Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Let down by niggles. like most in this price bracket. With Hotels the good things are expected now. There is no room for slackness. Silly little things just niggle - they're not the end of the world - just niggle. A major thing is not getting a wake up call - just don't trust them is my advice after this - there's no process to ensure it immediately happens - it relies on the member of staff remembering -not good. No plates at breakfast - not an issue- Oh - no bowls either - tell someone again - just don't believe staff care or no process. If no process - management don't care. Not major issues - just annoyances. People say I shouldn't expect 5* service in a 3* hotel. Well what is 3* service? It's not the quality of the rooms and comfort - excellent. It's the people things - that's where it fails - as I say - it's not exceptional it's the industry norm. I obviously have to pay a lot more to avoid niggles - OH and get a wake up call. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely Hotel Stayed for a night as myself and husband were attending the annual works party in the hotel. The hotel more than met our expectations - lovely welcoming and spacious reception area. it was extremely clean and the reception staff very helpful and polite, rooms comfortable and clean. I'm only sorry we didn't get to sample the breakfast in the morning !!. all in all a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to return or recommend. January 28, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Always a good stay. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Barnsley many times now and always enjoy my visit. The staff are great and always very welcoming. Service with a smile! Rooms are modern and clean. Nice bar area and reception. Good location just off M1 and free use of Bannatyne gym and swimming pool next door is ideal. Breakfast choice could be a bit better but still fine. Looking forward to my next stay. January 18, 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Another Stay here but signs of costcutting The only thing striking as new this time was a cheaper approach to the bedroom and esp the bathroom. Only having liquid Lux rather than soap; thin plastic glasses; and a remote which did not include the radio or sub titles for the TV were three examples. The soundproofing to the room next door was also poor this time. January 7, 2015
