Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Rooms I booked two rooms for the family to make a bereavement visit but the rooms were not next to each other and we could not get two adjoing rooms in the hotel. That was unfortunate so we had to adjust who was staying with whom to better care for the kids. The stay was very good. It is a very nice hotel not far from Boston. The area is a bit industrial and not scenic but you can get into Boston easy enough. Upon checking out I was hoping to write a check for the stay with my credit card being the guarentee of payment but the woman at the front desk firmly informed me that was not an option and I thought she didn't need to be as rude about it. A smile and a little eye contact might have helped a bit. No problem. Still, it was a very nice hotel. November 7, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a "10" stay Booked this hotel because of its proximity to my meeting. Was very disappointed with how I was greeted at check in. My reservation was under our Priority Club membership and when I gave the staff member my name she made a point to say I was not my wife. I tried to joke and say it is our shared membership and I should somehow get my name on the account. The staff member then proceeded to explain to me how if my wife was there as a Priority Club member she would have the choice of either a small gift bag or extra points. I told her I was confident that my wife would accept the extra points. I unfortunately checked in late in the evening and asked if the restaurant was still open. She said I still had twenty minutes and so before I went to my room I stopped in and aksed to place an order. I was told that the kitchen had already closed for the evning. When I went back to the front desk I asked if there was somewhere within walking distance for me to get something to eat. The front desk staff member laughed and said not at that hour. She then provided me with take out menus. My food was delivered to my room without a call from the front desk with the option of me coming down for my order as opposed to someone just knocking on my door. Unfortunately, by no fault of the hotel, the take food was some of the worst I have ever had. My room and the bathroom were very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. However, I was completely disappointed with the service and quite honestly the hotel's location is not ideal. November 4, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fall foliage and Parent's Weekend How can one not enjoy the Boston area in mid-October? We did and we almost always enjoy our stay at the Bunker Hill HI. The staff may not be Texas-friendly, but they're certainly competent and efficient. The property is safe, secure, and well-lit with plenty of parking in a parking-limited area. The rooms, while not overly spacious, have all the accoutrements that one would expect at an updated HI property. This particular visit was delayed a day due to a cancelled flight. The staff worked with us and made the appropriate adjustments to our schedule and even got us in our room early. Now, I would never make a decision on where to stay based on their in-house food offerings, but I can say that the pizza from the restaurant downstairs is amazing! We come to the area at least three times annually and we always stay at the Bunker Hill HI. We'll see you again in the spring! October 28, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not good enough Had some expectations, but unfortunately, the hotel didn't meet any of them. Front desk staff were fine, but the night shift is simply horrible. The toilet got clogged during the night, and immediately started flooding the room (great pipework, by the way). I ran to reception and asked for help - I was told by the very rude night shift attendant the there is no one at the hotel to help, but he'll try and call security. The security guy came after 20 minutes (during which we were fighting with the toilet - huge fun), and said this is not part of his job, but he'll "do us a favor". Gee, thanks. We waited for another 10 minutes till he brought some equipment, and solved the problem. I must mention that I complained in the morning to the front desk manager, and got 50% off that night - but that still doesn't make up for a completely sleepless night. They have to improve their night service, it was horrible. Room - although renovated, not maintained well. The bath faucet broke apart when I first tried to use it, and I had to bring it back together while having some ice cold water raining down from the shower head. Fun, again. Cleaning service was horrible - not wnough towels, never got soaps/shampoo replenished. Nothing. Also, I was told that the windows were sealed - but the window was poorly sealed, so wind came in and road noise was very much evident (asked for a quiet room before checking in, got a room facing the noisey road). Breakfast not good as well - bacon inedible, scrambled eggs quite disgusting, bread not fresh, panckae machine never seemed to work - you get the picture. Shuttle service - although a great idea, poorly executed. The driver was always late - he was 20 minutes late to pick us up from the city on our last day (really a 15 minute drive during these hours, so I can't imagine it took his 35). If you can't make it work on tine, don't offer a shuttle service. Simply not good enough. October 23, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor breakfast I was part of a tour group which was shunted into a side room for breakfast. Service was poor. Choice was quite inadequate eg one day the hot choice at breakfast was a beefburger (but with no onions or bun - just the beef) a pancake and fried potato wedges. Cereal bowls were not provided - paper soup bowls had to be used. I have stayed in Holiday Inns in various parts of the world and the breakfast here was by far the worst that I have ever experienced. If the hotel cannot cope with a tour party of 39 in its restaurant it should not accept such bookings. My first experience of a hotel in the USA was not a good one. October 20, 2014

The "high speed internet" was like most hotels and averaged around 1MB down and .5MB up but the hand off between access points was horrendous. If i moved 10 feet down the hall i needed to sign in again after it reconnected. That was probably the worst part about the stay. Joe the bartender was very friendly. I had the opportunity to stay almost a month and had everything on the menu, i was not disappointed once. October 20, 2014

Our room (2 double beds) was large enough with comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities. Parking was easy and the hotel was central to our needs in Somerville. The first representative was a little blonde female that was not freindly and would not give us a key for the room, even though we booked it and payed for it. She asked if someone else was staying in the room and we gave the name of our daughter. She said she could not give us the room key, because we were not staying in the room. We did have to push, but she finally gave us the room key. But was not happy about it at all!! October 14, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Staff Stayed 3 days to tour the area and take in a BC football game. Was advised by staff that we could take their shuttle to and from the train station. After the game, we called to have us picked up at the train station, and was then advised that they do not pick up after a certain PM hour (I believe it was 11:00 PM). We had to take a taxi back to the hotel. If we were told the correct information, we would have drove and parked with out rental car. October 6, 2014

My only disappointment is the restaurant staff although friendly they sometimes forget about single guests and I routinely wait almost 15-20 minutes after the check is requested. Security guard on our floor the first evening there sitting in the shadows with a loud music playing through his headphones. Believe he was making the noise allowing the stair doors to slam behind him. Did not have a problem the rest of the stay. Well appointed rooms. Great bedding and overall room appearance. Road noise in the morning was noticeable. Breakfast was an okay value for the convenience. Other breakfast options within walking distance are comparable in price. Shuttle service was not explained as a scheduled service, instead of on-demand. September 23, 2014
