Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great room, fabulous banquet We stayed here as part of a reunion/banquet booked at the hotel. Having previously stayed at this location when it belonged to another chain, we were pleasantly surprised by all the upgrades & improvements made to the property. Our room was recently remodeled & clean. At our banquet, the food was exceptionally good. In fact several people complimented the high quality...not something you typically hear about a banquet. The staff was helpful, courteous, & friendly to all of the banquet guests. Angela & Leigh in sales were professional & helpful & easy to work with. All in all, we had an outstanding experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easter weekend My husband and I travelled to Blacksburg over the Easter weekend to visit our son, a VT student. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was spacious, spotless and the bed was so comfortable I hated to get up in the morning. It was nice to sit in a comfortable chair to watch TV instead of sitting on the bed. Staff was personable and so helpful with requests and questions. Several employees went out of their way to help me get coffee when the coffee pots were empty and to give information about the area. This property is an ideal location, close to Panera for breakfast and CVS and Kroger. All within walking distance. we always try to stay at this location when visiting Blacksburg. The manager on duty and the young woman at the front desk on Easter Sunday were especially helpful. Thank you. April 5, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My stay at the Holiday Inn University at Blacksburg was OUTSTANDING!!!! My trip to Virginia was for business but it was so easy to "leave work at the [hotel room] door" when I arrived to my room at the Holiday Inn University at Blacksburg. First impression was being greeted with a smile and answers to all my questions that I hadn't even blurted out yet. Every staff member was no different - very courteous, never make you wait and follow through with all requests. The room was immaculate, full of fresh linens, coffee for the morning, Bath and Body Works hygiene products and outlets galore!!! The services this hotel offered matched other hotels and then added a little more like free cable, high speed internet, cordless phones, built in outlets on the night stands, desk and counters. During a conversation I had with a fellow hotel guest, he explained how this hotel is much different to other Holiday Inns such as no elevator and the foreign layout of the rooms, restaurant, bar, etc. Additionally, the biggest difference between this Holiday Inn and ANY hotel for that matter was that it felt like a true home away from home. I couldn't agree more...well except my hotel room was much more luxurious in look and comfort, compared to my own residence. March 22, 2013

The hotel has a great location, the shuttle service was really helpful, food was great and all the staff is very friendly and courteous. they truly made us feel like home in our very special visit to Blacksburg. While staying at Holiday Inn in Blacksburg Va. i could not have ask for better treatment,the staff treated me like family.My room was perfect and the restaurant and lounge were great. The staff is always very friendly, professional and accommodating. They go out of their way to ensure I have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.. The rooms are spacious and clean. The location is unbeatable, close to campus and downtown. This is my home away from home in Blacksburg. I would highly recommend this hotel to my business associates, friends and family. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Blacksburg Holiday Inn So I booked a one night stay with my Priority Club points, but rewarding it was not. Upon check-in to my hotel I found that there was the scrap end of a roll of toilet paper and no extra rolls. I called the front desk to notify them and then left the room to catch a cab. While in the lobby they said "Here is the toilet paper", but wouldn't go deliver it to my room. Instead they said that they would leave it at the front desk and I could pick it up when I returned. How lazy is that? Also my room had a mini-fridge, which is convenient, but not when it has leftover items from the previous guest. I was surprised to find a partial gallon of milk, maybe Holiday Inn was worried about me not getting my daily recommended serving of calcium? In either case, housekeeping failed to properly clear and restock the room and the front desk could have been a little more helpful. Other than that I had a decent stay, but the experience was rather disappointing. January 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience. I've been to this hotel a handful of times. Every time has been a great experience. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I asked a lady at the front desk where I could get silverware to bring up to my room and, without asking, she went out of her way to get them from the restaurant attached to the hotel for me. It really says a lot about how far the staff will go to ensure comfort for their guests. The only problem I had was, when I got home I had an random extra charge to my credit card. But when I called, they assured me it would disappear in a few days - which it did. Best part of the stay is location, location, location. Right next to VT! Highly recommended! January 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best Location!!! Holiday Inn is the ONLY hotel right next to the campus. We drive in before a game, park our car and don't drive again until we leave. The shuttle takes us to Lane Stadium and returns through-out the game to pick us up again. The Inn offers a great tailgate before or after the game and, yes, the shuttle will take you there! The shuttle will also pick us up at the airport or drive us to town or restaurants. And yes, the beds are comfy, the folks are extra friendly and the food is really good. And, there are suites for those lucky enough to be staying a few extra days. January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Hotel in Blacksburg! This hotel is absolutely lovely! The service was amazing; the staff were friendly and did whatever they could to make our stay perfect. There is free in-room wireless and hard wired high-speed internet access, electrical plugs everywhere (even in the night stands) and every counter top is marble! The location is brilliant, right across the street from Virginia Tech in the heart of Blacksburg. The restaurant attached had great food, which also caters the room service. I have stayed in several Blacksburg hotels and the Holiday Inn's amenities and rooms far exceed their VT neighbor's hotel across the street! It is the perfect hotel in Blacksburg, whether visiting the university or just getting-a-way. Highly Recommend! January 22, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't stay here unless you want a low price in old hotel I stay about 70 nights per year in various hotel chains including Holiday Inn. This one is substandard. Hotel was old, cold (in December). Wifi service was spotty at best. Coffee dispensers in lobby were empty at 8am in the morning. Staff was friendly and doing the best they could with what they had. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Hotel Wonderful Friendly Service and VERY comfortable CLEAN room. The Front Desk Manager (Robin) was professionally friendly as were her associates. Noted the employees work as a team. Its a pleasure to be so warmly welcomed after a long day on the road. All our requests were honored . The room was very clean updated, awesome comfortable king bed. extra blanket, towels, bottled water and nice large flat screen TV and WiFi. We were very impressed with the host at the restaurant during breakfast hour. He was very attentive and accommodating with our to go order. Major points here as I'm a foodie. The server payed attention to detail to make sure my order was right. Having high standards I have NO complaints about the Holiday Inn in Blacksburg Va. It is the only hotel we will stay at from now on when we visit Blacksburg. Many thanks to the staff at this Holiday Inn for making us feel like quests. Were coming back. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Multiple Service Failures We recently stayed in this hotel over the thanksgiving holiday. Unfortunately the staff did not seem to meet expectations. 1) When checking in there was no recognition of being a platinum ambassador. No bottles of water just sign and here's your keys. 2) Bathroom door had a very strong spring, could only hold it open with the iron on the floor 3) No place to hang any towels near the sink. 4) Went for breakfast in their restaurant. Waitress was nice, and we didn't have the heart to complain to her but: a) Other Waitstaff were cleaning the warmers and making loud crashing with the lids not just once, but at least 4 times during our breakfast b) Waffle seemed like it had been under a warmer for hours c) Staff couldn't change TV in dining room to the Thanksgiving day parade although all in there wanted that instead of ESPN Was just not expecting such poor treatment of guests overall from what I was seeing. I am usually very happy with this chain but this was a definite letdown. November 28, 2012

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No recognition for platinum member. Upon arrival I was informed that they upgraded my room but the new room had a smaller bed. That was a down grade to me but they couldn't change my room back to what I reserved. I wasn't recognized as a priority club platinum member and had to ask for the usually complimentary bottle of water after telling them I was platinum. I was told "we don't have water here, that is why we have vending machines." I found that to be very rude. As a note; I have stayed at this hotel at least 10 time in the past few years and it is normally a 3 star on overall experience. November 18, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome HI close to campus. I was visiting Blacksburg for business during the week and the hotel was terrific. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The shuttle to campus in the morning was perfect for my meeting. The executive suite I was in on the first floor was very clean, spacious and all amenities comfortable. The only complaint I had was I was right next to the fitness room and someone had turned up the TV very loud and it was left like this all night, I thought someone from the staff may have noticed and turned it down or off since no one was in there. The restaurant was good and service very nice, I only visited the bar area. This will be my preferred stay for any business at VT in the future, I only wish I could get a room on football weekends, but as nice as this hotel is I'm sure it's in high demand for those weekends. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and nice amenities It was a good experience overall and had nice amenities while traveling with our older parents. Close to the school and downtown Blacksburg. The staff was friendly and efficient except for the loud parties in the hallways at night. The first night was great, but the second was agravating due to the other guests who were loud and abnoxious. I finally called the front desk at almost midnight and it quieted for a time, but continual outbursts made it difficult to sleep and we had an early start the next morning due to a seven hour drive home. I thought the staff should have been enforcing quiet time better for that hour at night as it did not end until after 3 AM. Made for an less than desirable nights sleep even with the comfy bed. Also, please offer hot water and tea bags at the front desk, some folks would like hot tea instead of coffee. Rest of stay was great and loved the room. We'll be back and hopefully there won't be any weddings next time... October 13, 2012
