The hotel location was great for walking to many great sites. The hotel staff was great and very friendly. The restaurant was a huge disappointment. The waitress was wearing tattered jeans and lacked even the basics of customer service. The drink was over priced and only fair. We didn't bother to order dinner from the handful of choices on the menu as we were apparently bothering the waitress by being there. It took almost as long to pay for the drink as it did to get served. The room was quite noisy. We even could hear the room next to us flush the toilet. We heard every word and sound from the hallway.

located near the area we wanted to be. Construction around the location made it look less desirable than other hotels.

Our experience at the Holiday Inn in historic downtown Charleston was the best ever! We had to book at the last minute because we accidentally registered at the wrong hotel 2 months prior. Jessica, at the front desk, was extremely accommodating and set us up in a nice room away from nearby construction. The hotel was built alongside the old location about a year or so ago and the facilities were very nice and spotless. MIke C. was our bell hop that night and he found a safe spot to park our vehicle with our bicycles on the back and helped us to get settled in our room. Hudson and the rest of the bell hops also helped retreive our bikes each day so that we could explore the area. Dy'rone, a Charleston native, served us breakfast in the hotel and gave us some history of the area. He and Shawn were both very friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious! Due to the convenient location of this Holiday Inn, we were able to leave our vehicle parked in the garage during our entire stay and enjoy Charleston day and night by either foot, bike, free trolley, or rickshaw. This ended up being a much more relaxing and enjoyable weekend getaway than I expected largely because of our decision to stay at this particular Holiday Inn. Without a doubt we will stay here again the next time we come to Charleston!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dr Gooddata From one who normally goes to another hotel chain
As a loyal customer of a different hotel chain, I must say our stay at this Holiday Inn may change our preference. The staff went OUT OF THEIR WAY to care for our needs. This was true of the desk staff, the maids, the dining staff, the bell men and even the valet boys. Our stay was magnificant and most enjoyable. It is clear that the management of this hotel knows how to please their customers. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

If you want easy access to tours and the downtown area for restaurants, shopping, etc. this is a good place to be. Only negative is the parking. You must valet your car. The staff assures you that they will bring your car to the front door 24/7, but we like being able to get something from our car without having to wait for it to come to the front door. We will say, however, that whenever we wanted our car, it arrived within 5 minutes. Again, the staff was very friendly and efficient. 'Loved that a trolley stop was just across the street from our hotel and FREE. A big plus when you are in a city you are not familiar with.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NC_kelly Can't recommend this hotel
I took my wife to Charleston for her birthday. Paid a great deal extra per night for the advertised "Romance Package". I expected that there would be flowers on arrival. After contacting the front desk twice (the first time the staff told me they had no idea what a romance package was) my wife finally received 6 roses that had been dyed purple and were wilting. Also included was a small creme brulee from the restaurant and a bottle of Korbel. Total value of items $25 total extra paid $100 ($50 per night). In addition, the building next door was being torn down and the noise was terrible (could have told us about this on booking or at least put us in a room on the opposite side for the hotel). Restaurant staff was rude. This was the worst Holiday Inn experience I have ever had. Not a great birthday for my wife.
