Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by . . . fried eggs for breakfast I have nothing but praise for my stay. The reception was to its normal high standard. I was upgraded at no extra charge to executive. The room was the usual Holiday Inn high standard. The buffet breakfast was excellent, but was made perfect, when as I approached the buffet, Paul one of the waiters, recognised me from a previous stay and quickly produced two freshly fried eggs. All praise to Paul, but it only reflected the high standards you can expect from this hotel August 18, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Another of my favourite hotels Although this hotel is about 20 miles from my work place, I like to book in here because of the great 6500 bonus point package offer (best I've seen so far), and being close to M6 it is easy for me to get to work. Food is good (although a little more choice at dinner would be nice). Breakfast choice is excellent, I particularly like the Greek Yoghurt, which I haven't seen at any other holiday inn as yet. Some smoking rooms would be nice (other Holiday Inns such as Telford, Newport and Bradford to offer smoking rooms. August 15, 2014

I loved the way the staff treated everybody: What a fantastic job they're doing. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad experience Needs modernizing, with up-to-date furnishings and a toilet that works to be honest would prefer rooms check thorough before it has been booked out, also the steam room i found very dirty but love amount of steam it generates. I have stayed at other Holiday Inn and this was the worst! we specifically ask for a nice room with a nice view and the woman at the reception gave us the opposite! almost thought she did not like us. won't be staying there again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic staff and atmosphere As always it is a real pleasure to stay at this hotel. The staff are so warm and welcoming. Having been here on Business for some 30 weeks, it is almost like going home to a warm welcome. In the Restaurant, Lisa is excellent as is Jane at breakfast and a special mention to Jasmine who always has a smile on her face and is extremely good at her job. The reception staff are warm and welcoming as are the bar and lounge staff. All in all a wonderful place to relax and stay. August 10, 2014

We had chosen a family package with tickets to Cadbury World which were provided at the exact time we wanted them. The breakfast was lovely with the added bonus of a pancake making machine! We stayed in a family room, which had a large window so was light and airy. Bad Points: The sofa bed was very uncomfortable and gave a very bad nights sleep. Carpet in the room smelt. August 7, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value Stayed for one night, to break-up longer journey on holiday with children. The bed and breakfast rate booked proved to be excellent value. Room was clean & comfortable and staff were friendly. Only downside was cost of food and drink: although dinner was perfectly nice (good actually), portions were fairly modest and pretty expensive. I was also annoyed to note the service charge applied to our bill for eating in the restaurant, as there was no mention of this at any point until we'd checked out - & had to request an itemised breakdown - so felt this was completely unjustified. It is VFM, well placed for moving around the midlands and on a main bus route when we are not using the car. The staff are friendly and welcoming and it has our most important facility - a swimming pool. An excellent place to rest your head. July 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by needs a refresh in the rooms Quiet rooms with a comfortable bed. Clean bathroom with good shower. Rest of furniture in room was a somewhat dated and past its best (threadbare arms and stains on chairs, chipped tables), need to finish the modernization process. First room I was given had a large wet patch in the carpet. I was re-roomed quickly and without fuss, but rooms in need of repair should not be being let out. I thought the price for breakfast was a bit much so opted for a local supermarket. Check-in and out was quick and easy, and the staff I encountered friendly. July 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Despite occasional problems a reasonable Hotel This is a reasonably priced Holiday Inn. They always recognize group membership. Rooms are cleaned to a good standard. The swimming pool area looks tired and could do with refurbishment. Fitness room is small tried to use a couple of times but all equipment in use. Restaurant okay. One nice touch is that there is often a snack and a drink available in the reception area when returning to the Hotel in the early evening, or coffee in the morning. July 29, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Had to request a room change I had a very noisy family with young children above me who never stopped making a noise. After several hours of this I rang Reception and was immediately offered a much more acceptanle room which was excellent. Upon booking in I informed the Reception staff that I was confused as to why. I could not be credited with the points. I stated that Customer Services had said it was because it was a group booking but the staff said they often had bookings for businessmen and didn't know why I was exempt. My husband went to Florida courtesy of the Army on a block booking with several other members of the team on many many times and was always creditted with the points so I cannot see the difference and am very unimpressed with the attitude of IHG over this matter! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location and surprisingly quiet The hotel is in a good location and surprisingly quiet. Swimming pool and Jacuzzi are good. As I am Gold IHT rewards club member, we were given free drinks vouchers on arrival. We had a special signing in sheet and the staff gave us a special welcome as members. They were also serving free drinks and hot chicken bites in the reception area when we arrived so we did well that evening! We did not eat at the hotel apart from breakfast, which was okay but the range of food was not as good as at some hotels I have stayed in. I had booked an executive room and on the website it stated that bathrobe and slippers would be provided. These were not available. When I talked to the general manager about this, he was very apologetic and offered to give me some reward points which I was very satisfied with. The manager said they had never given slippers, so I said the website needed amending. Overall it was a good hotel to stay in. July 22, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Let down by the eggs I have only good things to say about my stay here, with the exception of the eggs at breakfast. For something as simple as frying an egg, the kitchen fails miserably. I was presented with a whole tray of fried eggs, perhaps 10-15 of the one eyed monsters . . . and there was not one that did not have the texture of a frisbee . . . the whites were leathery . . .the yolks were solid . . . the eggs had not been basted and the uncooked white covering the yolks had been baked to the texture of polythene by the hotplate lamps! Come on guys, frying an egg ain't difficult . . . it may not measure very highly in the grand scale of things . . . but a decent fried egg is an important part of a full english brekkie! During breakfast we found that getting the attention of staff a little difficult but once we were noticed they were helpful. All in all a great stay. Thank you. Will be back July 10, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff The staff make this hotel. Lisa in the restaurant is a credit to the hotel and runs the restaurant with true professionalism. She is attentive, polite and an ambassador to the hotel. Chris Butler can not do enough for the guests and is also a credit to the hotel. Sonya at the front desk is always welcoming, polite and extremely helpful as are the bar staff, Mario, Gabriel, Ben, Matthew and the rest of the team. I would always recommend this hotel due to the excellent, professional service of the staff. They should all be commended on their professionalism. July 8, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor night's sleep Mattress extremely uncomfortable with dip in middle. Advised staff. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn't change rooms. We were offered extra pillows and duvets to put on the bed. We were travelling from Scotland to Cornwall and stopped here for rest. Will not be using this hotel again. July 8, 2014

This hotel would be OK for anyone passing through, but for a longer stay I have my doubts, It was adequate in most respects but their pricing policy was a shambles and very poorly explained when encountered. The meals were disappointing and the time delays were too long. More attention is needed on the issue of Gluten intolerance in items available, The room we used had a non-operative shower and we had to ask for the spare bed to be made up despite the fact that we had booked the room for three people. Only two mugs were provided for making tea/coffee. Niggly little things that ought to be noticed. July 6, 2014
