Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Must try harder Heating had broken down in Bar / Restaurant area. I had to keep my coat on during dinner which was a bought in and heated up Pizza. Breakfast was a joke as they ran out of food. The fitness centre was off limits due to unfortunate circumstances....what ever that means The room was OK though. This could be a good hotel but sadly the guys in charge don't seem to care. January 24, 2015

Staff very efficient and helpful rooms well kept and clean breakfast good nice bright dining room, would certainly stay again if I need to go to Bolton in the future. January 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff, Cold Stay Have been to this Hotel a few times and staff cannot be faulted, all friendly and courteous. The restaurant is nice to eat in, but perhaps not every night if you like a change of scene. Room Service is good. Rooms, Beds all clean. Sadly when we stayed the heating and hot water was broken for 2 days, and it was quite cold, given snow was outside. A complimentary drinks voucher was posted through door for one drink between 2 people, which we thought silly and didnt realise until we had to pay the additional cost of the 2nd drink. I would come back here as overall the hotel is central, usually comfortable and staff are lovely, but the heating issues need fixed and perhaps 2 hot chocolates rather than a single drink token might have been better. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Generally Good In general this was a great hotel. Clean and comfortable. The only problem we had was from the noise from the function room. We were specifically placed in a room to fit in the cot for our baby and it turned out that we were right above the function room. We might as well have been in the function room and it was a terrible night as it was impossible to settle the our baby and we figured it would be more disturbing for him if we changed rooms. The irony was that it was a staff party! They did assure us that they normally don't put children in that room which was of little comfort! January 18, 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Excessive noise Away with freinds for a long weekend. Alloacted Room 129 on the first night. It was dark by the time we arrived on the first day. Unpacked and had dinner in the hotel - nice food but choice limited. On returning to room found there was a function on in the function room so had to listen to blaring music till the early hours. When that finally stopped noise was replaced by a mechanical humming noise. In the end we gave up trying to sleep and were out having a walk around Bolton at 0700. Returned for breakfast - good choice. Complained re noise at front counter who advised they would try and find a new room for us but made no promises. Went up to the room and pulled back the curtains to find the only view we had was of a large air conditioning unit and a bank of small air conditioning units - source of the noise! Went out for the day feeling rather jaded. On coming back were told we now had a room on fourth floor - much quiter and a view!! January 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brilliant staff, lovely big room, pool not so great. Had a lovely relaxing stay. Staff were very friendly, courteous and professional. Breakfast was gorgeous. Swimming pool water was a bit murky and only 1 shower out of three was working in the mens changing room. I'd stay there again. January 12, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by i am not in a rush to go back lets start with the car park. at least there is one. under the hotel squeezed in like sardines between the concrete pillars that keep the hotel standing.not sure how many people have scratches on their car from other guests squeezing in or from having to squeeze in them-self but would think there is a few including me with somebody parking too close ( after i had parked right in the corner app 2 inches from a wall )pleasant at reception and recognized as platinum ihg member.room was on 1st floor on side of building at very end of corridor with a view of a great big air conditioning unit less than 10ft from my window. room was very dated and the cleanliness of the carpets left a lot to be desired with big dirty marks spotted all around. a hole in the bedroom wall where someone had hit it with something and mold in the corner of the bathroom next to the extractor fan.not to mention the plaster coming off the ceiling. the carpets i decided to live with but didnt see the issues with the bathroom till during the night by which time i wasn't going to ask for a move. the worst of all was the swimming pool and related " facilities ". the mini gym had broken equipment in it and the equipment was very dated. the floor in the male changing area had cotton buds, paper tissue, orange peel, a discarded disposable razor and various other bits of rubbish all over it. only 1 of the 3 showers worked ( 1 of the 2 not working had a screw in the base of the on/off unit ).the bags for your wet swimming kit were empty and the bin was fool. there is a sign on the wall at the pool for sauna and solarium but there was no solarium and the sauna reached a high of 65. when i complained about the " facilities " i got an apology and was told that as it was the 7/1/15 no one had as yet come out to fix the issues in the gym. they didnt even know about the showers despite a gym member telling me they had been like that on and off for weeks. breakfast was fine with a good selection and tables cleared promptly. check out was fast and efficient. not enough to save it however, i wont be back to this particular hotel despite being platinum ihg member. very disappointed.
