The friendly welcome was a great first impression and the room was clean & comfortable and all of the staff were friendly and efficient which made our stay perfect.
The location even though close to plenty of activity and the main road network was peaceful and relaxing and I would recommend this hotel without hesitation, well done folks!

Booked for one night as attending a friends party in the area. The hotel is clean , neat and tidy. The reception staff polite, friendly and helpful.We booked a double room with sofa bed and the room was huge, it had trouser press, iron & ironing board, and mini fridge. There was an air conditioning unit and there were clear instructions how to use it, and an explanation that it was centrally controlled. The weather on this day was fairly warm and we would have used it, but I think it was still switched off, however we used natures aircon and opened the window and had a cooling breeze, the area was quiet enough so we were not disturbed by outside noise. The bed was large and comfortable and the room clean. One the night we stayed there were two weddings booked in the hotel and this made the bar area busy at times, I was surprised when returning from the party to find two doorman hovering in the bar/reception area(apparently there are 4 night clubs close by). Whilst this did not put me off my night cap it was a little disconcerting.We did not eat in the hotel and I cannot comment on the food/restaurant.

Stay here fairly frequently for work due to convenient location. Have never felt it is good value for money, but this time it was slightly worse than usual.
I was initially checked into a room that was either already in use, or hadn't been cleaned. Then had to hang around for 40 minutes (after a 3 hour car journey) while they found me another appropriate room.
The internet slowed down to unusable speeds mid evening - a couple of times. complained and they did something which improved it slightly. I winder if it is down to overloading as I'm sure lots of guests will want to stream TV/movies as the TV channel selection is limited and movies are expensive.
Noise from the boy-racers in the neighbouring car parks is also a continuing problem. I wonder if the hotel could work with security/the police to address this?

It was great to see the new breakfast menu - a real improvement!!
As always, the staff and service were superb. As regular visitors to Basildon we really do appreciate the care the staff take to make our stay so easy.

Nice modern hotel. Very clean rooms and public area. All staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very tasty and everything you could want for.Beds very comfy. The area was nice and quiet all night.

Within reason, a bed is a bed. Most hotels in this price bracket are similar in terms of facilities and as long as they are clean, I am a reasonably easy traveller to please. I stay in this hotel on a fairly regular basis and the rooms have always been clean and tidy. What makes this hotel stand out is the staff and the genuine welcome that you receive. The friendly attitude is genuine and not just because certain pleasantries are required by the management. From first check in, use of room service, breakfast to check out, all of the Holiday Inn (Basildon) staff are friendly and engaging. Thanks.
