We stayed at the Holiday Inn for two nights (4/25 and 4'26). On the night of 4/26 there was a power outage. This was not the hotel's fault. But costumers were without elevators, TV, internet service, ice machines etc. for 6+ hours. And while service was being done, NO lights at all for 2hrs. Seems like a small compensation would have been nice e.g.: free hot breakfast in the morning OR at least a "thank you" for the inconvenience would have been nice. I also was not acknowledged as an IHG member and wonder if I will receive points for this stay. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kathshive89 Great location and wonderful service
We wanted a close location for our visit to Monticello and other nearby historical sites. The Holiday Inn was literally a five minute drive to where we wanted to go. The staff was very friendly and personable - no matter what part of the hotel you were in, whether it be front desk, housekeeping or the restaurant. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was roomy and appeared updated compared to other places we have stayed. The large shower and great water pressure were a definite plus!! Once in our room, we never heard any noise from the hallway at all -- which is a rarity. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting the Charlottesville/Monticello area.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dlm300 Lack of Parking Lighting and Hair in Restroom
There were several long brown hairs visible in the hotel room bathroom on the counter and on-top of the paper cups (covered with plastic.)
Further when arriving at the hotel at night, I did not feel safe in the parking lot with its poor lighting. The parking lot needs at least 2 more lights to ensure that hotel guests feel safe and comfortable when walking into the facility.

as promised, updated rooms, tastefully done--many hotels booked in the area, so we went with this one and weren't at all disappointed. lobby isn't large or elegant, but tasteful and well kept. rooms are spacious, very clean and surprisingly nice for a Holiday Inn! Once in the room, wouldn't say I'd guess I was at a Holiday Inn!
Didn't use the dining room, so can't comment. Friends had the oatmeal and thought it quite good, some sliced fruit they brought from there was also good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Eric61323 Attentive staff, comfortable room
My only complaint was the noise outside the room. My room faced the highway so there was some road noise and the room was next to the elevator which I could hear groaning. Fortunately I was able to get a good night's sleep and all the noise didn't bother me enough to be a problem. Next visit I'll ask for a room facing the parking lot and away from the elevators.

This hotel is far from new, but they've done a very good job maintaining it and keeping it modern and appealing. Check-in lacked customary hotel hospitality, but it was fine and efficient. Room was nice and comfortable with a very nice modern, appealing bathroom. Breakfast and service in the restaurant was quite good - we were the only customers for most of the time there. Location is very convenient to both downtown C'ville and Monticello - right off I-64.
