Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by car parking fees I have stayed with you several times in the last year or so and was amazed at the introduction of a car parking fee. This is not acceptable. I understand you have a problem with non residents abusing the car parking facilities instead of using the long term parking in the airport. Your solution to penalize the guests is quite simply bonkers! Try clamping non residents / guests instead. I feel quite strongly about this to the point I may move to an alternative hotel. Its not the few pounds , but rather the principle. Please do not punish your customers ! Time now for you to rethink how you solve the abuse of the carpark! November 7, 2013

Bathroom very practical with plenty of place for personal affairs and good safety installation: non-slip surface in shower/bath, handles to secure getting in and out of shower/bath - these were lacking in several hotels we used in recent travels and I particularly appreciated them here. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not quite up to spec My wife and I stayed over at this Holiday Inn as we were attending a wedding nearby. While the hotel seemed nice and clean, there were a few negative points: 1) The first room we were given had a strong smell of damp/mould and was not fit for a nights stay. The front desk staff quickly re-allocated us a room, and they were very quick and professional about it. 2) The room we were subsequently given seemed OK, but had a number of dead flies on the window sill, as well as more (living) flies buzzing around. I have no idea why there were so many, and could have overlooked one or 2, but there were enough to make a nuisance and I would have thought that the hotel would endeavour to get rid of them. Speaking to friends who were also staying at the hotel, they had a similar situation. 3) Room Service was slow. We ordered 2 sandwiches with 45 minutes to spare to get to the wedding. Eventually we had to cancel the order as it hadn't turned up yet, despite calling to enquire how long it would be and where the food was. Overall, I stay in many Holiday Inn hotels for work, and was left feeling very disappointed by this one, as the standard is not at all what I have come to expect. October 31, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No service at restaurant At 6.30 with only 2 people in the restaurant and 3 staff present in the restaurant, I was told to come back in half an hour (at 7.00) as they were expecting 9 guest who had pre-booked for 6.30 and when they would arrive it would be not possible to serve other customers. A couple behind me were told the same story. With no options in the immediate neighborhood i ate in the bar area. October 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable room; Employees helpful; food good This is an excellent hotel if to stay for a night before you fly out of the Bristol Airport. They have a airport shuttle and it is on about 10 minutes from the airport. It is not a good hotel for being a tourist in England. It is out in the middle of nowhere and I did not have car. There was public transportation to go most anywhere you wanted to go. The shuttle took me to airport and a bus took me into Bristol one of the three days I was there. I like to walk for exercise. The road in front of the hotel is very busy and very dangerous to walk on. The hotel did have a treadmill, which I used one time, but I prefer to walk outside. Everyone at the front desk was helpful. The lady on 3rd shift, I think her name was Debbie, was very helpful with public transportation information and other things I did not understand about England. I had so much contact with the 3rd shift person because my sleep was messed up all week because of jet lag. I am back home now and my sleep is still screwed up. The food was very good at the hotel restaurant. I was able to get breakfast very early in the morning. I think this hotel was intended for people that have flights out of Bristol and it is excellent for that purpose. I tried to use this hotel for purposes it was not intended. We received a very warm welcome.Our room with twin beds was excellent,everything was there that we would need.The beds were comfortable and the room felt light and airy. We thoroughly enjoyed an excellent breakfast with a great choice of food and again the service was very good. We booked for two nights and so ate in both the lounge and the restaurant,both had a great choice of meals and the service was friendly and quick.The hotel is in the perfect location as so near the airport. I would highly recommend the hotel and will most certainly book in again. October 16, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A great place to return to after a trip Having landed back at Bristol at 11pm it was a relief to know that there was a shuttle on its way to pick me up and then within minutes I was in the comfort of the hotel and ready for a good nights sleep. Having previously dropped the car off a couple of days before the duty manager could not have been more helpful as there was parking for me and he made every effort to ensure it was going to be a smooth and pleasant stop. The charge for the parking, and breakfast were both nominal and hence excellent value. Breakfast the following morning was very well presented and a great choice was on offer meaning that I was fully refreshed and ready for the day ahead. It could not have been a better trip all round and I look forward to the next time I am able to use Holiday Inn Bristol airport for a business trip. September 25, 2013

I do not expect to arrive at a hotel after a long journey to see a message to say we are sorry but the carpark is full and we should park in the airport carpark, at cost, and take 4 buses to and from the car. To add to the insult at least a third of the cars in the carpark had tickets on them showing that they were in carpark for duration of the occupants trip away. I double parked and blocked 2 cars in as I was leaving at 4am the next day but will think twice about using this hotel on my next trip. The building works took up 3 spaces at most and was made up for 10 + cars on verges, footpaths etc. September 17, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent facilities; great menu; too small a car park Enjoyed brief stay here; staff attentive and efficient and complimentary glass of wine voucher very welcome. Only downside was the limited parking partly due to minor building works but mostly to prepaid residents who had left their vehicles at the hotel while away. This left no room for people on a brief stay to park in a designated bay: not great after a long journey to reach here. Otherwise, would thoroughly recommend. September 3, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A calamity I booked two rooms for Saturday 24/08/13. One room was a room for two with a double bed and the second a room for two with two single beds. I received a call late morning on Saturday and was informed by a very polite gentleman that the room with the double bed does not have a bath but instead has a "walk in shower" - I didn't mind so I said that was not a problem. On arrival the receptionists were very polite and helpful and I was informed I had complementary breakfast for which I was to find out later why this had been given. The room with the twin beds was fine and up to the holiday inn standard I have been used to but the room with the walk in shower turned out to be a room for people with disabilities and instead of a double bed they had pushed to single beds together. My wife insisted that we complain but I reminded her of the complimentary breakfast and said we can cope with it for one night. So my wife slept with the baby on one bed and I slept on the other. We managed to set of the panic alarm (meant for people with disabilities) several times as we kept confusing it with the light switch for the bathroom. So we had to keep calling reception to tell them it was a mistake. Whilst using the toilet I was appalled to find there were faeces smeared on the outside of the toilet bowl. I then called to complain about this and someone was sent up to clean the toilet. At this point I didn't think anything else could go wrong. Well, I was wrong. We woke up in the morning to go and have breakfast and everyone in the dining hall was disappointed by the presentation as the mushrooms were burnt, the scrambled eggs were like soggy like oats and utensils seemed to be nowhere to be found. When we went to check out were told we had a bill for the breakfast we ate and it was billed to both rooms. My wife lost it at this point and told the receptionist that we weren't going to pay for it because we had been told its complementary for being put in an unsuitable room. However, my niece and daughter reported that they had no problems with their room and despite a night of horror the ALL the staff were very professional and polite. August 28, 2013

The bedroom was clean and modern with all the facililities you would expect from a branded hotel. The restaurant was ideal to get a quick bite to eat with a good selections on the menu, also the hotel have a outdoor beer garden, which was ideal for the hot weather we had. Overall highly recommended and will definately return August 26, 2013

Make sure you book in time. We ate in a pub nearby (The Plough) and had a great meal. The staff at reception recommended it kindly, because the restaurant was very full with a tour group. The hotel is a bit expensive but guess as the only hotel near the airport, they know their position. August 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient for the Airport Late decision to use this hotel for a relatively early flight the next day. No fridge in the room and ice bucket was not working on our floor. Room comfortable and good aircon. Dining experience was poor. It took over an hour (1hr & 10 mins) for the main course to arrive and waitress had the nerve to tell my she had already added on the tip of 10%. Overall OK for the room and price was satisfactory but avoid the restaurant. Car parking and pick up were very good. August 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room...not so good service in the restaurant Was staying with my 83 year old mother, and 35 year old a range of ages to judge things. Room, checkin, checkout: all excellent. The restaurant was a disappointment. At dinner, there was one waitress who was abrupt, and seemd to be in a terrible hurry all the time. For example, we had placed our dessert order with another waitress, then the hurried one came along a few minutes later, asking what we had ordered ' so she could sort out the cutlery', which in turn was plonked in front of us, sloppily and noisily. She could have found out quite easily by checking with the first waitress - or the first waitress could have done the cutlery - either way it could have been done much better. The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful; but the carpet under the tables was still dirty, with crumbs and food on it - presumably from the night before, as we ate breakfast before 7am. SO: great hotel for comfort: not so good for restaurant service. The bar staff were fine. August 1, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They're trying hard to improve, which is important I booked this hotel on points as I needed a quick place to rest my head while on holiday. I read the negative reviews before hand so I wasn't expecting much. As a platinum member I was expecting the usual Executive Room upgrade, but instead I was booked into a Smoking Room! I immediately complained as I'm a non-smoker, but was told it was the only available room. As previous comments have stated there's no way of opening the windows and the AC just recirculates the air so I had a terrible night with the constant smell of stale cigarettes lingering around me. However, I did notice the staff were VERY understanding and helpful and I truly got the impression they're working hard to improve standards. In the restaurant the food was the standard HI quality, but the staff worked hard to meet my every request and service was quick. I overheard a diner complain rudely about their food and the waiter humbly apologised and replaced the meal - after the waiter had left I overheard the diners say the food was much better - why the diners couldn't give the compliment to the waiter, I don't know? Some people just don't have any manners. Finally, when I checked out the hotel refunded my priority points - without me asking. I think that's a lovely gesture and shows they're working very hard to satisfy customer expectations. I'm a corporate customer who spend and incredibly amount of time in hotels, so I know what the standard of HI customer service is and I think the customer service in this particular HI is one of the best I've experienced. I get the impression the hotel is on the right tracks so I'd like to say well done I would recommend this hotel. July 18, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 good hotel, good food but wait, pillows !!! excellent clean hotel and restful, countryside ambience and gratis chilled drink on arrival food service a little slow, order your food at order of first drink, you will be probably 3 down by time food arrives but well worth the wait. - got the message? Be careful to check the al a carte menu in the hotel entrance it was not obvious in tha bar area where snacks are pushed. I stayed on a Wednesday night and new staff training inprogress i was happy withe the trainees and impressed by the hands on training staff supervising. my only drawback is the mattress was too soft and given a choice of soft and medium/firm pillows on the twin beds we had neither of us were comfortable, a couple of good medium pillows would be better, the problem was that the pillows supplied were too thin. Car parking a little worrying it seemed that first come first served and could be that if you turn up late there may not be a guaranteed space for the night let alone if you are planning leaving the car for a trip away. On line boookers should be given a numbered and guaranteed space, you are paying for it! Hotel-airport shuttle service exccellent I will be staying here again but i have learned a little after 2 visits in the last 9 months and may have to bring my own pillows unless things change but i would still prefer Holiday Inn Bristol Airport to some of the other establishments in the area!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly welcome and comfortable room Hotel very close to Bristol Airport, no airport noise though. Very friendly welcome even though it was late at night. Room clean, well equipped and comfortable. Only downside was that breakfast wasn't included. I paid for a full cooked breakfast which had a good range but afterwards I wished I'd just chosen the continental breakfast as it was very generous and seemed fresher. July 6, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't make the mistake of eating in the restaurant We were contacted the night before our booking to ask if we would like to have a table reserved in the restaurant. As we felt this would save time searching the area for an eatery we accepted. Big mistake! The first course of Pate came with two miniscule pieces of bread with which to eat quite a slab of pate, so unless you are in the habit of eating pate 'neat' this was ridiculous. For our second course we both chose the chicken fillet which was with rice and seasonal vegetables. The chicken and rice although tasteless and overcooked were at least edible but the vegetables which comprised carrots, broccoli and cauliflower were a disgrace. My knife would not cut through the cauliflower, floret nor stalk and the other veg was as bad. subsequently we left the whole dish of veg. As the waitress cleared the table I asked her to stop while I commented on the veg and almost before I had time to speak she presumed we were leaving it because it was hard. My reply to her was " Hard, if I threw it at your window it would go straight through ". she offered no apology and did not enquire as to there being anything she could do to put it right. Later we went to reception to settle the bill for the meal and on our online booking confirmation we had been told that we would be entitled to a free drink if we ate in the restaurant, The receptionist knew nothing about this, said we should take it up with the restaurant or could we go to the room and get the booking form. By this time we had had enough and just paid. its got to be the worst £49 we have ever spent on a meal, £9 would have been too much. Appalling! Then to add insult to injury when we got to the room, by now 10.30 pm, we found that the hot water merely dribbled from the tap and my husband had to shave in cold water the next morning. Altogether absolutely atrocious... June 9, 2013
