Hotel clean and modern, close to my work. The rooms lack a comfortable chair in which to sit. The upstairs lounge is good but maybe a little bright. The bar lounge is a bit more like a foyer. The staff are excellent and the food is very good. I slept well, so all in all quite good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by thomas1961 My second try
I stayed in this hotel some month ago and my review was not really good but I decided to give this hotel a second chance and the experince has improved. Of course this time i did get upgrades based on my membership level and rooms are ok. Service from staff was really good an everybody was really service minded and that was diffrent from my last experience. Overall I was enjoying this stay and will whenever its time to go back to Basingstoke stay in this hotel

I have up until recently been a regular at a different hotel chain, by chance I had booked the Holiday Inn @ Basingstoke. The staff there are excellent and very welcoming. I have stayed there several times and the service is consistently to a very high standard and I would recommend this hotel to others.
Once again thankyou to all the staff.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by hotelreviewer67 Decent hotel for the price!
We stayed for 2 nights as we had a wedding at Audleys Wood, so the location was perfect for us.
The room was nicer than we expected for what we had paid, and the service at check in and when we ordered a taxi was good.
The hotel was really quiet so they cooked breakfast to order, and the restaurant was very quiet which made a nice relaxed breakfast.
The mattress was pretty poor, and we didnt get a good nights sleep either night. Might be okay for one person to sleep on, but was it was quite bouncy any small movement woke the other person up.
The corridors smelt quite strongly of smoke which I couldn't get my head around, being that all rooms are meant to be non smoking nowadays.
An okay hotel, good for a one night stopover if you need to be there for the area. Pretty good for what you pay. Definitely beats staying in a Travelodge! Only a 10 minute drive into the town centre, and parking in the main shopping park was reasonably priced for an evenings amount of parking.

When my "original" room was unsatisfactory, I was moved to another room straight away, which was much better.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tmj5 Excellent Hotel. Very good service
Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Room excellent, food very good provided by helpful and friendly staff.
Very comfortable large double bed. The only thing missing was that there were no additional blankets in the room for cooler evenings. There was a good heating/air conditioning system but the inevitable background noise from the system can be distracting at night.
However I'm sure blankets would be provided on request and overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pyramid1985 Good service, good value for money
First room stank of smoke, reported to reception and no quibble gave another room instantly.
Walls and doors not very good sound proofed. We had an early start and could hear children and adults talking, walking, shouting, running, doors slamming from rooms a few doors either side! Kept us awake for a couple of hours.
Room very clean, everything needed for a nights stay was there, bed comfy.

I would highly recommend this hotel, the staff are great and are very efficient and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and they deserve a great deal of praise. I have to say that breakfast is a great highlight, so please say thankyou to James the breakfast chef who really makes a great poached egg!!

Pleasant stay with hearty breakfasts and enjoyable meals, staff friendly and helpful. The only problem for me was the firm mattress,
but housekeeping helped by layering the mattress with 2 duvets. Shame there are no choices as with the pillows. I know this would be hard to achieve but toppers could be available especially if staying more than one night.

A very restful experience with friendly, courteous staff.. Close enough to Basingstoke for shopping in the town centre. Take the bus if you don't want the hassle of parking.
There are several National Trust places of interest and the Milestones Museum in the vicinity

1 Room was OK but very dark and a bit depressing
2 Bathroom was good but the hand basin had a nasty brown stain in it due to a damaged area which was a bit of putting.
3 Restaurant service gave priority to coach parties at the expense of other guests and the alternative arrangements were in one case not very comfortable and in another the room was very cold.
I quite like the hotel and have been staying there for many years and have seen many changes some not always for the best

The hotel was the venue for a recent training course, the provider of which uses IHG's Academy services. All staff delivered the experience I expected and encourage my return if my family needed to visit the area although, unfortunately, there are no leisure facilities here. The room was well presented & comfortable with a modern bathroom. I found all food to be excellent. Biggest negative: the bar prices.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by poshmob Small room
As regular Holiday Inn guests we were disappointed by the small room area. Insufficient parking in the car park nearest to reception but plenty if continue round. Only two disabled bays in front area near reception, more at the back.
Bed not as comfortable as the usual ones for HI.
Staff excellent and breakfast good.

Room very badly isolated could here the neighbour Breathe then the room next to you and the one living on top everytime he moved was like ther was an elephant Walking around in the room. Restaurant service was also unfortunatly quite bad. I ordered food and got my chicken and fries after 3 other guests that arrived 10 mins after me had both their starter and main served... i requested water to my wine and it took around 6 minutes to get it even though there was a max of 10 guestes in the restaurant and 3 people serving. Only positive is that the staff in the reception did their work really smooth on checkin and check out and all staff was really friendly when meeting them in the corridors.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sinaben My Stay's and the Breakfast
I have been a Platinum member of the Holiday Inn IHG club for 10 years and in all my Stays Basingstoke do have to most tasteless Breakfast I have ever had. Slow Cooked Brioled (New Word for Slow boiled in Oil) eggs are a Joke, why are the not fried/Griddled correctly? Half cooked sausages and dried out Bacon. The Scrambled eggs are like porridge and the Poached Eggs take about 20 Minutes so get to the table and are like Gob stoppers. You are normally safe with the Holiday Inn Breakfast selection but not in Basingstoke.
I would suggest you go to the Garage and get a breakfast sandwich, better VFM and has taste.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sue1953 Clean and quiet
Easy check in and out, room clean with an excellent size TV. Quiet location, bathroom and shower just as I like it and as good as at home.
Staff very welcoming and polite.
Breakfast was served in two different rooms due to the main restaurant being refurbished on arrival. Both rooms were pleasant, clean cutlery, very good choice of food.
The overall value for two nights stay with breakfast in a quality hotel was excellent.
When visiting family in that area again I would choose the Holiday Inn without hesitation and would also recommend it to family and friends.
I have decided to choose the Holiday Inn for my stay while travelling back from an overseas holiday in October, as I was very impressed with the whole experience which is far superior than other hotel chains, which may be cheaper, but I feel you get what you pay for.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NitetimeNeil Lovely room and even lovelier breakfast !
We stayed as a spontaneous one night stop over on our way back to Essex from a few days on the South Coast, not fancying three trips round the M25 in two days with plans to visit friends in West London on the Saturday. The location was perfect, but I had meant to book a Holiday Inn Express and in my rush to tick boxes online, didn't notice it was a Holiday Inn ... full stop ! However on our arrival the staff bent over backwards to smooth my error over and ensure that me and my nine year old got the internet access and big breakfast we both needed - and what a breakfast ! The duty manager couldn't do enough for us and pointed out all the restaurant's delights which we duly sampled - my son LOVED the pancake machine - resulting in an eating contest between the two of us (it turned out this guy was brought up in my hometown too!) Ahead of that we made full use of the large TV screen in the room, the spotless bathroom and two wonderfully comfy beds. A really good experience from start to finish, albeit a brief one and recommended for anyone in the same situation looking for a stress free stay to break a long journey on the way back from a good holiday...

Shaun and his fantastic team have been great over the past three months I have stayed here, nothing has been any trouble at all. Problem is I can't go to any other hotel without comparing to the customer service excellence I experience every time I am staying here!!
Chef, staff all share Shaun'a commitment to making your stay an experience second to none.
Cadie, Jo, Mat, Sushank and Demi always so happy!

Stayed in the Basingstoke Holiday Inn last week and had a very comfortable nights stay !
Room was upgraded to executive room which had plenty of space and a comfortable bed !
Shower and bath combined worked very well and both were used !
I ate in the hotels restaurant and had the Indian Buffet which was really good value and had great variety !
I did have a great deal on the room through my points but felt I would have paid more to stay had I not had the offer !
