Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Overview The front desk employees were very pleasant and professional. Room was a little small but very clean and sufficient. The only problem I had was the false alarm on the first night. I was awoken with the fire alarm going off at 2:15 in the morning. Startled and frustrated after being outside with many guests for a few minutes only to be told it was a false alarm. It definitely took a while to go back to sleep. I will stay there again next time I am in town. March 7, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LOUD AC/heater unit We stayed there for two nights on 2/10 and 2/11/2014. It was cold, and the heater unit was our nightmare. It had VERY LOUD noise when it was on, like metal grinding noise. To make the matter worse, on/off was much more frequent than normal. It was turned on again only a few minutes after it was off. Needless to say that we did not get good sleep at all. We understand it's an older hotel, but it should definitely be better maintained. February 24, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty All of the cups on my table were dirty. They had been washed but still had coffee stains. I asked for a clean cup and while waiting for it, noticed the water glasses were similar. I left my free breakfast (I am platinum with Priority Club) and went somewhere clean to eat. The room was worn looking but nothing specificly wrong. I asked if theere was an ice machine on my floor and was told there was one. After trapesing around to find it, i found it did not work. The desk clerk got me ice but should have saved me the time to find the busted machine. This would be a nice hotel if it was properly maintained. January 19, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Skip at all costs! This trip was supposed to be a 5 night stay which I cut short to only 1 night after having been in the hotel only about 3.5 hours. The rooms were very worn and not kept up to date, the entire hall smelled horrible, and furniture badly needed to be replaced or repaired. We waited for over 2 hours for a roll away and never got it, which resulted in me having to sleep on the chair all night since my son and wife were on the bed. The swimming pool was very dirty. When we arrived, I was told there was nobody to help us with all our luggage. In the morning the restaurant did not offer a breakfast buffet, and when i took an order to go, i realized my order was was missing its bacon when i got to the room. In 2013, I stayed over 150 nights in hotels in 15 different states but this took the cake for being the worse one i've seen. December 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Has become very run down Work was having me stay here every five weeks about two years ago and I remember it being much cleaner and taking care of. Also the staff seemed better organized. My latest stay on December 18th was again for work and the place seemed very run down. The guy at the front desk was not very friendly. Ignored the fact I had a IHG gold card (not even a thanks for being a member). The cashier/waitress was friendly and did a good job but the food was horrible (had the chicken tortilla soup and chicken enchiladas). The food was much better a few years ago. There is a nice mall and alot of places to eat just across the freeway. Glad it was work paying for this, if it was my own money I would be very angry. December 22, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty Check in was quick, there is no elevator to the second floor so if you don't want to climb stairs with luggage in tow, request first floor. Upon entering our room it smelled of mildew. Wallpaper was peeling on the walls. The bathroom had not been cleaned well at all. There was standing urine at the bottom around the outside of the toilet. Hairs were visible in the corner on the bathroom tile floor. Tub didn't drain & after staff was called to fix the clog it still didn't drain good. The price was cheap & included free hot breakfast buffet which was the only thing good about this hotel. Very disappointed in this Holiday Inn & will not stay here while in Brownsville again. December 11, 2013

Restaurant and Bar a plus while staying at this hotel. Mall is across the highway. the staff are great I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Brownsville not pay the high prices in SPI while this resource is a available! October 24, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just a review Overall, my stay was decent. I travel a lot and stay with IHG brands 95% of the time. On this particular stay, I did not partake in on any other section of the hotel except the room. I was dove hunting and just needed a bed for the night. However, upon arrival, I was not greeted and thanked for being a platinum member. Associate was distracted talking to a co-worker. Another issue i did experience, was that I did want some ice for drinks and our birds but the ice machine was out of order. Overall, it was an okay stay, but may consider another option. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't be staying here in the future Checked and received key. Had to lug suitcase upstairs. Not sure if there was an elevator? Got to room and door was ajar and I thought I saw bed sheets on a chair. It was a little creepy and tried calling front desk from a lobby in hall but no one picked. Had to lug suitcase back to lobby and received key for another room. Noticed kids running around and it was fairly late. Maybe 11:00 PM? Later while trying to sleep, heard car horn that sounded like a train. Heard kids outside blasting horn. May have been same kids running around hallway? This hotel is OK for families but not business travelers. August 12, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Time for a complete upgrade My first visit of what will be monthly trips to Brownsville and this will not be my hotel for the these trips. Not sure where to start? Room they gave me was actually not cleaned and ready for check in. Staff tried to come into my room during the evening twice. Not sure why ? they were heading down hall not answering my question of what they needed? Wallpaper peeling off walls. Maid service not consistent. Sheets had stains on them.Sheets were only changed once during an 8 day stay and new sheets had stains. Bathroom only looked like it had been cleaned correctly once. carpet had multiple stains that made those areas hard and crispy. Chair in room had stain on foot stool and seat cushion. Wifi was barely useable most nights. Room next door alarm going off for hours and had to ask 3 times to get them to turn it off. Water pouring from ceiling in work out room and informed front desk twice and nobody ever showed up to look into the issue. The hall carpet was filthy and smelled musty Finally the pool had some much leaves and trash floating on the surface only the kids would get in the pool. The one positive was the serving staff in the morning handling breakfast. August 7, 2013

As I m a lil Shopoholic ;) I found myself here at the best location since the mall was just across the street.
