Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Missed the free morning breakfast The overall stay was fine. The room was clean and the desk staff was friendly. The shower was good and the bed was comfortable. Currently there is a detour for construction at the off ramp exit to the motel, but it is not a major issue. The big negative for us was that you had to pay $8.99 per person (3 in the party) for the buffet which was the same food as is offered FREE at other Holiday's. Of course a tip was still needed for the less then attentive service. While I have been a loyal Holiday Inn/Express customer for many years, I will most likely avoid the Beckley WV, location in the future. It's a shame since we usually stop at Beckley on our trips. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff and management should be proud of this achievement We needed to make an overnight stop on a long journey. Buckley was a convenient point. What a great surprise to find an immaculate hotel. Friendly staff and great facilities. Close to the interstate and a few eating places we chose to eat in and were not disappointed. This place is amongst the best Holiday Inns we have stayed in over four continents. Outstanding and worth a detour. Congratulations to management and staff for doing a great job. April 21, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by free breakfast ????? I was quoted a rate with or without breakfast for my double queen room when I checked in. The following morning, my family and I ate breakfast(self serve-limited buffet style)at the in house restaurant. When we were finished, the server told us she would "subtract the coupon and return". After some questioning, I was informed it was for two breakfasts and when I checked in I should have been told this. After understanding my frustrations, the staff was willing to credit me. When they realized I had paid cash for the two breakfasts, they said there was nothing they could do. It was a reasonable amount to pay for breakfast but I was mislead by the night staff. They should inform people better as to what you are paying for and/or receiving. MISLEAD April 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Clean! Just recently stayed at this location. I was very pleased with this hotel. The hotel was very clean, large spacious rooms, friendly staff, safe area, looks brand new, what more could you ask for? I would highly recommend this location. We did not eat at the restaurant, so I can't comment on that. Room service is offered and there was a menu in the room but we chose to eat elsewhere. There are a lot of eating choices to choose from in this area so that wasn't an issue. We typically stay at HI Express which offers a nice complimentary breakfast, but since there wasn't one in the area, we stayed here. Can't say we were disappointed, it was very nice. April 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent - As a HI Express should be Other than being just a little but hard to find as while I was pretty sure of the exit, there was no mention on the Interstate sign of a HI Express at the exit and hence, no directions when you take the exit ramp. Then you wind a little - but that is to be expected in WV. Everything solid when you get there though. Same average breakfast that is unfortunately sooooo consistent across the chain, but staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable enough. No problems staying here again. The lady at the desk was so nice, rooms smelled very new, everything was clean. And the BED WAS WONDERFUL. Went to breakfast next morning and it was nothing like hotel breakfast. It was good! They called about 1/2 hour after check in to make sure we were pleased with our room. The room was both quiet and very clean. We included breakfast with our room and we were very pleasantly surprised the high quality of the food. Our server, Sara, was very friendly, making sure we were happy with our meal. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor office ergo's This is the third Holiday Inn Express I've stayed at recently where the perfectly nice desk and perfectly nice chair are incompatible. Ever try working on a laptop when you can't get the chair adjusted high enough to type comfortably? My ergonomics were horrible, I had to take the cushion off the lounge chair and use it like a phone book. I'm 6'1" and long waisted, it's not my body. I know this sounds like a rant, but if I can't work in my room, almost everything else is inconsequential. The room was perfectly fine other than this #big# issue for me. February 9, 2014

Lobby and front desk staff were warm and accommodating. The free popcorn and coffee station are a welcome touch. Brand new menu is limited, but the food is delish! Room was spotless. Cleanest hotel bathroom I've ever seen. We will stay there when we return to Beckley. January 30, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable and very nice staff! We have stayed at the holiday in express and suites in Beckley 2 times now. The second time we drove to find it specifically because our first stay was so great. We never had a reservation, so we were a walk in military each time. The first time the room was extremely nice and clean. We were pleasantly surprised. The second time we stayed in a suite which was perfect for our 3 kids. We were able to put the baby in the suite part so she could sleep away from the tv and other distractions. Mark at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely stay again as we travel back and forth home. January 9, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel and pool - Not great restaurant We were greeted by very friendly and fast front desk people. The manager was visible and making sure the wait time was low. There was fresh coffee and popcorn when we arrived, very nice touch. There were plenty of luggage carts available. We ate dinner in the restaurant. We had to wait over 5 minutes to be seated, then we had to wait another 10-15 minutes to order. We had to wait around 20 minutes for our food. When it arrived, it was average at best. If you are looking for just the hotel - great stay. Recommend going elsewhere for food. January 5, 2014

We wanted to visit the Tamarack Centre on our way back from Myrtle Beach. The desk staff rang the centre to see if it was open (New Years Day) and found out the closing time. for us.
