Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Hotel This is a nice hotel and was convenient to the Amtrak locations I was working at. This hotel is difficult to get to with its location next to the overpass. I arrived after dark and was unable to figure out how to get to the hotel which caused a 30 minute delay and a 5 mile detour just to get back. February 25, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stinky room I always request a non smoking room but what I got this time was anything but. This room smelled like someone had been smoking in there for years. It is in the drapes, the carpet, the furniture and the bedding. There hasn't been a deodorizer made that could make that room smell better. In case you are wondering, I am a Platnum member. We enjoyed everybody we encountered during our stay and they were all friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor a book a room here if you are flying! February 3, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dated hotel is dated. underneath heaters blow tons of hot air make it uncomfortable in the room even if you turn to colder setting. pillows are horrible. refrigerator in room makes noise need to unplug it to sleep. furniture needs to be replaced . staff is great best thing of this hotel January 24, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A Surprise My room was clean and accommodating however I know I reserved at the best rate but i was not asked where I preferred to be. I didn't like the fact that I was given a room with an adjoining door, without being asked. That door bothered me a lot. A single woman i felt vulnerable. I wound up putting a chair under the door knob so that i could sleep.... Why I didn't ask for another room? , it was already late I was tired (and had to be up and ready early for a centralized work pick up). All in all it was quiet. Though it was next to a highway the noise was minimal. Though I live on the other side of town I never thought to utilize this hotel because i thought of high expenses.. I love that the room had a hot water pot for coffee/tea, a microwave and fridge, so the food that I brought in didn't go to waste. Some places do not have all the amenities at once. All in all I would give it a try again. QUESTION: if you do not have a car how does a person get across the highway (not user friendly) to the strip malls? December 27, 2013

This was the only IHG hotel ignored my member status twice, the freezer in the room created lots of noise. I definitely wouldn't try it again when I visit Carteret next time. December 22, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Holiday Inn experience Upon arriving as platinum priority club members, all we got was a "thank you." Walking down the hall to our room all we smelled was weed smoke which travelled into our room. In addition to that our room was not cleaned... The furniture was dusty, the garbage can was full of garbage, the bathtub was stained with dirt and there was hair in different parts of the room. The remote to the tv didn't work. The walls are so thin there our neighbors kept us up for a couple of ours with their conversations. After a restless night at 7:40am the maid starts knocking on our door to clean the room, I thought I was dreaming but I wasn't because she then tried to enter (all before 8am), after she couldn't get in she proceeds to have a loud full conversation just outside our door so we were unable to do return to the little sleep we had during our stay. We were so turned off by this hotel stay we cut our stay short and checked out that morning. November 21, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service the Best Staff I recently had an event at this location. This is our fourth event over the last two years . This most recent event I received so many great comments . What impressed them the most was all the attention to every detail and how efficient and friendly the staff was. A few of our family members who stayed overnight in the hotel commented on how clean their hotel rooms were and how everyone took the time to say "Hello" to them. For my husband and I it just reassured us that we once again made the right choice for our event and will continue to use the Holiday Inn of Carteret everytime. We thank the entire staff for making our celebration once again memorable one ! November 1, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Management Change I have had the sincere pleasue of staying at this hotel twice monthly since 1979. Have always found it to be first rate, with a special emphasis from the staff on accomendating the guests. Most sadly, this appears to have disappeared. Outdoor property is no longer pristen, and the rooms seem to be more tired and worn then in past years. The almost empty dining room food was good, with fair, if somewhat slow, service. Room service was a disappointment. The front desk staff are pleasant, when they are not on their cell phones. Recognition of Priority Club Status is ignored, and Platinum up grades seem to be no longer offered. It is my sincere hope that conditions will turn around..if not, there appears to be other properties in the immediate area that may be the object of my patronage. October 29, 2013

The room was very clean, all electrical worked fine. Perhaps the freezer could have been set colder. What I especially appreciate is the shower bar. As a senior with double knee replacement, I found the appearance of a safety bar in the shower not readily available in most hotels. You had it and it is very much appreciated. October 5, 2013

I leave before the newspapers are delivered in the morning and about a third of the time there is no paper in my room when I return in the afternoon. 2. If there are to be smoking rooms at all they should be isolated instead of interspersed with non-smoking rooms. The smell finds its way into the hallways. October 1, 2013

From front desk personnel absorbed in their smart phones to food service personnel consistently forgetting silverware, condiments, or dessert etc... This hotel was once a joy to stay at, NO MORE!
