast, avoid the nearby Denny's on Buck Owens Blvd (Yuck!) and use IHOP instead -- or better yet, experience local color by eating at the yummy (traditional diner) 24th Street Grill. The hotel is modern, clean, and furnished in good taste. The food was fantastic too. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly and efficient staff. We will return within a month! June 12, 2014

From the moment we walked through the front door, until we checked out to leave, the hotel staff made us feel very welcome. The service and amenities were all we could ask for. Every staff person takes ownership of the hotel and they work as a well-oiled machine. All of us in management should take notes on their team building methods. Whether it's breakfast or dinner I've always had the best service and awesome food. It's my home away from home. June 6, 2014

A bunch of hotels all in the same area are priced about the same. Have stayed in most of them. Staff was friendly but not overly. Condition of the room was ok. Found the shower wall had a big crack in it. Water flow was varying during the shower. No fridge or microwave. Other hotels in area offer this but not all. Bed was comfortable. Some outlets didn't work in the room. Overall, average accommodations for the price. Nothing was outstanding or impressive. I would recommend this hotel only because it is in a safe area and you know what you can expect from Holiday Inn...just don't expect too much. May 18, 2014

No microwave, no refrigerator, no complimentary breakfast. For Gold and Platinum IHG Guests you should give "Free Breakfast" vouchers to your "on site restaurant" for each guest. May 16, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Quality and service not up to Holiday Inn Standards We have stay at this hotel 2-4 times a year for the past 4 years or so. The quality of the rooms and the service has really gone downhill. - This last stay the air system in the room did not work. We didn't catch on till 1 am and then had to change rooms. Didn't get much sleep at all so the whole reason for stopping here was shot. -We booked a room for 4 people, only 3 bath towels in a double queen room. Had to go to front desk for towels, took them 15 min. to find some. - Pool is not heated, so it is basically unuseable, It was a disappoitment to the kids who like to get their pent up energy out in the pool. -The policy change of no pets allowed was disappoiting. We travel with our house dog and always chose this hotel because they allowed pets. He had to stay in the car. Although this trip, he was probably more comfortable then us in the room. April 22, 2014

Staff, in our opinion, seemed more interested in conversation with themselves than providing service to customers. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but could be better Overall, not bad but it could be better with simple changes. Check in was painfully slow. Only one person was working the desk with about 5 of us in line. Finally a 2nd person came out to help. The water flow restriction device in the shower seemed to be set too low (even for CA) and did not have a good flow rate. The tray holding the ice bucket, coffee maker, glasses, etc was placed in the middle of the desk????? Had to put it on the floor when I tried to work on the desk. Need to find a better place to put it. Also, several outlets did not work (especially in the bases of the lamps). March 17, 2014

The room was spacious, the food excellent and the staff awesome. Staff takes ownership of the hotel. It may not be their job, but they'll make sure your request is taken care of.
