Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great room...not so good service in the restaurant Was staying with my 83 year old mother, and 35 year old son...so a range of ages to judge things. Room, checkin, checkout: all excellent. The restaurant was a disappointment. At dinner, there was one waitress who was abrupt, and seemd to be in a terrible hurry all the time. For example, we had placed our dessert order with another waitress, then the hurried one came along a few minutes later, asking what we had ordered ' so she could sort out the cutlery', which in turn was plonked in front of us, sloppily and noisily. She could have found out quite easily by checking with the first waitress - or the first waitress could have done the cutlery - either way it could have been done much better. The breakfast staff were friendly and helpful; but the carpet under the tables was still dirty, with crumbs and food on it - presumably from the night before, as we ate breakfast before 7am. SO: great hotel for comfort: not so good for restaurant service. The bar staff were fine. August 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Very Good Hotel A very good hotel, conveniently situated and having own shuttle bus from and to the airport. Recommended for all seeking a calm night before or after the flight. July 28, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by They're trying hard to improve, which is important I booked this hotel on points as I needed a quick place to rest my head while on holiday. I read the negative reviews before hand so I wasn't expecting much. As a platinum member I was expecting the usual Executive Room upgrade, but instead I was booked into a Smoking Room! I immediately complained as I'm a non-smoker, but was told it was the only available room. As previous comments have stated there's no way of opening the windows and the AC just recirculates the air so I had a terrible night with the constant smell of stale cigarettes lingering around me. However, I did notice the staff were VERY understanding and helpful and I truly got the impression they're working hard to improve standards. In the restaurant the food was the standard HI quality, but the staff worked hard to meet my every request and service was quick. I overheard a diner complain rudely about their food and the waiter humbly apologised and replaced the meal - after the waiter had left I overheard the diners say the food was much better - why the diners couldn't give the compliment to the waiter, I don't know? Some people just don't have any manners. Finally, when I checked out the hotel refunded my priority points - without me asking. I think that's a lovely gesture and shows they're working very hard to satisfy customer expectations. I'm a corporate customer who spend and incredibly amount of time in hotels, so I know what the standard of HI customer service is and I think the customer service in this particular HI is one of the best I've experienced. I get the impression the hotel is on the right tracks so I'd like to say well done I would recommend this hotel. July 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by One night stay The room was comfortable though in spite of the choice of pillows I found it difficult to be comfortable with either - not really bouncy enough. My daughter and I are both rather fresh air fiends and it would be good if there was an option of opening the window instead of having to have the air conditioning on all night. July 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Stop Off Essential Ideal for Bristol Airport in a hurry and the locality if you want to browse. Very pleasant staff and all keen to assist without embarrassing familiarity - a good team. July 13, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 good hotel, good food but wait, pillows !!! excellent clean hotel and restful, countryside ambience and gratis chilled drink on arrival food service a little slow, order your food at order of first drink, you will be probably 3 down by time food arrives but well worth the wait. - got the message? Be careful to check the al a carte menu in the hotel entrance it was not obvious in tha bar area where snacks are pushed. I stayed on a Wednesday night and new staff training inprogress i was happy withe the trainees and impressed by the hands on training staff supervising. my only drawback is the mattress was too soft and given a choice of soft and medium/firm pillows on the twin beds we had neither of us were comfortable, a couple of good medium pillows would be better, the problem was that the pillows supplied were too thin. Car parking a little worrying it seemed that first come first served and could be that if you turn up late there may not be a guaranteed space for the night let alone if you are planning leaving the car for a trip away. On line boookers should be given a numbered and guaranteed space, you are paying for it! Hotel-airport shuttle service exccellent I will be staying here again but i have learned a little after 2 visits in the last 9 months and may have to bring my own pillows unless things change but i would still prefer Holiday Inn Bristol Airport to some of the other establishments in the area!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by June 23rd 2013 Reception, bar and shuttle staff, were excellent. My ONLY criticism of this establishment was that the restaurant food was not worthy of the prices charged. We should have just had a bar meal! July 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly welcome and comfortable room Hotel very close to Bristol Airport, no airport noise though. Very friendly welcome even though it was late at night. Room clean, well equipped and comfortable. Only downside was that breakfast wasn't included. I paid for a full cooked breakfast which had a good range but afterwards I wished I'd just chosen the continental breakfast as it was very generous and seemed fresher. July 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great start to our holiday This hotel provided a perfect start to our holiday.the staff were excellent. The room was better than I have experienced in much costlier hotels. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable which was a bit of a worry as I had a very early start and didn't want to get up. The food in the dinning room was very good. June 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed Diappointed with the breakfast experience. There were not enough staff on duty to keep supplies topped up or show us where everything was. The only female member of staff on duty was very helpful and obviously struggling to cope. June 20, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't make the mistake of eating in the restaurant We were contacted the night before our booking to ask if we would like to have a table reserved in the restaurant. As we felt this would save time searching the area for an eatery we accepted. Big mistake! The first course of Pate came with two miniscule pieces of bread with which to eat quite a slab of pate, so unless you are in the habit of eating pate 'neat' this was ridiculous. For our second course we both chose the chicken fillet which was with rice and seasonal vegetables. The chicken and rice although tasteless and overcooked were at least edible but the vegetables which comprised carrots, broccoli and cauliflower were a disgrace. My knife would not cut through the cauliflower, floret nor stalk and the other veg was as bad. subsequently we left the whole dish of veg. As the waitress cleared the table I asked her to stop while I commented on the veg and almost before I had time to speak she presumed we were leaving it because it was hard. My reply to her was " Hard, if I threw it at your window it would go straight through ". she offered no apology and did not enquire as to there being anything she could do to put it right. Later we went to reception to settle the bill for the meal and on our online booking confirmation we had been told that we would be entitled to a free drink if we ate in the restaurant, The receptionist knew nothing about this, said we should take it up with the restaurant or could we go to the room and get the booking form. By this time we had had enough and just paid. its got to be the worst £49 we have ever spent on a meal, £9 would have been too much. Appalling! Then to add insult to injury when we got to the room, by now 10.30 pm, we found that the hot water merely dribbled from the tap and my husband had to shave in cold water the next morning. Altogether absolutely atrocious... June 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Visit 30th May2013 If we had previous knowledge of this hotel we would have stayed longer. We have seldom met such friendly and helpful staff .The restaurant and bar area are very light and airy, the food is very good and bar prices reasonable. the Bedroom was immaculately turned out. Our only gripe was the pillows which were thin and hard, otherwise 5 stars.. June 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HI 38 Handy for Bristol Airport and the best part is that the shuttle bus runs 24 hours. Quiet location but nothing around the hotel. the nearest village is a mile away. A late breakfast could mean a dried up cooked affair. Friendly staff. June 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by An excellent airport stop over. We used the stay, park and lift to and from the airport that this hotel offers. The car park was full when we arrived on 24th May, but the Receptionist immediately moved her car for us. The staff were excellent, especially the gentleman who was behind the bar that night and then there the next morning at breakfast. Jean the breakfast lady could not have been more friendly or helpful. The room was clean and pleasant and the transport to and from the airport prompt and efficient. Well done! June 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Overnight stay that exceeded expectations. We were greeted in the early hours by a charming and considerate Receptionist. She made sure that everything we wanted was explained. I cannot fault the room in any way and the bed was wonderful - it took all the kinks out of an almost five hours. The Breakfast was first class and the service impeccable. Congratulations to your Hotel on my first visit - not my last. Simple Country Boy!!! May 28, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Waiting and waiting and waiting for shuttle bus! Hotel absolutely fine - no problems whatever. However, when arriving back at the airport after a weekend break, I phoned the hotel and was told the hotel shuttle bus would be with us in 15 minutes. 25 minutes later I phoned the hotel to enquire as to delay. Driver eventually arrived nearly 1 hour late - not impressed !!!!! May 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Business Traveler, early flight Location - Brilliant, 10 mins or less on courtesy bus to Bristol Airport. Parking - very busy, probably due to building works sectioning off some spaces (May 2013) - be creative...up on kerbs etc. Check in - brisk and polite. Room - bigger than expected, spotlessly clean and tidy, a real surprise. Bed - a special mention - sooooo comfy Room service food - mmmm, OK, not exceptional - filled a hole. Overall - very very good. Advice - if you are staying specifically to get to the airport early, when you book, also book your seat on the courtesy bus (runs every 30 mins, 24hrs) - its a little people carrier, so has a capacity of 4/5. My preferred time slot, and the next, was full so had to go 30 minutes earlier than planned, which meant a 0330h wake up call. May 20, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful place to stay! This was a wonderful place to stay...I had missed my flight back to France and the man at the Easyjet desk recommended this hotel...the person at the desk (I didn't get her name but it was about 5 pm on Sun. April 28)...was so understanding and kind...the room she gave me was terrific...all great amenities...then, when I checked out the next day, I had bought too many things and couldn't fit them in my suitcase and she gave me a Holiday Inn duffel bag which solved the problem perfectly...also, the woman who served me in the restaurant the next morning for breakfast was terrific...I commented on a bush out side, not knowing what it was but wishing I could find one like it and she asked if I would like a cutting...I was thrilled! It is now with me in France and growing! Very kind of her...Also very helpful was the gentlemen at the Sun nite dinner time...I can't recommend this hotel highly enough...C. Byrne May 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay with kids The Holiday Inn in Bristol is not only adecuate located, it also provides a good price/value. Kids have the possiblity of a child menu (which was free!). The rooms are spacious, the food is good and the staff is very friendly. Would always stay there again! May 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately only got to stay one night, very impressed with what we saw, beds comfortable, breakfast good nice selection. Will definitely stay again and recommend to others. May 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly, Helpful Staff, Poor Food Stayed at this Holiday inn due to proximity to Bristol Airport. I was picked up from the Airport by the hotel Shuttle service and brought back the next morning. All staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Hotel is situated in the countryside with no real food options apart from the in house restaurant. Possibly as a result of not having any competition, the food was not of a great standard. I ordered a small risotto as a starter and a pasta dish as the main course. The risotto was overcooked with the rice very soft and ready to turn to mush, with the only crunch coming from the virtually raw onion in it. (quite a feat to overcook the rice and undercook the onion at the same time). Was meant to be a chorizo risotto, but i struggled to find much in the way of chorizo The pasta for the main course was undercooked and served with pesto and a "tomato based" sauce which had not been sweetened and hence was very bitter. Dish served up with what looked and tasted supsiciously like grated cheddar rather than the customary parmesan. Would recommend the hotel for friednly welcoming staff, but steer clear of the food April 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Let us check in early We had a wedding nearby and as we were travelling down for it, they kindly allowed us to check in early so we had time to get ready for the big day. April 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service at short notice We used the Holiday in at Bristol Airport to save time in driving to the airport before going on holiday the next day. Staff were friendly and helpful and it was a very quick to check in. We ordered food from the bar and this arrived quick. I asked about booking a room if our flight was delayed coming back and we were told about the cancellation policy so we asked for a card and I rang from the airport and we were booked in and arrived just before midnight and the room was very warm and comfy. We had a lovelly nights sleep with no hurry to come home. Breakfast was good very hot and plenty of choice and as we paid by credit card we just went back to the room collect our things handed the room key over and left for home. April 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing, quite location and excellent food My experience of the holiday inn in Birmingham airport where I stayed for 3 nights was excellent. My room had everything I required and was really comfortable. I ate in the hotel and the food was exceptional. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. This is one hotel I'll stay in again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and service. We were very pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. We would definitely stay here again! February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stay Not having stayed before and being late to arrive before flying the following morning, staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant staff were very knowledgeable as to the destination we were flying to. Documentation needed for travelling had been left at home however the exceptional staff at the front desk at 6 am were invaluable! Huge thank and will definately stay again January 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Locality We use the Holiday Inn when flying from Bristol. We are always met with a warm welcome at reception and as a Priority Club member our room is always allocated prior to arrival. Rooms are always well presented, well appointed, comfortable and warm, we can also be upgraded subject to availability, which is always a nice gesture. We tend to eat in the bar area not the restuarant as the meal choice meets our requirements, is always delivered quickly and the quality is great. The airport is such a short drive away staying at the hotel means when flying early from Bristol we do not have to get up exceptionally early and are considerably more relaxed after a great nights sleep and a very short journey to check in. We will continue to use the Holiday Inn Bristol Airport and will book for our September vacation. January 26, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service The Reception Desk was excellent, they were helpful and welcoming from the momenmt you entered the front door. Taxi service to the airport was again very good and would definetely use it again and recommend it to my friends and colleagues January 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by HOLIDAY INN BRISTOL AIRPORT The first room we were allocated was not as we had booked. We were then shown a room which was occupied and finally we took the room for disabled people. My wife is partially disabled so that promised to be fine. The room furnishings are tired and the carpet and furniture needs a good clean. The wet room drainage was inadequate and threatened to flow into the room. The whole room experience was a very bad start to our holiday. The maitre de was excellent and very hospitable and helpful. January 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable beds We were disappointed with the lack of comfort of our single beds. They were very hard and in one bed you could feel the spring poking through. The rest of the stay was fine. January 21, 2013
