Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bristol The hotel is very central to Bristol and in a great location, the only problems at present are that 2 of the lifts are currently out of action and you have to either wait ages for a lift to arrive or walk up the 2 flights of stairs to reception then wait even longer for a lift. The other problem is parking it's a multi story car park which means that if you can not get a car parking space on the ground floor you have to drive and find one the walk down with luggage to the hotel July 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by City Break Three night city break with family. Picked hotel for central location, quality and room availability. We rented two rooms which were clean and comfortable. The beds were are little firm but everything was clean and the hotel staff were friendly. Rooms were made up efficiently and maintained throughout the stay. The location for shopping and getting onto Bristol was good, although the immediate surrounding area is not the most attractive part of the city. Very little noise gets into the rooms and there are good facilities available, gym, bar, etc. Car parking costs £10 per day but is well placed for hotel access and easy to find when driving to the city. Some difficulties with my bill were eventually resolved, but I feel they prevented the hotel from receiving a 5 star recommendation. However, overall the quality of the stay was good and I would recommend this hotel to others. July 5, 2014

A special thankyou to Rich the night manager for posting an item one of our party left at the hotel. We had a problem with a shower that was fixed promptly and efficiently. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by June 2014 I stayed at this hotel in June 2014 in a Suite, everything was excellent, location, service, breakfast etc The way that the hotel takes its payment (it secures the money on check in but verifies it on check out) can cause some confusion (in my case it appeared to take payment once and secure it once meaning I could not access my secured money for 10 days after my stay although the payment had been processed) so make sure you have sufficient funds to "pay" twice until the secured funds return to your account. But if you planning a weekend in Bristol the Suite in this hotel is definitely worth its price. I will stay again. July 3, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by spotless comfortable hotel We stayed two nights and had an enjoyable stay , staff were very friendly and helpful , food was excellant and big portions, the only negative thing i would say its slightly more expensive however would be happy to pay again gor the quality of hotel and food. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bathroom is a problem I was upgraded as a Platinum Card holder but whilst the room was fine the bathroom was less than satisfactory. If you are not 6ft tall and athletic you will find getting in a challenge because of the high sides to the bath. Be careful not to try to lie down in the bath as the centre pop-up plug will do serious damage to delicate parts of your anatomy. June 18, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent and descrete I enjoyed my stay in your hotel as a friend and I were in Bristol looking for someone. Your staff had no problems in answering any questions we had reference the local area and amenities. Staff did not hesitate to get a taxi for us and ensure that we knew where we were going. The only thing was when we got into our room we noticed it was for disabled personnel. and when the shower was switched on it soaked the whole wet room. I was initially looking forward to a long hot bath. Facilities excellent although breakfast very expensive. Evening meal very good and served to the room. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by City Centre Cool! For a busy city centre hotel this one gets it right! Perfectly placed, bright, modern and well air-conditioned. The star quality of this hotel that makes this hotel stand out is the Staff who are totally awesome! Hamda on reception is a true star, she is friendly, helpful and always with a smile and prepared to turn her hand to anything to make guests smile! All other staff in all areas of this hotel smile too and are friendly and helpful. Our suite was spacious and with good amenities. The superior room we had the first night was standard but with reasonable amenities. The Buffet breakfast has one of the best offerings and quality of food for this type of hotel and if anything looked tired or past it best, the chef was more than willing to replenish or replace. The Spot Restaurant is brilliant and the new menu was delicious with choices to please all and the bar serves a mean cocktail! My only important piece of feedback that might enhance comfort is Please replace the pillows that are very hard and small! June 12, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Average restaurant and bar Quality of food from the new restaurant menu has gone from excellent to just satisfactory within 3 weeks. It didn't take long for complacency to raise its ugly head. Bar prices were increased just before the introduction of a new menu. For example, a pint of Beck's Bier went up over 28% and Stella Artois increased by 12.5% so they are now the same price. I cannot think of anywhere else that these two totally different brands are marketed at the same price. Notwithstanding the above, overall the hotel is fab and I wouldn't hesitate staying again. But in future I will eat out at quality restaurants within the excellent town centre. June 9, 2014

Ignore the external look of the building, internally everywhere is modern and fresh and the buffet breakfast is of a good standard. Would recommend! June 4, 2014

This hotel was great though, very good value and wonderful rooms with great showers. Atmosphere was perhaps enhanced by hen night and a fabulous group from Richmond rugby club. May 7, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Stay but let down by breakfast The room had a new, clean feel to it and a good size. The shower area of the bathroom is quite dark, but not a real problem. The earlier start times for breakfast are good, but the majority of the cooked breakfast items were cold. The only hot items were the fried egg, which was done nicely to order and the toast, after it had been through the machine a second time. There is a machine for selecting coffee to your preference, though the staff are on hand to offer filter coffee as well. On this occasion that I wasn't offered filter coffee until I had almost finished my breakfast. It's a shame that this stay was let down by the breakfast, having stayed before, and will again, I know they can do it right. May 5, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Standards still slipping and common sense going out of the window Anyone who read my previous review of this hotel would see that I had concerns that standards are falling alarmingly. This stay just re confirmed it...all the previous issues highlighted remain, but this time they are compounded by engineers rocking up at gone 10.30 at night to noisily attempt to repair a broken ice machine outside my room. A call to reception resulted in a "well I will have a word sir but.." attitude followed by an agreement that standards are falling. The noise eventually stopped around 11.15! I made my feelings known to duty management the following day, full of apologies, and an admission that the entire management team has changed in the last few months to address issues....as I was due back a few days later for leisure reasons, I have given them one last chance...time will tell.... Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Stay 23rd April The room was clean, the shower excellent and bed very comfortable however our reading light was flashing in a strobe light fashion, and one of the drawers is coming off it's hinges. Right next to our window was a set of scaffolding limiting our privacy. As 2 females we found this made us uncomfortable. This on top of the booking issue was unfortunate. I did not complain at the time as we were staying one night however had we been staying longer I would have requested to change rooms. Staff all excellent and extremely friendly and helpful. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Standards are slipping... Have stayed at this hotel many times over the last few years, and am disappointed to see that attention to detail is now sadly lacking. This includes no bottled water in the room, an empty minibar, no biscuits or hot chocolate in the tea/ coffee tray, and not being offered vouchers for breakfast. In addition, I was not offered the choice of 500priority club bonus points or a complimentary drink on check in. You may think that I am being picky, but these have all been offered as standard in the past, and form part of the standard experience at comparable hotels in the chain. I am due to stay here again twice before the end of the month and will be interested to see if anything changes ! April 25, 2014
