This is a very comfortable hotel, swimming pool is great but bar area quite small so had an occassion where we joined a wedding party in there and we were just tucking into a late lunch, so we got some funny looks but hey i was a paying guest so i am entitled to use the bar area, not my fault the hotel choose to put the wedding party in the bar area. Evening Meal not too good, not enough choice for guests that can not each spicy food. Breakfast very expensive for what you get and poor tempature of the hot food. We had an excutive room and i must say i will always go for this type of room for the comfort and space you get.

This hotel but be great but continues to let itself down. The evening food is of such poor quality I left over half of it and got a pizza delivered. For the second time in my last 3 visits my TV in the room was not working. Will not be staying again.

This maybe great to stay with kids although not cheap.
This is the worse holiday Inn I have ever stayed in and the only time I have not felt comfortable in my environment.
The restaurant staff at breakfast was rude and abrupt , and then went on to ridicule a trainee in front of the guests several times
Still trying to work out if it was a buffet breakfast or not??? as there were no trays and no teaspoons anywhere but then no staff to serve so not sure ??

I normallly stay at the Kingston HI which is great but due to booking last minute stayed in the Chessington HI. In comparison to the Kingston HI it was not great. There was no-one on Reception when I arrived, they were chatting in the back room and this happened on another couple of occasions I went to Reception. As a platinum Priority card member, at Kingston HI I get water in the my room, different toiletries etc etc, however, you don't get any of this at the Chessington. The towels were stained, the room was damp and needed redecorating. Food in the restaurant took ages to be served and I didn't have a room service menu or any hotel information in my room for two days despite requesting this. It wasn't great and I'll make sure I book in advance at the Kingston in future!

Stayed at last minute, Resturant service was too slow would have been quicker to go in my car !! Even though i am a gold member For the price I paid I think I could have got a better room elsewhere and breakfast is not included. Where's the advantage of being a gold member..???

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DaddyBamBam Great rooms, average food
Very pleased with rooms and atmosphere of the hotel. Food experience not so great, quite expensive and staff not very attentive. Except for Julien, who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Thanks again Julien, you really stand out!
Bar and restaurant area are quite cold. During the daytime people enter and leave through the large double doors which, on a cold and windy day, is very uncomfortable if you are sitting in the bar trying to stay warm.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mambo Nice hotel for the money, but staff could be a little more attentive
Hotel is very good value for the money, but staff is slow to respond to the needs of their customers. I own a couple of small businesses and there are quite a few staff members at this hotel that I would have no problem letting go including the ineffective day manager. Very slow service and not being able to recognize that there are many customers waiting to check in and staff standing around looking clueless. Change ineffective staff members and update furniture in the rooms and you can command a higher price and move up a star.
We had a nice family room overlooking the "zoo". Phone call buttons were not working and dialing "0" took over a 100 rings on 4 different attempts to get a staff member on the phone. Room service was slow to answer but staff who delivered food was very nice.
There seemed to be this attempt of the staff to appear friendly, but put them to the test and they can or will fail miserably. Retrain or let them go. Maybe it is the way of service there, but in the U.S., you wouldn't get away with it.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by deary absolute chaos trying to just check in
Nice hotel, nice rooms etc, but the checking in was an absolute nightmare!
Because it was the "meet santa" stay, everyone was here for that reason including us.
Having arrived at the hotel/chessington park at 10ish we were told told that we couldn't check in until 3pm after the park closes, even though last year they allowed us to do this.
so come 2.30pm massive queues started to form at the hotel reception and spilling right out into the car park as now the whole hotel was trying to check in at the same time!
add to this there was a stand where you could get a hot chocolate and a cookie which was right next to the reception with yet another queue and then just next to that was another stand where you had to book your child a time slot to visit santa, also with another massive queue that was getting mixed up with the hot chocolate & cookies queue which was coming close to the reception check in queue! and another queue of people waiting to meet santa!
absolute chaos which in total took over an hour just to check in! plus time queuing up for the other 2 stands! and trying to get through all of these queues with luggage, and toddler and a pushchair! not easy!
Then on the following morning when we wanted to go for a swim the swimming pool was "conveniently" closed because the "chlorine levels" were "too high", which was obviously a plan to get everyone out of the hotel nice and early before the next lot of people arrived in the afternoon for the "christmas sleepover" on the 24th dec.
So the majority of the stay was spent either queuing to check in, queuing for a hot chocolate, queuing for santa or sleeping!

...........I find the food here well below par. The hotel is very much a family hotel because of its location but it also caters for a significant business element. The meeting rooms are fine but the catering leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.....
My choice is to avoid eating here whenever possible.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by revolutionbekki Good accomodation for cost
This is a regular stop for me as I am down in Leatherhead 2 days a week and generally speaking the hotel is good value considering its location and of a good standard quality wise. On 2 recent stays however my television has not worked properly and the quality of the pillows have been shoddy. When away from home very regularly its nice to be able to have a good nights sleep but on these 2 occasions thats not been possible. The gym and pool facilities are however very good so I often use these during my stays. The food menu is considerable size wise but because I stay so often it would be nice if dishes could be changed or if some specials could be introduced.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by zhulme An enjoyable stay
The overall experience was brilliant. The staff were extremely helpful and the food enjoyable and good value. My only negative comment is that the executive rooms were a little worn e.g footprints on walls and marks that needed a 2 minute paint job. Other than that my 2 day stay was thoroughly enjoyable.

Beautiful views from room over the Savanah. The warm welcome received on arrival set the tone for the stay. The room was very comfortable and relaxing. Spa facilities briliant and the atmosphere throughout provides for a great resort feel. The only negative side is the breakfast, where staff, although understandably busy, were not very friendly and the buffet not well stocked. They also do not warn you that they are clearing things from the buffet. Overall very nice stay.

I am absolutely, unbelievably blown away... The perfect service experience in a British Resort Hotel in October!!!!
Finding the hotel was simple enough, great map & directions on t'intenet...
Parking included, although spaces just a little too tight...
The receptionist was outstanding, having arrived at 9:30pm he took time to explain things... And I asked a lot of questions.
The room was a surprise - completely made over in Halloween sty-lee - see the photo - so special for my 11 year old daughter.
The service was flawless from start to finish - its as if being close to The World of Adventures had infected everyone with a helpfulness virus. The restaurant staff couldn't do enough for us. Going off several times to make sure I had everything I wanted - even stuff not on the menu... Really!
The trip also involved visiting the Theme Park too, and if you do this too, you can get early access to the park at 9:00am from the hotel, ahead of the Park opening - definitely worth doing if you're not on an inset day like we were...
Parking at the hotel is free for guests and this includes the day you check out - making your visit to the Park just that little less expensive, as you can leave the car parked in the hotel all day whilst you enjoy the rides. VERY impressed.
The pool was fun too. Very family friendly. Everything you'd expect - jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym and the towels are provided so don't need to pack your own. Remember the £1 for the lockers (which you get back).
This place is a real treasure and despite me being only 40 miles away, I would definitely stay here again... And cannot recommend it highly enough. I just hope you have the same experience we did... I really haven't experienced better.
Well done and thank you!

got there very late at night to be rudely told by an evening member of staff that i had not payed when i insisted i had which i showed them on a bank statement to which he wouldent let me have my room untill i had payed a further charge for it. being so late i did but when i complained in the morning i didnt even get the room for what i had originally payed for. rang the zufari resteraunt to book a table and asked if it was full menu which the answer was yes but when arrived it was buffet only so we left to go the the beefeater down the road which was nicer and cheaper. had a shower that leaked and flooded the bathroom when it was used and a tv that didnt work. told that we had to pay a fee of £50 a night just incase any costs needed to be covered that would be reunded after the stay that then took 7 days to get refunded.
do not stay here. the hotel is beautiful the the service is awful

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by LoubieLou Wonderful school holiday weekend
Great weekend in fantastic family rooms. To say the hotel was full of kids the quality of the food and the attentive staff were excellent. The only minor quibble was lack of reception staff at peak times. Great to come back from the theme park and be able to rest for an hour or two. The whole family loved it and want to go back.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Natsmum42 A fantastic family retreat
This was our 4th stay at your fabulous hotel, slightly different for us this time as we stayed in one of you themed rooms, WOW, that was one of your best kept secrets, our kids were in their element, under their tented room with the secret safe, us adults did miss the lovely view of the savannah in the morning tho, not quite the same looking at the car park. The atmosphere was as relaxing as usual, long with attentive, friendly staff, and fabulous food.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by MrHF Poor Quality of Evening Food and Some Staff Customer Service
The quality of food in the restaurant in the evenings was very poor. One of the staff was asked for a soft drink with no ice. When this was brought with ice, she was informed of this and proceeded to empty the ice abruptly onto the tray that had held the drink - not the most appropriate gesture.

Great family friendly hotel, would definately recommend to friends and family. I would have given it five stars, just abit disappointed that we had a family room with a small window, our 3 year old had to stand on chair to see out of the window. When we went outside we noticed it was only the end rooms that had small windows, all the other windows were longer. Breakfast was good too.

As a wedding was taking place during our stay, there was loud music playing until midnight! Also pool was busy (during weekend) and therefore we needed to book a slot and there was a 35 minute wait, didnt find this out until arriving at the pool. Was not told that there was a code needed in order for the barrier to lift to leave the car park, tried using the intercom at the barrier to call for assistance, no person answered, 2 cars who were queing behind us did not know code either, they reversed to allow me to drive back to hotel to get code from reception staff. Cooked breakfast was cold. Overall an unpleasant experience, will not return, and I am surprised as all other Holiday Inn s I have stayed in have been great. Also paid extra for a room overlooking the animal reserve but during oct-March animals are put away for the night by 5pm, so a waste of money if you go during off peak season.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ellisclan2np Nice hotel shame about the staff.....
On arrival the hotel is very pleasing to look and great for the 2 children who were with us. What a shame when we got to the room and it wasn't a themed room as booked, went back to reception only to be told that it was impossible to have booked a themed room over the phone, even though we had email confirmation clearly stating a themed room booked, it was a treat for my daughters 9th birthday. The hotel was full so we were stuck with a room overlooking the car park and the only compensation was a few birthday balloons and no refund of the difference or room type. Dinner was a nightmare as the restaurant was heaving - waited an hour for our starters, which I hasten to add was houmous and bread and then another 40 minutes for the main course by which time my son was asleep. The pool had a 45 minute waiting time. Breakfast was also heaving and waited 20 mins to get seated although couldn't fault the breakfast once in. The hotel is very clean, such as shame about the poor service. Made a complaint and still waiting to hear.......

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by izziwotnot Lovely accommodation and friendly staff
We recently enjoyed 3 nights at the Hotel on a family break for myself, my husband and 3 children. We had a fabulous time.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room was lovely and clean. Although the extra bed was not in the room waiting for us a phonecall later and a nice chap brought in a substantial extra bed for our third child to sleep in.
The food was excellent although a bit unusual for children to have the option of chips or rice with pasta! but the staff were very accommodating for our fussy 7 year old who had cucumber sticks with her pasta every night.
I would very much recommend the hotel, the views of the ostriches and zebras every morning was a delight!
