Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy freezer The freezer is extremely noisy. This was the second time for me to try this hotel. I was very disappointed. This was the only IHG hotel ignored my member status twice, the freezer in the room created lots of noise. I definitely wouldn't try it again when I visit Carteret next time. December 22, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn experience Upon arriving as platinum priority club members, all we got was a "thank you." Walking down the hall to our room all we smelled was weed smoke which travelled into our room. In addition to that our room was not cleaned... The furniture was dusty, the garbage can was full of garbage, the bathtub was stained with dirt and there was hair in different parts of the room. The remote to the tv didn't work. The walls are so thin there our neighbors kept us up for a couple of ours with their conversations. After a restless night at 7:40am the maid starts knocking on our door to clean the room, I thought I was dreaming but I wasn't because she then tried to enter (all before 8am), after she couldn't get in she proceeds to have a loud full conversation just outside our door so we were unable to do return to the little sleep we had during our stay. We were so turned off by this hotel stay we cut our stay short and checked out that morning. November 21, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service the Best Staff I recently had an event at this location. This is our fourth event over the last two years . This most recent event I received so many great comments . What impressed them the most was all the attention to every detail and how efficient and friendly the staff was. A few of our family members who stayed overnight in the hotel commented on how clean their hotel rooms were and how everyone took the time to say "Hello" to them. For my husband and I it just reassured us that we once again made the right choice for our event and will continue to use the Holiday Inn of Carteret everytime. We thank the entire staff for making our celebration once again memorable one ! November 1, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Management Change I have had the sincere pleasue of staying at this hotel twice monthly since 1979. Have always found it to be first rate, with a special emphasis from the staff on accomendating the guests. Most sadly, this appears to have disappeared. Outdoor property is no longer pristen, and the rooms seem to be more tired and worn then in past years. The almost empty dining room food was good, with fair, if somewhat slow, service. Room service was a disappointment. The front desk staff are pleasant, when they are not on their cell phones. Recognition of Priority Club Status is ignored, and Platinum up grades seem to be no longer offered. It is my sincere hope that conditions will turn around..if not, there appears to be other properties in the immediate area that may be the object of my patronage. October 29, 2013

The room was very clean, all electrical worked fine. Perhaps the freezer could have been set colder. What I especially appreciate is the shower bar. As a senior with double knee replacement, I found the appearance of a safety bar in the shower not readily available in most hotels. You had it and it is very much appreciated. October 5, 2013

I leave before the newspapers are delivered in the morning and about a third of the time there is no paper in my room when I return in the afternoon. 2. If there are to be smoking rooms at all they should be isolated instead of interspersed with non-smoking rooms. The smell finds its way into the hallways. October 1, 2013

From front desk personnel absorbed in their smart phones to food service personnel consistently forgetting silverware, condiments, or dessert etc... This hotel was once a joy to stay at, NO MORE! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A really excellent hotel-highly recommend ! We had to go to a 100th birthday party close-by, so chose this hotel for that reason. We started out arriving too early to check in, so went to have lunch at the hotel restaurant, Julian's, where we were very pleasantly surprised by striking décor-black & white with touches of red--and an attentive waitress, friendly and helpful hostess and quite delicious food. When we checked in, we were given a room near the pool which had me worried about potential noise but is was quiet, around the back of the hotel, and incidentally, the pool was lovely-immaculate, surrounded by wonderful plantings of bushes and flowers-in fact, the entire property is well landscaped and so pretty! We had a large room with Keurig coffee maker, microwave and fridge-comfy beds(-I just never rest well away from home) -but it was quiet and clean. The waitress we had for breakfast the first morning , Chelsea, remembered our preferences--efficient and friendly--the desk clerks helped me with some printing issues on computer--altogether one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time! I hope we need to stay in the area again as I would love to go back there! August 28, 2013

Even though I may have other hotels closer to my work I really enjoy the Holiday Inn Carteret and will continue traveling the extra miles to stay .They always go the extra mile to make me feel so at home. From the General Manager, Manager , Front Desk ,Maintenance ,Housekeeping , Restaurant Servers and Cooks . Everyone makes me feel so at home that's it's a pleasure to come here.
