I always enjoy staying there when I come to town, which is a lot. The service is great.

A large man wearing dirty, baggy clothes, a very worn baseball cap and holding a grocery bag stood in my path late one night when I was on the way to my room. He asked me what I was doing. I said I was going to my room. He asked me what my room number was. I shrugged and tried to walk past him, but he asked me again what my room number was. I asked him why he wanted to know, and he looked me up and down and said something in a foreign language. I said I didn't understand, and quickly got around him and kept walking to my room. He started following me. I sped up and after I had some distance, I turned around and asked why he wanted to know my room number and why was he following me. He laughed and said it was his job. I told him he doesn't look like he works there. Too scared about what might happen if he knows where my room is, I decide to pass my room, and walk down the entire hallway. I look back and I see he is standing in the same spot and just watching me. There's a door to go down another hallway, so I go through that. I wait a minute, then look through the window of the door to see if he's left yet. He is still standing there and saw me look through the door's window. I have nowhere left to go except outside the building or back towards him (he happened to be standing only a few doors away from my room). My only option for feeling safe going to my room was to report him to the concierge. As soon as I started heading towards the concierge, the man started walking that direction, too. He was closer to the concierge and by the time I got there, he was standing next to him. I think the concierge was a manager, based on his appearance. I told the manager that the man standing next to him scares me. The two of them look at each other and chuckle. The manager asked me what was so scary about him. I told him he doesn't look like he works there, he asked me which room I was going to, and then he followed me and watched me. The manager and the man laughed. The manager said he is his security guard, and it's his job to ask guests where they are going, to make sure they have a room. He then said that he had a funny story. He asked a female guest where she was going when she was getting in a cab one day, and she yelled at him that it's none of his business. He laughed quite a bit about his story, saying he was only trying to help her and it was ridiculous that she got defensive. He finished by asking me what my name was and extending his hand. I reluctantly shook it before going back to my room. It all began at 4:40am, and it was about 5:30am before I finally got back to my room.

Overall very average, not what you would expect given the price. Good location. The biggest concern was an apparent rodent problem. During my two night stay I encountered mice in my room on two separate occasions. On one of the occasions a mouse ran across me foot in an effort to get out of the room as I opened the door. This took place in front of the cleaning lady, who didn't have to much to say about it other than "oh my." Obviously I was unable to have food in the room, but could still hear the mice running around in my room at night. While sitting at the bar late at night I saw one running across the floor behind the bar. My co-worker who was staying on another floor told me she had a similar experience.
I travel frequently as part of my job and have stayed in a lot hotels. My suggestion to upper management is to either:
A.) update the interior/rooms & get rid of the mice
B.) Reduce your rate
