Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good but could be better Overall, not bad but it could be better with simple changes. Check in was painfully slow. Only one person was working the desk with about 5 of us in line. Finally a 2nd person came out to help. The water flow restriction device in the shower seemed to be set too low (even for CA) and did not have a good flow rate. The tray holding the ice bucket, coffee maker, glasses, etc was placed in the middle of the desk????? Had to put it on the floor when I tried to work on the desk. Need to find a better place to put it. Also, several outlets did not work (especially in the bases of the lamps). March 17, 2014

The room was spacious, the food excellent and the staff awesome. Staff takes ownership of the hotel. It may not be their job, but they'll make sure your request is taken care of. Team work is very apparent. Every staff member respects their guests. It's a wonderful place to stay. It's my home away from home and the staff make me feel a part of their family. March 14, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The employees make the difference First off, I stay at a bunch of Holiday Inns. As a Platinum Elite member I take note of the differences between locations and there was one big difference between this location and all the employee named Liz. Before we get to that, the room, location, service, etc was all acceptable. Everything was what you would expect from Holiday Inn; comfortable rooms, good locations, clean and safe. Now, back to Liz. Because the airline had lost my luggage I was forced to make due without the luxuries that we all bring with us when we travel. No toiletries and too late at night to go get them. However when I mentioned this to Liz she sprang into action collecting me toothpaste, a toothbrush, a razor, shaving cream, even deodorant.. She did this with charm and a smile. It was just what I needed after a weary day. Someone at this location needs to give that girl a high-five and a raise. Her attitude, attention, and service was a pleasant surprise and rare. They made sure our experience was wonderful. After hearing everyone complain about the Internet, I had no problem with it at all. Worked wonderful. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unprofessional Housekeeping I checked into this location on Saturday early evening & was politely served by a nice & respectful young lady that was working at front desk at the time. I took the elevator to the 2nd floor and into the room I was assigned. My immediate reaction was that it definitely smelled like someone had been relaxing in the room. I walked into the room with a strong scent of men's cologne, the television on, the pillows on the mattress were not done up & the most disgusting appearance of a toilet that was not flushed properly. At first I thought I had been in the wrong room but no, I was in the right room however there had been someone in there. I immediately called front desk from the room and explained the situation. She came up quickly & escorted me to another room. It was by far the most unprofessional. I have stayed at this location previously & was content with my stay however with that kind of disruption it was very uncomfortable. I appreciate the front desk concierge for giving me another room but if anything housekeeping &all others working for the company should be able to keep it "professional." January 30, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the place to stay if you want internet service in your room I usually stay at the Holiday In Express but due to the Big Win promotion I booked a room at the Holiday Inn. Beautiful new facility but the wifi in the room was slower than my aol dial up that I abandoned 10 years ago. It took awhile but I managed to run and it was 10 % of my download rate on dialup. Websites kept timing out due to no response. When I went down to front desk and complained I was told “yea we know our internet is slow but there is nothing we can do …it’s a corporate thing”. Also, the room has plenty of empty space but the work table is small. Not a place to stay if you need the internet. or want to work in your room. November 10, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Outside by Inside rooms not so great Customer service great, pleasant smile & welcome outside appearance nice, but once past elevator not so great reminds me of a cheaper motel, room ac noisy and did not cool well, was placed next to a group that was doing work in area and they kept meeting next door and slamming the doors, yelling at each other loud in hallways up till after midnight. Easy to get in and out of hotel no real perks for IHG Platinum Members a very small bottle of water and a small kids size garonola bar, internet was Extremely slow so I just thetered with my cellphone it worked much faster. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Perfect Stay This was a perfect stay. We went to a minor league game, and came back to the hotel. The kids swum in the indoor pool. I had a great shower. Watched tv, and the bed was very soft, with comfortable pillows. Breakfast was awesome as well with yummy French toast. Perfect night. I used the Wi-Fi too for the first time on my new phone. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Holiday Inn in Bakersfield This is a very decent hotel at a good price right off of the 99 Freeway (but far enough away that you do not hear traffic). The lobby was nice and modern. The rooms were very clean and well updated. The bar and restaurant were convenient and actually served some pretty decent food. At the recommendation of the front desk we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. It may have been the worst hotel restaurant meal we've had in out 45 years of marriage. Service was adequate. You should consider shutting the restaurant down at this hotel and concentrate on the hotel. The indoor pool was freezing, but maybe it's never heated. September 13, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay! We stayed in a suite due to having my 2 grandsons with us. It was a wonderful room. This particular hotel, along with 2 others, although close to the freeway, is a little odd to get to but we had our navigation to help us. In front of the hotels are pipeline companies and a refinery across the main road. We are familiar with Bakersfield so we knew the area was fine. It is also not far to a couple of nice shopping centers going east on the main road (Rosedale Hwy, now called Hwy 58). The complimentary breakfast was missed but they have a small restaurant and bar. Stayed here several times and like the place but I was quoted a corp rate because I need a place to stay once or twice a week for the next few years here in Bakersfield. The rate I was quoted never matched what I was billed. Almost checked in again tonight and the same issue came up. Staying down the street a few hundred feet tonight and probably for the next few years. Tried to fix it but I got treated like a liar....nice. September 4, 2013

While I was there I had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and the service was impeccable, the food was very good, and the servers made it fun to be there. The rooms were fine as well. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Housekeeping Each day the Housekeeping Department did a wonderful job of straightening up the room and making the beds. It was like a new room each time. The only suggestion I have is that most other hotels offer in-room mini-fridges and/or microwaves, even for their standard rooms, not just for suites. It would have been nice to have that. But overall this is a very nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay. August 16, 2013
