The fact that the staff knew that they only had two relatively inexperienced staff in the kitchen did rather suggest that there was an management planning error. If the was a disaster recovery plan there was no sign of the situation being remedied by the time we finished eating.
The staff in attendance were very apologetic but clearly powerless to correct the situation.
We have stay here on several occasions when visiting relations in the area, and we will probably use other Holiday Inns, but I think it is unlikely that we will be using this Holiday Inn on future visits to Basingstoke.

Stayed at this hotel many times on business. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Pleasant bar area and restaurant. Town Centre is about 15 minute walk.
Sometimes a little expensive compared to other hotels in the area, but better standard than some - so you get what you pay for.
Change in high speed wifi policy is disappointing to me in that you have to pay extra.

Travelling on business and being an IHG rewards partner, I chose this hotel due to geographical closeness to my business meeting.
Service was excellent, aside from not being served tea/coffee at breakfast after waiting 15 minutes....
Room was terrible - clean enough but tired and very noisy. As a business traveller, I'm used to being disturbed by noise but this was another level. Seemed like any movement from people above or to the sides was amplified, no sound proofing at all.
Based on this, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone, which is a shame as the staff were extremely curteous and helpful.
